with angelic smiles on their faces...
unknowingly pass through the high gates and move on.
Their pure bodies and souls are hidden by dark school uniforms.
The folds on their skirts should not be noticeable,
their white collars should always be neat.
Only a slow step is appropriate here.
St. Lilianna's Girls' school...
is truly a garden of maidens.
The epigraph is enough to describe the whole atmosphere of Maria-sama ga Miteru, the church, faith and worship have always been the basis for art, the themes of paintings and musical works that have produced masterpieces of world classics. Each episode opens with almost classical music, opening the gates to pastel sketches that accompany us to the statue of the Virgin Mary.
I don't even remember if I've ever seen such a utopian world, steeped in happiness and true love for one's neighbor.
The local Catholic school is the exact opposite of Utena. The local society is overgrown with good traditions that bring girls closer together and warm their young hearts with warmth. The society here is pious and good-natured. Time passes slowly and steadily.
The graphics are kind of sluggish and brown, the animation is cheap. The third and fourth seasons are clearly growing and "becoming more expensive" in their appearance, but they still look somehow meager. Again, the plot clearly does not deteriorate from this, so I had to turn a blind eye to the drawing.
In a corner of paradise, dramas in the style of the 17th century are being created, when the court ladies went to visit each other and out of boredom spread gossip stronger than Greek mythology. For some reason, all these small talk, measured action and girls pacified by love got into my soul. I really got into the series and watched it with great pleasure.
Anyway, how could they print a fictional story about a real person? It's kind of weird.
A wonderful episode, just touching to the point of tears!
...It's always very sad to let go of someone you've known for so long. The time spent with loved ones seemed to fly by completely unnoticed, and only when it's time to say goodbye do we want to do our best to delay the moment when they leave us. That's about how I felt watching this anime series. Just like the students of St. Liliana's school, I was sad that the graduates were leaving this place, because in fact, to some extent, they all became like my family, and I didn't want to let them all go at such a moment. But on the other hand, I am glad that they have taken an important step into adulthood, and therefore I would like to wish them all good luck and say not "goodbye", but only "goodbye"!
Yes, what a wonderful series it is! 😊
I have been putting off this anime for a long time, a little doubtful whether I would like such a leisurely course of history in it. However, when I decided to watch it, I was very, very impressed with how such a seemingly uncomplicated plot could turn into something beautiful, while attracting so much attention!
Why am I writing this? Oh, yeah... I just wanted to say that this phrase, spoken in the last episode of "The Virgin Mary ...", fully describes my current state after watching this title. Indeed, having "thrown off the load" of the planned anime, I "filled the vacant place" in my heart with only joyful memories from watching it!
This is a really wonderful series, filled with its own atmosphere, which you just want to immerse yourself in for a long time. But alas, even if the whole plot is a "hasty step", but still, how imperceptibly all four seasons of this anime fly by! I don't want to leave the school, which has become such a dear place in this short time, with its students, with Roses and their Buds, and everyone else who was involved in this story! But I believe that we will meet again and again, all under the arches of the high gates of St. Lilianna's private school. And no matter what happens, remember: The Virgin Mary will always look out for you! ;-)
