Although these series are declared as a prequel, but the events do not fit together. Rather, it looks like a reinterpretation of that story. How could things have turned out if the guys had talked to each other and tried to understand.
I got the feeling that the director wanted to do this, even through his characters, but to say those important words that should have been said in the past. An attempt to speak out again and let this story go.

Adolescence is probably the most vulnerable time in life, when you don't understand yourself, let alone anyone else. Such stories also need to be told in order to demonstrate another side, not only the romantic one.
The fact that this film is based on real events only makes it more painful, back in 2000 the world was still too closed
