PLOT HOLE:
If there is a completely dead body of Betts in the coffin, he could not regenerate from this body after an accident. So he first grew a new body and decided to get rid of the old one. But why fake death 6 years ago? I could get rid of the body quietly and continue to live my life.

And the moment of rebirth or regrowth was nasty and creepy, which I liked. Now modern TV shows would like to take a little bit of this.
