I feel free to add it to the list of those anime that have not just sunk into my soul... The imprint will probably remain forever.
For the first half of the anime, you can sit and not know what's going on and whether something worthwhile is going to happen, for which you can continue to watch. I'll say that yes, it will, and it's definitely worth watching.
I feel sorry for everyone. And the antagonists (after watching all the episodes), and the protagonists. And the world is unusual with its shifts (people and their rules). Positive and negative emotions appear.
I also like its realism (in its own way). There are no "I suddenly have a power that I didn't have before, and I will save everyone" or "I will save someone with my screams, pleas, and thoughts." The deaths of the characters are very real, and so are their actions. That is, if such a situation were happening in the world, it would be one of the most realistic behaviors of people.
I think my thoughts will always tremble when I remember this anime.

It's been a long time since I've watched anime with bated breath and really worried about the characters.

A very interesting soundtrack, unusual drawing, but still an incomprehensible plot.
Let's see what happens. It's intriguing :)

Finally, I've come across something unique - when watching, I don't subconsciously have thoughts like "I've already seen this in..."

It was something incredible on a sensory level. I can't remember the last time I felt such a shock. Even if something was not clear in the plot, I just lost myself in my own feelings awakened by the response to this series. The music, the atmosphere, the characters – everything enveloped me and wouldn't let me stop. The 25 episodes were swallowed very quickly! It was funny later to read other people's reviews and agree that there are mistakes in the logic of the plot, that the latest episodes are the most tedious and stingy of events, that there are many flaws for which one could scold. But I can't, because all this came after, but during the viewing I felt incredibly good and incredibly interesting. I also realized that I really like the topic of cohabitation of different races, which is why I really adore Card's series about buggers and "his beastrats" – it's an amazing topic. I also remembered the 1968 film Planet of the Apes, which perfectly tried to show how the truths of one race look like madness to another. I was surprised by the world, of course it wasn't made from scratch, but its thoughtfulness and naturalness of everything that was happening looked strong. I really liked the ending, which turned out to be hidden initially. In general, there is a strong desire to review the series and experience much more, understanding what is happening more. And for the first time in an anime series, the horror genre really came out well, which I certainly didn't expect.
