Oh, how sharply the season begins, right from this long-standing conflict between the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Yes, children who won't see their father for almost six months, and a mother who is busy all the time... it's difficult for the kid's mind and condition. It's good that they still have their own piece of childhood with trips on holidays to friends.
At the expense of Philip's family, sister Margot is absolutely right by the way, and Lilibet is of course very clumsily trying to re-establish ties, but that's the thing — the church did not forbid their wedding with Filka, but she and Peter forbade it, and whatever Elizabeth did, it still remained that way.
The Mountbattens all have egos, and problems with wives. But on the other hand, the famous marriage advice from Uncle Dickie has a pretty good effect for the queen, he takes extremely nice care of her.
I don't like the way Lilibet's hair is combed, she was a little younger, such cute soft curls, and now this high forelock is generally terrible. Philip's whining, to put it mildly, is fed up, if I listen to him for another season, I'll go nuts. It is clear that he is a bird in a golden cage, but he chose this cage himself, as long as he can curl up, kick and accuse his wife of all mortal sins. "Because you're confused." And this is the truth. I can understand his resentment, he considers this trip a link, but in fact Elizabeth no longer saw any other way out, nothing helped, and she decided that separation, living without each other would benefit them. But sometimes, if the gap between you is so deep, it will not allow you to bridge it even more, but on the contrary, it will not allow you to build it.
@chch93: So unexpectedly happy and cheerful right before the trip, as if at the beginning of a joint journey, my heart ached from this picture... These pranks, kisses on the neck almost all over the yard, how I missed them, sparks from Matt and Claire at least translate into energy. Apparently, after all, the royal husband was inspired by the journey, he started up like that. And here is Philip's infidelity, about which legends were made up. I never really believed in her, maybe he allowed himself to flirt, but no more, and the portrait of the lady could even give him herself. Uh, I just don't understand why Ulanova, Philip has such a wide list of alleged mistresses, and I don't remember her going there at least once.
The armed seizure of the Suez Canal, thank God, was shown without much bloodshed, but then they dispersed with large-scale hostilities in earnest. Mmm, and our Soviets successfully took advantage of the situation, and let's establish ties with an Arab friend. Eden and his wounded ego (how men are the same in places, I'm lying around), these attempts to prove that you can do something, and you can do better, only led him and the country into a hopeless situation, and the leader has no right to allow himself such a thing. Just give the boys a reason to play war, and now the Queen has to sort out this shit for them. And what remains for her, she cannot forbid him, it is not in her power. Interestingly, the crisis within marriage and the external crisis of the country converged almost at one point. It has never been so difficult for Elizabeth to be a monarch and a woman at the same time.
Indeed, the series perfectly fulfills its educational role, I do not part with the search bar even for twenty minutes of the series.
@switch-twitch: not only does the ballerina dance at a great distance, they look at her through binoculars to see what she can see in the auditorium, she is also blinded by spotlights, through which all the artists just look straight ahead, just not at the very light. There is no need to look for hidden subtext where it does not exist and cannot be.
How disgusting it was to watch people die, lose their loved ones, their homes, everything they had, while the Queen prays, lies down in a starched crib and grieves because her stupid husband cheated on her again...
