@NeverLoved: The book was written by Neil Gaiman and Pratchett, the geniuses of fantasy, so I strongly advise you to read it. there are plot twists, it would be boring without it, although the narrative is rather not built on shocking.
@cinnamon88: I've already read Pratchett in its entirety, from January to March, it's impossible to tear myself away :) And Good Omens somehow missed out on a bunch of other books with co-authors that I skipped. I'm going to read Gaiman's works separately first, thank you. UPD: Oh, did he write the American Gods? Then I'm definitely going to read tonight.
@imolja: it's just that if something fascinates me, I can't stop :) From the last one, I sat down to touch the Persona 5 game and from May 5th to May 20th I accidentally played it for 90 hours.
@NeverLoved: Gaiman has repeatedly said that the series does not 100% repeat the book, something has been added, something has been changed. Plus, he rewrote the ending so that those who know the original source by heart would not relax. :)
@треугяш123: about 20 minutes after I saw it for the first time, I rewound and started watching it from the beginning, and then as soon as I saw the photos from the shooting in the tape, I reviewed them again. I love both the book and the cast too much. ♥
@DarvTormen: I wouldn't be surprised if the director is a fan of the tenth. But in general, if you think about it, stylistically the roles themselves are quite close, the tenth is still a trickster if you do not look purely at the external positive side. PS Why not, I've reviewed the trailer ten times purely because of the doctor's intonation and the expression "-I don't even like you. - You do!"
@DarvTormen: Yes, yes. He looks like A Doctor. He reminded me here of a kind of mixture of a Doctor and another doctor from the movie "It pisses me off to be normal." He played Dr. Laing there.
In general, the first thought when you see him in the series, with this familiar facial expressions and stretched phrases ... HE IS FINALLY GINGER!! :D
We waited! It looks very promising, with such an easy serve, a long series flies by unnoticed. And how perfectly the actors are chosen, you can't take your eyes off. I hope that everything will only go on incrementally.
The chemistry between Michael Sheen and David Tennant is amazing. During one episode, they changed the image several times, what will happen in the next series. P.S. Jokes about dinosaurs and ducks in St. James's Park are particularly popular. And there's also a joke about the fact that people staged World War II, and Crowley reported that this and the Spanish plague were his handiwork.
Uhh! Proper. I am very glad that they did not alter Pratchett and Gaiman, but did everything according to the book. Despite the fact that I reread it just a week ago, I look at it with great interest.
What soundtracks, what rich colors, what an atmospheric screensaver! Gorgeous Tennant with gorgeous red hair, God (or Satan?), send me a babysitter like that too! And the voiceover is awesome, for sure the text of the book is almost verbatim, but what intonations are better than the voice in my head when reading!
Aaaaaah, we waited!🎉 I'm thrilled! The big plus is that the narrative in the series is no different from the book! Tennant is wonderful as Crowley, and Michael just perfectly conveyed the character of Aziraphale! We will look further~
It's not that I doubted it would be a cool series, but even I didn't expect it to be so good. I was pleasantly surprised by how accurately the creators managed to adapt the book. I was afraid in vain that the film adaptation would lose its trademark humor - the atmosphere is 100% conveyed. Tennant, as usual, is very cool, and Shin plays great. I haven't watched the next episodes yet, but I can tell you for sure: It's going to be something amazing.
@Langolier: The same scene was in the book and it also explained who gets where. And I personally really liked the first episode. The Dog was especially pleased, there was a very sweet moment in the book and it was not spoiled :)
I didn't come in at first.. But towards the end of the series, I suddenly liked it! And yes, I haven't read the book, but I remember Tennant not only for Jessica, but also for a good movie about a maniac.
Poor cerberus, his teeth are the envy of a shark, and his master wants him to be small and smart. Such perplexity on the muzzle - how is it the owner? are we not going to tear anyone into small pieces?) The hairstyle-changing Crowley is beautiful! Aziraphale and sushi - you can watch it endlessly)
perhaps the only disadvantage of this series is the lack of a long monologue by drunken Crowley about infinity (about a bird that sharpens a diamond mountain with its beak, wink-wink, by the way, the twelfth Doctor had a similar monologue, that would be an interdimensional crossover)
Did you notice the reference to the doctor? When Crowley brought the child to the nuns and met Adam's future father, he called him "the doctor." It's so cool!
