It would seem that this is a great, fascinating topic - all kinds of investigations, infiltrations and covert operations, leaks, traitors and double agents, conspirators, terrorists and enemy intelligence services. The British are great at directing and filming spy series. But it turned out to be so improbable and boring that after the first episodes I couldn't even believe that it could actually be so fake. (It took me two whole seasons to make sure. I didn't look any further.) There are inexplicably many outright inconsistencies and absurdities, including the blatant lack of professionalism of elite agents, their elementary, stupid mistakes, childish irresponsibility and self-activity.
One well-known and not the most gullible person publicly "highly recommended" this series, as it was shot with the involvement of consultants who know "how MI5 works." Perhaps it was on the recommendations of these experts that the authors were careful to disclose the real methods and techniques of work, which they did very well, although they overdid it, in my opinion. Now, probably, all these "knowledgeable" consultants are just whooping away from this, if you'll excuse the expression, nonsense. Moreover, it was made in full, tedious seriousness, on the verge of the propaganda pathos of our worst spy films of the last century and without a hint of self-irony. And all this is also accompanied by pretentious music, sometimes overly disturbing, sometimes just indecently tragic. Filming this in the 21st century? There's even a comic effect, no parodies needed.
I still don't understand why there are so many nominations, awards and generally raptures. The plot is frankly weak, they play average (although the cast is quite good). Yes, the shooting and editing are really good, but I think that's not the main thing...
