It was strong,
It was sad.
The ending didn't make me shed a tear, I rather feel a certain emptiness.
There were TOO MANY sudden plot twists and deaths, which indicates the signs of a decent title.
Especially for fans of watching an opinion about the series that has not yet been viewed, I will not comment on the ending, you will find out for yourself.

at first I waited until the last for a trick, then I still hoped for a good ending, although I kind of knew that it wouldn't happen... Now I really feel so empty.
It's probably actually the best thing I've watched. Nice drawing, great soundtrack, openings and endings - love. It's not often that anime makes me go straight to read manga, and then right from the first series.
I don't even know what to say. It seems that almost every episode made me cry, I wonder how the creators managed to weave humor into it, which was just right.
Probably, one can only dream of such a soulmate connection as Ash and Agee have...
Perhaps, up to the death of the Shorter, it clung, there was a whole plot, there was a tie, there were hints of the main goal (to reveal and publish information about the fish, to publish information about the Goldzini club). And after that, a lot of disparate scenes began, the meaning of which, to be honest, I no longer remember, despite careful viewing. A scenario in the style of "kidnapped - need to save - a moment of peace - repeat from the beginning."
Of the really catchy moments, only the monologue about the leopard and the idiotic ending of Ash's line, who was previously represented as an immortal terminator, and then they took it and merged it. This drain can only be justified by the fact that going to the library to finish reading the letter (and clearly not having time to ask for help) is a conscious decision of the character. In any other case, it will really be a very stupid plot move, designed for increased tear squeezing.
But plus to the creators for having decided on such a thing, it's rare.
From just good moments - an adequate completion of the Goldzini line and the further disclosure of him as a character.
Of the pleasant moments - Blank, when he's in the frame, it's just nice to watch, no matter what he does. Immediately plusominus - hints that Ash may be Blanca's own son have not been commented on in any way.
In general, for the age of 18 years, the story contains everything you need to spread out on the floor in a thin puddle and try your best to empathize with the heroes with taste. After that, when there is already a lot of serial experience, the desire to empathize with the characters is easily overlapped by attempts to follow the plot and understand that the authors have just forgotten a little about the whole narrative.
The result is a solid confident four.

I believe that he took his last step quite consciously, realizing that the world in which he lived all these years will never let him go, and he has no place next to Agee. The last hope was shattered at the moment when a knife pierced his body. What is there to live for now, when all the enemies are defeated, there is no brother, your hands are up to the elbows in blood, and you are afraid to drag into the next scrapes the only person who accepted you for who you are and did not demand anything in return? He no longer saw any sense in his continued existence. Otherwise, I would have asked for help.

The characters are alive, you believe them. There are no perfect ones. What is insanely important and indicative for me in Ash's character is still a craving for light. Despite all the pain, trauma and horror, he felt and loved.
The ending of this story is sad, but at the same time liberating. Everyone has a chance for something of their own. Ash will always stay with them, he and Shorter.

He, who has taken so many murders on his soul, in her opinion, will not be able to live in a new calm, clean world. Only that's why she didn't think Ash was still a child!! Yes, he has been through hell, but damn the child! It would have been much calmer if the final had been completely open, if they had all gone their separate ways, in the end I think Ash would have been much better off in the Caribbean with Blanca. They would have found a therapist and cured the guy's psyche.
2. Agee, even being not near, but through a letter, puts Ash's life at risk. Damn, through the whole season, the same pattern! If there had been no letter, Ash would still be alive.
I'm not even that upset or in tears, I'm just terribly angry, apparently time is taking its toll, what was the norm for storylines 30-35 years ago is not rolling at all now, people, their orientation and perception have changed, it was necessary to take this into account when screening.