"If thare was no boy, the process would stop." "Yeah, but there is a boy. He's over there. Writing a rude world on a description of a dinosaur." "Well, there's a boy now. Something could happen to him." "???" "I'm saying you could kill him."
It's not a reference in the book, but how well it fits into the film adaptation. If they had taken it out of the script, they would not have been forgiven :D
It's funny to read the comments on the first episode.: those who have read the book are mostly delighted; those who have not read it are hating XD Some kind of parallel universe - usually the opposite is true)) I also like everything so far. The drunkenness of Crowley and Aziraphale and them in the images of the nanny and the gardener are scenes that I really wanted to see on the screen even while reading the book. Both Sheen and Tennant, in my opinion, did a great job!
I didn't understand. Both heaven and hell want to arrange an apocalypse on earth with the help of the birth of the Antichrist. What for? All the explanations are very vague, I don't understand.
@Neznakomka_Kau: Most likely, they're just tired of it. Aziraphale and Crowley want to prevent all this just because they live on earth, among the people they are used to. To heaven and hell, people are probably just like annoying ants.
A small interesting detail, for those who have not read the original - at the 28th minute, where a policeman (traffic warden) ignites a notebook, this is still the work of Aziraphale. There they have a small dialogue that the angel always thought that traffic wardens is an invention of the hellish side, and the demon answers him that he always thought that the angelic side tried. Aziraphale is not as white and naive as it may seem)
Great first episode! I recently reread the original source, so I can say that everything was done very closely, and the series is sooooo Pratchett. It's a pity that the short dialogue about the policeman's notebook was removed, I really liked it, and the metamorphoses of Cerberus were shortened (probably, the budget was not enough). As it is, everything is cool, Sheen and Tennant are just fire (no one doubted it), and I'm just upset with the gardener and the babysitter! Seriously, I've read the book twice and it never occurred to me that Nanny Ashtaroth is Crowley in disguise! The only thing that confused the series was the quality of the graphics (on the other hand, the very tone of the narrative makes very realistic graphics optional) and Crowley's wings (someone explain to me why they were made black, otherwise I don't understand this particular series idea). I also really liked Frances McDormand's voice, even though I had imagined that the narrator would be a man. And after the plastic-white paradise and the angel on the gyro scooter, I remembered the "Miracle Workers" and wanted to joke that Steve Buscemi is God here too.
@Raventree: Well, the quality of the graphics is definitely the biggest disadvantage of the series, but they realize that they cannot succeed in this and do not use it often, and eventually they stop paying attention to it altogether)
@NotItemName: Well, I'm just nitpicking, graphics are the third thing, in fact, without a good script and acting, it's nothing (it didn't save Game of Thrones), and here Crowley's gaits are 10 out of 10 out of 10
@Raventree: The wings were changed in color, most likely purely to illustrate their membership in different camps. Although there could be a remark that demons have more well-groomed ones, somehow even in this case they can be beaten, but it is not fate.
@AshenKai: I also thought so, however, this does not particularly affect the narrative, as well as Crowley's gorgeous red hair, which according to the canon should be dark)
@Raventree: there was so much canon in the series that I didn't expect that you could somehow forget about the changed hair or eye color, especially when the hair color is truly gorgeous) Even the same Pepper, whom I wanted to see red-haired, did not cause any rejection in the film adaptation, since her appearance does not affect the plot at all. except that it parallels the War.
@AshenKai: Yeah, it's a very careful film adaptation, everyone would like that! And the changes here fit well, quite neatly. Yes, and a million jokes about the fact that the Doctor finally turned red are worth it : D C Pepper, yes, it doesn't catch my eye, I also have with many heroes of "American Gods": the fact that the Shadow is a mulatto, in my opinion, does not interfere with the plot in any way - he just took after his mother, no one, I can't imagine anyone other than Ian McShane as Wednesday, although he's also not a red-bearded man, as in the canon, and the technoboy of our time is just such an impudent skinny major in Balenciaga, rather than the way he was described in the books.
