@NotItemName: planet Kharkiv-8, I rewound it myself 2 times, I thought I heard it)) The correct approach would be if he was an electric shaver Kharkov, and not a robot for cleaning the basin))
At the beginning of the series, I thought that the plot would be about a psychopathic artist who did not have enough canvas to make Zima Blue the background of the entire universe and he released a virus into the world that changes the structure of the human eye, forcing it to see only blue shades.
it's like a story about an ascetic who was so passionate about his asceticism that he first gave everything he had, then everything he was wearing, then his arms and legs and body to forest animals, and when only one head remained of him, he sang and laughed happy at his simplicity. and a wolf came out of the forest at the noise and asked him, "What are you happy about? You don't have anything else. and I'm going to eat your head now," after which the wolf ate the ascetic's head and the forest became quiet again.
@Falka: as far as I remember, this is a story from Japanese Shintoism (which absorbed a lot from Buddhism). and the general meaning is purely Buddhist - do not go to extremes and there is nothing better than the golden mean, the Buddha himself learned this truth by falling from one extreme, in the form of a jaded rich life, to the other extreme - asceticism
@SleepyRaccoon: In the original, he says "This is that same pool. I had it dug up. Moved here". But this is so, just a minor quibble. PS At least they explained what the disadvantages are, gentlemen minuses.
I don't think there are doubts about this series - a beautifully illustrated simple truth, but everyone will find something different in this series, in my opinion the best
@ChrisRedfield: There was a robot vacuum cleaner, it was upgraded to a Human. The man became an artist. Then he upgraded himself to an all-weather robot, after which he upgraded himself to a vacuum cleaner robot.
@ChrisRedfield: most likely, the fact that Winter was a man, and then only upgraded is a tabloid fiction, a beautiful story for readers, as we now know a lot of nonsense about celebrities rather than the truth. And Winter is simple for this reporter, told true story
@ChrisRedfield: When the journalist talked about him, she thought (like the rest of the world) that he was a human, and then became a robot (turning into a cyborg in Kharkov). The whole world was only speculating about the history of this artist at the level of rumors (for example. the phrase "they say he started by painting portraits), that is, no one knew his exact history. In fact, it turned out that the guesses were not correct, and all this time it was just a developing robot, which he eventually told her about at the meeting
@ChrisRedfield: gt;well, people couldn't imagine it so easily, without reason People could. Come up with it first. Then make it a rumor, and then believe it and make it a story. People are generally "talented."..
@jrndwyn: No, he just fucked up and was like, fuck it and pressed "off" in fact, this series glorifies suicide in the name of nothing. because any living free being has the right to do so. something like "I can, I can, I practice" with pathos, a staged suicide should be extremely liked by those who are young (they are good at it) or those who are also fucked up, and they just enjoy the idea that they can drop everything and screw over the horizon (but pissing) that is, in fact There is no idea. because there is no meaning in life either. it was not there initially, because it is not a necessary thing for the survival of the species. In general, any species (from scolopendra to humans) can successfully survive, relying solely on reproduction and satisfaction of hunger alone. and the "meaning" is like a bogged-down dls for a game in which you are constantly being hurt.
An interesting idea. It seemed a little different to me. If you try to look from the perspective of the character and the history of the development of his work, it is clear that he was always trying to find something, some kind of his own truth. He aspired to the stars, to other planets, further, higher. And at some point he realized that it was not necessary, that what he was looking for were the very tiles in the pool that he saw in the first moments of awakening his consciousness. That the meaning of his existence is not among the stars, not existence as an idol, watched by hundreds of eyes, but just there, in that pool, thoughtlessly and calmly.
Perhaps the authors wanted to show that your happiness may not be somewhere far away, but very close. And it may turn out to be so outrageously simple, it's lucky that you won't be able to accept it yourself right away.
@Villariba: the debate about whether unicellular animals are happy has been going on for a long time) Rousseau believed that the golden age of mankind, the highest happiness, was far in the past, when higher brain functions were simply not needed (I don't know if there were philosophers who supported this idea before him).
@shei350: We can assume that happiness appeared at the same moment as unhappiness. and the simplicity of unicellular cells is like a gray area where there is neither happiness nor unhappiness, because there is nothing to judge them. perhaps they don't even distinguish life from death, because the flowchart of their perception of the world and survival in it is too simple. another interesting thought is that a person with his incredibly complex perception and interpretation of the world is able to artificially immerse himself in a trance of "eternal happiness". it's like meditating on a yellow rose when a person was hurt, but by visualizing a yellow flower (under the guidance of a hypnotist), he translated the pain signals in the brain into signals of bliss. the result was similar to a form of religious ecstasy, when a person could be burned at the stake for his religion, but he walked on it and did not feel pain (the Bible cited such a case with a certain saint, or it was the lives of saints, I do not remember exactly)
@bobosha: This is one of the versions. a little later, I also agree that the meaning here can also be a simple and unpretentious return to the primary state.
they wrote to me exactly - "That the meaning of his existence is not among the stars, not existence in the role of an idol watched by hundreds of eyes, but just there, in that pool, thoughtlessly and calmly."
