After watching the episode twice, I still think Adam is behaving very strangely: in the altered day, no one took away his free will from him - he chose a job, and Erica supported him, but he left anyway, blaming her, although she repeated twice that she was changing herself, not him.! I think he's a jerk.

Adam's personality and experiences, for obvious reasons, are not given the same amount of screen time, and therefore he needs to be soaked. The dude did not see himself in a serious relationship, he had never fallen in love with anyone before, which means he does not really know how to build them, as well as understand his feelings. Yes, perhaps such close interaction in his life with another person, while he is used to solving everything himself, pushes him away - that's why all Erica's attempts to avoid a quarrel lead to nothing. I think he just needed time, to step back and assess everything from the outside. And just don't tell me that this is not a mature position, etc. If everything in life was logical and orderly, then we would not be people, but robots.

Either Adam didn't learn his therapy at all and therefore behaves as if his therapy had never happened, or he needs to work much more on himself and it's not about Eric, but with any girl it would be like that, or the scriptwriters don't give a damn where Adam came from that they decided to merge him without any prerequisites to show that he such a bad guy will never change and cannot work on himself, and all this in order to bring Erica and Kai together.

Dr. Tom should have been working with Adam in this situation, not Erica. To a large extent, she was thinking sensibly. Like an adult. Adam has some kind of teenage behavior changes: he buys a motorcycle (although, as I understand it, his finances are not very good), then he decides to drop out of school without even talking to his soulmate.