Listen, since you're not a racist, what's the difference? What if this isn't a movie about indigenous Celtic Irish and their oppression due to red hair and lack of soul?:) I've always been curious to ask those who leave such comments :)
@Sagi_UA: Thanks, cap :))) I wonder what the people who write this think. Maybe they have some non-racist arguments of their own - well, you never know%)
@LaFeeVerte: Well, there was a difference here: Pepper went out in the final battle to guard against the War, which was also red, or rather blood-red, but nevertheless - two females, similar to each other, this had its own symbolism, which is completely lost.
I've been waiting for this for so long... and it's amazing!!! Thanks to Ser Pratchett and Gaiman for the amazing book, and Tennant for the gorgeous image of Crowley. The humor in the series is funny))) Visually, everything is just "incredibly kosher." I look at it and realize that this is exactly how I imagined it when I read "Good Omens." I'm thrilled!!!
The screensaver is interesting (screensaver as a separate kind of art), but I think few people noticed that it has a shot of a phone booth standing, and the main characters are next to each other, drinking wine at the table, that's for sure a reference!:D Humor is right on the level, English is always good for me. I will be waiting for the translation from Lostfilm.
@vk716691: I also didn't understand why lost was so negative in all the series. And then I accidentally noticed what a difference in meaning they have.
@Tea_Maniac: In other countries, they teach gender in school, telling us that it's okay for a girl to love a girl, just as it's okay for a guy to love a guy. They know a lot. :)
@shei350: Uh, so my comment is not saying that sexism is "the love of girls for girls and boys for boys." My comment was that they are being prepared for such.. social moments. And if they are informed that they may encounter resistance regarding same-sex love, then there is 100% clarification about the oppression of women. As well as about racism.
I was looking for a worthy replacement for the TV series "American Gods", "The Chilling adventures of Sabrina", "Wizards" and "Lucifer". I don't really follow the news in the world of TV series, so I was pleasantly surprised that the series was based on Gaiman's book.
The series has the atmosphere that my soul wanted so much: angels, demons, gods, "refined pathos", subtle humor, beautiful picture, addictive plot.
@driveshaft: According to modern anthropology and genetics, all the first people in 4004 BC, or rather about 70-50 thousand years ago, were black. And they remained like that for another forty thousand years, and only then did they begin to acquire modern racial features. They weren't Negroes either, but their skin tone was similar.
@chapav: the phrase "I don't believe" does not apply to Pratchett's works - there may not be such a "game" and in general "caricature" and constant subtle banter is what many people love his works for. and Gaiman added a very good pathos. and what has happened so far is very encouraging)
It's beautiful and straight in the style that I wanted. The actors haven't really come in yet, but it's better than it could be. It's still very addictive.
For me, the beginning of the series was slightly delayed, but then just a masterpiece began. The interaction between Sheen and Tennant is SIMPLY AMAZING. They charmed me for 1 episode. I've honestly been waiting for this series because of my love for Tennant, and you know, I've BEEN WAITING for a REASON. He's gorgeous here. On the downside, I would say that the rest of the characters are pretty faded. I hope it will get better, after all, it's only 1 episode.
@Ytzin: Yeah, and then you watch the interview, and there's such a sweet, smiling man who, until recently, wasn't aware that the eggplant emoji doesn't exactly mean eggplant %))
@worship_santa: This actress was also starring with Tennant in the Russell T. Davis series "Casanova," which I recently watched. So I'm just thrilled. The British communal, as always, is assembled.
How many millennia have been waiting for a film adaptation of the book, and it turned out to be even more amazing than anyone could have imagined!! The jokes, the dialogues, the cast, the atmosphere, the chemistry between Sheen and Tennant - it all goes straight to the heart! I laughed the whole episode, noticed all sorts of references, and for a long time, in principle, the first episode did not leave such a pleasant impression after itself :) 10/10!
David Tennat's fans are here))) I don't think this series will be any cooler than the doctor, but I'm one of those doctoromaniacs who don't have enough Tennat! I need more movies and TV series with him!)))
