..- Of the three doctors who have been staying with me, you are the first one who poisons himself, not his patients. -_-

Medical student Arthur Conan Doyle, along with his mentor, renowned surgeon and distinguished professor at the University of Edinburgh, Joseph Bell, investigate the murders.

The plot of this miniseries is based on real personalities and events intertwined with characters and stories from the works of Sherlock Holmes. Joseph Bell's powers of observation, extensive practical knowledge, vast professional experience, phenomenal logic, energy and determination will not only help solve crimes, but, along with some asceticism and inner nobility, will become key features of the future of the most famous literary detective. Skepticism, significantly less attentiveness and intelligence, while the courage, integrity and integrity of the young Conan Doyle resemble the image of Dr. Watson. All kinds of more or less noticeable allusions and almost direct quotes develop and enliven the action and add to the viewing pleasure.

The oppressive atmosphere, successful scenes of reality without embellishment and romanticism, very good costumes and scenery, dark and cramped streets and houses, unsympathetic and even repulsive characters are convincingly conveyed. Good actors, interesting intrigue, good lyrics, clever, ironic lines with humor come across, but the overall impression is quite average. Sound, but bland. Either the editing is incorrect and the rhythm is not observed, or the director has overdone it, or he has gone overboard with gloomy seriousness. There is no highlight, I remember the series only with excessive sadness, I don't want to review it for sure.

Language. They speak mostly well and correctly, but I didn't notice any special stylization to match the language of the time or a heavy regional accent. But the dictionary is not the simplest, there are quite complex phrases and special vocabulary, subtitles will not be superfluous.
