So, what do we have: 1. The "divine" wormhole; 2. The "extra" people for whom it is intended to be a new home; 3. A tempting opportunity to get rid of problems and/or gnawing emotions; 4. The main character, who has the courage to make a difficult decision, knowing in advance about the consequences. And all together it adds up to a story about the substitution of reality, about WHAT defines everyone as a person and a personality. The series complements and expands the original story, a good adaptation, a colorful cast, a wild atmosphere is available. Gorgeous!
The series is just wonderful. I really like this series. Unfortunately, I have not read the stories, but I really, really want to do it. P.S. How Timothy Spall has aged after all...
@irishkakoroleva: There's nothing stopping you from reading them as the episodes come out. There's a maximum of five to ten minutes for a story. For example, that's exactly what I do.
@sobaka2017: There were links to the collection of all the stories in the comments: flibusta.is/b/489478 — all three are there and some of the next ones will be there too.
I transferred all three to the telegraph, in case you suddenly don't have a VPN: http://telegra.ph/Kapyushonshchik-10-05 http://telegra.ph/Planeta-kotoroj-ne-bylo-10-05 http://telegra.ph/Proezdnoj-bilet-10-05
Travel ticket (The Commuter) The little man slowly pushed his way through the crowd of people who filled the foyer of the railway station to the ticket window. He was tired, and you could tell by the way his shoulders sagged, and even by the way his brown coat sagged. He was waiting impatiently for his turn. —Next," breathed Ed Jacobson, who was selling tickets. The little man shoved a five-dollar bill through the window. "Give me a ticket, the old one is over," he stared at the clock hanging behind Jacobson. "Oh, my God, is it really that late?" Jacobson took five dollars. — O.K. Travel card. To which station? —Macon Heights,— the little man replied. —Macon Heights,— Jacobson looked at the diagram. — Macon Heights? There is no such station. The little man's face froze. He looked at Ed suspiciously. — Is this some kind of joke? — Mister, there is no such place as Macon Heights. I cannot sell you a ticket if there is no such station. — What do you want to say? I live there! — I don't care. I've been selling tickets for six years now. There is no such place. The little man's eyes bulged in amazement. — But I have a house there. I go there every night. I... " Here,— Jacobson handed him his diagram. — Look for it. The little man grabbed the diagram and began frantically running his trembling fingers through the list of cities. — Have you found it? Jacobson asked, sticking his head out the window. "He's not here, is he?" The little man shook his head. He was visibly shaken. — I don't understand anything. That's nonsense. There must be something wrong. Surely there must be some kind of… And suddenly he was gone. The diagram fell to the concrete floor. Shorty was gone—Before Ed could blink, Shorty was gone. —Holy Ghost,— he breathed. His mouth opened and closed noiselessly. And only the diagram remained lying on the concrete floor. Shorty ceased to exist.
— And then what? Bob Payne asked. — I went out into the lobby and picked up the diagram. — Did he really disappear? — Well, yes, he disappeared, — Jacobson wiped the sweat from his forehead. "It's a pity you weren't around. He disappeared as if the lights had been turned off. Absolutely. Mute. No movement...
Why insert the text of the original story here? Moreover, it is only the very beginning. It's easier to give a link: http://lib.ru/INOFANT/DICKP/ticket.txt_with-big-pictures.html
I really liked the series. The main character was given the opportunity to change his life, get rid of what makes his family unhappy. I'm still not sure if he did the right thing by refusing. After all, the son seems to have real mental problems and perhaps he will break the life not only for himself, but also for others. Of course, maybe the father thought he could prevent this or just put up with it and accept the consequences of his son's actions. In any case, the point of no return has been passed for him and we have an open finale of his choice in front of us. P.S. it seems this is still the best of 3 episodes, everything is very harmonious and in its place.
After the nonsense of the previous two episodes, I watched the third one with pleasure. For a long time I remembered where I saw the main character - it's Peter Pettigrew :)
@Basson: nothing at all - I have a lot of questions there that no one has answered so intelligibly. All this can be read in the comments to the series.
Can someone explain to me? It turns out that she takes people to Macon Heights who are undesirable in society? But then why did she take the waitress? Or did she give up on her own in order not to suffer in the real world? And yet, at the end of the episode, this man in a coat (who harms children) said that he tried to come back, but it didn't work out because he had no choice. But then he went and got on the train... why do some stay there overnight and some go back?)
And the series is cool, much better than the previous one, as for me.
@rock_dawg_: mb those who remain are people "who got rid of" like the main character from his son. And the dude from the preacher, who harms children, also wanted to return his life to the way it was before the first visit to this paradise, but could not, unlike the main character And also, I orgasm with my eyes every time I watch an intro, it's just tin))
Each episode has its own twist, but I think this series is one of the best)) You can understand Ed why he wanted to return everything as it was, who has children (whatever they grow up to be), that is, a happy memory (as on the tapes), the first steps of the child, the first words...It's all touching
The transfer to modern times did not deprive the series of a wild atmosphere. At the same time, the picture is very suitable, as if I'm rereading it again...
Everything is fine, but the only question is how such a crowd of people who go there every single day (and even if only on weekends) could not trample at least some kind of path across that lawn. Or is the grass there renewed every day too?
so far, the best series of the trez I've watched. I'm looking forward to the next one)) I hope you like it even more as it is rolled up. and thanks for the link to the text of the story )
The main character is just a selfish hypocrite. In a week, he will definitely regret his choice. Moreover, his son will definitely kill someone. Take it that way and decide the fate of several people at once on the basis of emotions!
@BettyJane: This is reminiscent of most opinions about the finale of the Last of us game. Feelings for our loved ones are what make us human, the desire to be with someone you love. It may be selfish, but it's the most natural thing. This is the kind of behavior that people tend to have, not a sober calculation. That's why this story is so touching.
@dariabr: True: Black mirror is a fantasy anthology series true: Electric Dreams is a fantasy anthology series wrong: Electric Dreams "It's one hundred percent Black mirror!"
I have not read the stories, I have not heard about this writer before this series, I am not looking for hidden meaning and I do not dig thoroughly into plots and blunders. I just watch and enjoy the atmosphere and music of each episode. besides, after the black mirror, I haven't seen anything like this for a long time and I consider it a breath of fresh air for myself :
The first and second series were not impressed. They were so unimpressed that I watched the third one three or four months later. but this one brought back faith in the series and now I'm thinking whether it's worth looking at the next one or not..
now I do the opposite: first I watch, then I read. the series turned out great, but again there was a slight residue in the form of a "prediction of the future" from madama, who does not even exist and how she knows all this is not clear. I liked Jamie Vue's description in the story and the fact that the unfulfilled past came true. the story is much more positive, imho.
One unanswered question is why, before visiting the mysterious city, the main character's partner did not have children, and after the first visit, he had as many as three children and all from different women? How does the city have an impact on the partner's reality, he wasn't even there?
@pretty_thing: I've been watching it for a long time (by my standards) and I don't remember exactly, but it seems that the bottom line is that reality has changed just the same not for my partner, but for GG himself, that is, he, consider, got into a new world for himself..
@pretty_thing: Yes, FRFD wrote correctly, his son was not just taken away, it was made as if he had never been born, coupled with all the other decisions of the visitors, the destinies of people change significantly, forming a new reality.
