Another series based on the works of the famous Dorothy Lee Sayers. Once again, it is quite rare for the British television industry to fail in staging a work with an English author, characters and location. Although Lord Peter Wimsey looks much more like the "original" here than in most other film adaptations, he does not behave at all like his dashing and charismatic prototype, which seriously spoils the impressions of the series, at least for viewers familiar with the original source, who like the book character, cheerful, energetic and a little naughty. And here he's kind of melancholic, with romantic, sad eyes and sad, pained intonations.

Perhaps the director made his character so frozen to show his "infatuation"? I don't know, fortunately, the attention to the romantic relationships of the main characters is not given excessively. The plot is very good, the stories are interesting and intricate, the intrigue is complex. It was shot quite simply, nothing outstanding, the picture is normal (for that time), they play diligently. Fans of detective stories of that time can easily watch it once.

Language. I didn't notice any slang or heavy regional accent. They speak very well, correctly and not too fast, but sometimes it's a bit difficult. It's clearer with subtitles.
