It seemed to me that the Rose performed by the room is not just everything that Stephen would like it to be - but rather a collective image of Greg and gems. The moment when she showed her thumb reminded Greg very much, when she sat down and motioned for Stephen to sit down - Garnet, the moment with the ball (and a reference to Charlie Brown, by the way) - Amethyst, well, everything that he personally heard about/ from her