From the screensaver, she disappeared into nothing - she is beautiful, like a thousand sunrises ♥
Tennant's gait, I think, should be banned by law, because it's impossible not to stick to these legs. Michael Sheen is such a nice girl in the role of Aziraphale, just moore-moore-moore :Z
Unfortunately, the first episode is about nothing.:(:( I was so upset, although the series was highly recommended , but the rating of the rest of the episodes is promising... (it felt like the voiceover was really enjoying the events, but I absolutely did not catch the highlight)
Crowley looks creepy, but it gives him a twist. Tennant is gorgeous, I've missed you, beloved Doctor, Shin is good too. In general, everything looks good, I don't have to be bored, I'm looking further.
from the book: The demon received a surname and, as we learn later, an initial, in honor of the famous British occultist Aleister Crowley (Edward Alexander Crowley (1875-1947) (Editor's note).
@vk504806: I finished reading the book and the comments on it yesterday. I remembered about your comment and decided to write))) in general, the third child is Fatty Johnson, who with his gang bullied Adam and his friends. He was adopted and returned to Tatfield. At the end of the book, Adam "gave" him a gift - Johnson came across a magazine with some particularly valuable tropical fish for his collection.
I'm fucking thrilled, and like any overly impressionable fan, I'd like to see the series continue. My heart sinks, s. Thank you for the film adaptation of Neil and Terry's incredible book <3 Tennant and Sheen are wonderful actors, Moore with:
What a sweet thing! I haven't read the book, but Queen's songs are just in my heart. And I still haven't figured it out, was it Freddy talking on the radio or was it Satan? Because it was labeled Satan in the subtitles. Wonderful plot, supernatural, light humor, references to pop culture, everything I love. And the actors, of course. Tennant is great, Shin is very nice, I keep watching.
@SophietheValiant: There is a regular broadcast on the air, in the midst of which Satan intervenes, contacting Crowley (i.e., the broadcast itself is going on as it was for people, it's only supernatural beings who hear others like themselves). Then the same thing will happen with the broadcast on television and the cartoon on the cinema screen.
- Armageddon is coming, and we have lost the Antichrist😂😂😂😂 Shikardos lullaby, just🤗👏🏽 Bobik My heart bleeds for the "third" baby, I was so hoping that my sister would still say that they were twins, but alas!😞😭
God, I want the same glasses as Crowley's! 3 P.S. : I'm not familiar with the book ( the original source), perhaps this is a reason to get acquainted with it ;) even screamed at some points, I hope there will be enough similar moments in the book too. Otherwise, I know "these" film adaptations...
How ironic that Adam and Eve are dark-skinned, but it's cool)) Tennant as Crowley is gorgeous "Glory to Satan" wahh. What did the creators smell when they came up with the screensaver for the series??? I only regret that I discovered this masterpiece so late!
God is a woman - just lovely)))) But when she speaks, along with the music and intonation, it sounds like Desperate housewives, it's hard to believe that it's not on purpose) And the screensaver with the garden of Eden...)) I was captivated by the way Crowley's character was translated into the words he uses: soryan, konesh, nishtyak, che like))))) Hastur and Ligur are very colorful, like the sisters of the talkative order))))
Great series) I haven't read the book, but I wanted to. The actors are super, they're so funny, their jokes aren't flat either, and the costume designer did his best) It's interesting to watch. The first episode has arrived, which I am glad of)))
Cerberus is so cool. Probably, no one expected that there would be nothing left of the sinister dog except its color and it would be the cutest creature. 😊
It's a fascinating beginning, especially if you watch a cube inside a cube. The composition is brilliant. The idea is also interesting. I'll keep looking
Beautiful is a British-American fantasy miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The series is set in 2018. The demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, having managed to stick to life on Earth, strive to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and at the same time the final battle between Heaven and Hell.
Interesting.. it turns out that everyone has long known the script in detail. And they are waiting for a spectacle for a long time. Imagine if you know every detail (think you know) how everything will be, because the screenwriter published the manuscript before and is dragging with the release. A nagging sense of expectation. And you have already taken the side of godnot \ slag. This is not an independent book, namely a TV series or a movie without an announcement
I'm reviewing it a second time before watching the second season. It's just as cool as the first time. But there's a question about the plot. Crowley didn't remember what the child's father looked like? Maybe the book explains this point somehow? It's clear that he saw him briefly, and he's probably not interested in people, but still...?
I still didn't understand who got which child...I shook it three times...A simple couple has the Antichrist..their child to the ambassador...And the ambassador's child for adoption?
