@tyrell: I also want to point out that we have Michael Stipe playing in the credits - I Played the Fool; this is not an old R.E.M., this is ** Stipe's new song**, written specifically for the show, the first in three years. It will be the title song of the series. It suits him very well.
I laugh at me, I’m trying, trying.
Falling sometimes, sometimes flying
The song was created with producer Andrew Watt (Gaga/Pearl Jam), played by the drummer from blink-182 and the tour guitarist from Pearl Jam

Zach Braff: It's a great honor for me. I've always wanted to work as a director for HBO. [Bill] has been my mentor for 25 years, and I know exactly what he wants. Sometimes I offer him something out of the ordinary, and sometimes he lets me do it, and sometimes he cuts it out of the episode. I remember shooting all these insanely cool shots for Ted Lasso, and when I saw the final version, none of them were there, and I asked: "What happened to those shots?" He replied, "In this series, the camera won't play as important a role as the character." Bill respects my direction because our points of contact are script, comedy, storytelling and soul, but Bill is not as attracted to cameras and spectacular shots as I am. So we worked well together, because I know exactly what he wants from editing.
We have been working together in the editing room for 25 years. I can stand on set and watch another director work, and then just stop him and say, "Bill won't like this, don't do that." I know what he wants, but at the same time we're kind of dancing this fun dance: I'm shooting in a more traditional style so that he has a choice, but at the same time I'm trying to talk him into [another idea]. He understands that, so I think he likes me as a director. He knows I'll do exactly what he wants, but with the extra time I have, I'll try to push him into something cool that he probably didn't even think about.
