An energetic, burly, noisy, unflappable and direct female priest in the small and very provincial village of Dibley in Oxfordshire. A conservative and eccentric community and a cheerful and unorthodox vicar, a pretty rural church and incredible rural eccentrics.

Admittedly, I expected that the main humorous emphasis would be on contrasting the sanity of a relatively young and uncluttered woman with the traditional "values" of the British countryside. However, most of the funny moments and gags are the nonsense of village freaks. Of course, there were quite witty humorous finds, but mostly it was the various eccentricities of the members of the parish council - an amazing collection of extraordinary, dense lunatics, with their own idiotic idiosyncrasies. The stability of the symptoms of their idiocy began to be felt after just a few episodes, and the jokes began to seem the same and predictable. Neither Alice's repeated clinical stupidity, nor another completely wild culinary combination could retain the initial freshness and novelty. A noticeable number of jokes about English people and the realities of that time also did not improve the perception.

It was delivered, filmed and mounted very simply, with only a few rooms and modest decorations. Good casting. They play with deliberate overkill, antics and light clowning. The reactions of the actors and their characters are more than exaggerated. It turned out to be a light, kind and slightly monotonous comedy with irreverent humor, strange characters and ridiculous situations.

Language. It is not very easy to understand, the pronunciation of many characters is far from exemplary in general, and they often speak quite quickly, carelessly and illegibly. And the words were not the most popular. Therefore, it was a bit of a pity that not all episodes of this verbose comedy had subtitles. Without them, some of the jokes remained incomprehensible to me.

It's a pity that this doesn't happen in life.
