We missed you!
Norman Reedus said in an interview that he lobbied to hire a showrunner for a man who had never worked on the Walking franchise. I am surprised that Gimple allowed this, but it was a wise decision. The series looks and feels completely new, unlike other spin-offs. It's not just about the French setting, but also about what topics are touched upon and how it was filmed - I don't remember such languid shots in the American series of the franchise.
Daryl's appearance in France could not be adequately prescribed, which was expected. Well, that is, seriously, in order to catch zombies, you had to swim across the ocean already? Didn't you find something closer to France? But Daryl's charisma takes you out, so you don't get hung up too much.
After the trailer, parallels with The Last of Us suggested themselves, but in fact they begin and end with the principle of "delivering a child from point A to point B". The plot, themes, characters and dynamics between them are completely different.
In general, I am satisfied - it turned out to be a fairly fresh and original series. However, I can't imagine how it can be adequately completed. It seems that in any case, the writers will let Daryl down - either he will leave his family in America, or his newfound one in France. Well, let's see. If only they did not slip into the typical Gimple cheap depression.
โ that's Laurent. he's Lily's boy.
โ Lily's boy? you've got your mother's eyes.
