Crime Story: Season 1

I note that it was shot very cool for 1986. But alas, it is no longer relevant in 2019... Personally, I didn't continue watching.

What a dynamic screensaver - with a speed of one title in 20 seconds))

The series seems to be quite leisurely (in our time), but that's why it's a pilot. I wonder what will happen next.

Bonus - teenager Christian Slater (can't play yet)

Although some of the antics and movements may seem overly theatrical by our standards, the characters of the show behave realistically: the rhythm of the show gives an unacceptable depth in relationships for those times. This is playing a cruel joke - in 86, it was much more difficult for the viewer to follow the end-to-end plot, the audience was not ready, the connection was broken. This is clearly visible on the example of his wife - their relationship is very non-trivial for both the 80s and the 60s, Mann seems to normalize a woman from right to left. And in general, Mann is usually considered a masculine, albeit non-toxic, director, but here you can see how strong his female Persians are (wife, Pam Greer).
It also occurred to me that the way Mann shows the mafia, we can consider this a bridge between Coppola's aestheticization and Scorsese (and/or David Chase) hyperrealism - Italian Americans are not total freaks, but they are no longer noble men.