I wrote - "and, most likely, the general message of the series is exactly as you described it" and so on
here you can attribute a lot of different meanings and choose which one you like best, because there is not a word or half a word about this in the series
with the same success, one can also assume that the little pool cleaner is actually a terrorist atomic bomb with self-learning AI, which has gone a long way to being introduced into human society in order to one day gather the entire ruling elite in one place and, under the guise of a notable performance, shun them well and spray them all into atoms. and then the credits roll, and after them the final scene, about how this bomb went so far to make its plans come true that even those who made it managed to die many centuries ago, and today's people think that Isis is the name, and Hamas is a province on Mars
a friend suggested another interesting side of the interpretation related to racism. the robot was created by a black scientist and subsequently he lived and worked in a black family, then he became a free man and began to assert himself in every possible way in the world of white people, achieving everything that is considered cool by whites (to become successful, famous, great, celebrity). in the end, having achieved everything, he realized that in order to truly free himself from the existing system, he needed to return to the roots. at the same time, showing absolutely his own will. something like that.)
@darthtatyan: 1. As mentioned above: in the original, the creator was a man from Flint Valley. I doubt that he was black, since they made a woman out of him, especially a black one - clearly more a tribute to modern times. Moreover, Netflix has already done so(well, who would doubt it) in the first episode: in the original, the rape was invented by the heroine. 2. Through all his main works and through the entire series, the blue color passes - through it, and it is necessary to look for the basic interpretation that has already been given above. 3. On the contrary, it is emphasized that he never cared about fame and self-affirmation.
@jrndwyn: The bottom line is that creative search and development can be endless and bring final satisfaction, unlike well-done and completed pool cleaning work (well, or any kind of mechanical work, washing dishes, for example).
I understood the series this way: a person / mind is a pile of skills, knowledge, experience, someone else's influence, upbringing, complexes and other things. This character tried to understand his essence through art, to find his purpose (which was lost among the many upgrades and years of existence). We all have our own purpose, what we were born for, and when we realize ourselves, we look for the origins, separate the wheat from the chaff until we remove all unnecessary things (like the character in the series) and find the "reason", the quintessence of ourselves. And yes, sometimes the purpose does not have to be high in the eyes of society. All our lives, thinking that you were created to be an artist, but at the same time feeling dissatisfied and unhappy, we are afraid to admit to ourselves that we actually get moral and psychological satisfaction from less prestigious activities in the eyes of society (cleaning the pool, for example). I hope it turned out to convey exactly what I mean)
And of course, it's not just about the transition from the highest to the lowest. People are all different: someone is happy cleaning, someone is happy painting, someone is happy doing business. The main thing is to be honest with yourself, analyze yourself sufficiently and stop depending on someone else's opinion. It seems to me that Maugham's novel "The Moon and the Penny" is also talking about the same idea.
@jrndwyn: the point is that the robot was performing a simple tile cleaning program, performing which it fulfilled its purpose, and different owners hung a bunch of other things on top of its main program and everything got mixed up and since the main program was working anyway, he slowly sought to turn the whole world into a pool of tiles, so that he could clean it later It's just as he originally intended.
But on the way to this, he realized that he could not remake the world (well, or it would take a long time) and he just accepted himself as a little robot pool cleaner.
A powerful series! "Flowers for Algeron" - only instead of the inevitability of fate, the triumph of the mind that made a conscious decision to downgrade for the sake of simple "cleaning" happiness. A very strong series and story!
Finally, a series that I really liked after the seventh. The idea is really interesting, that you can endlessly search for something, but happiness mainly lies in something very primitive.
@Slimov: actually, it is, there was an experiment where people were followed for 70 years and they were asked at the end what is the most important thing in life and what brings happiness.
@bobosha: It was on a TED Talk show, right? The participants in the experiment were photographed throughout their lives and made notes about what they consider important at the moment. it was an experience, actually, not to find out what is important in life, but what exactly ultimately prolongs a person's life and makes it rich and memorable. At the very end, the overall result turned out to be that those people who had strong social ties did not stay alone and were happily married-married - lived longer, felt better and considered their lives happy. that is, experience has shown that happiness is not in simplicity at all, but about how loneliness (or the presence of destructive social ties) adversely affects human health and functionality , not a word was said there that the more primitive a person lives, the better.
Not obligatory. All people are different. The main thing is to be honest with yourself and not try to put yourself on the same page with everyone else.
People, barely realizing themselves and their existence, stubbornly searched for the meaning of life. We hate the idea that this is all just a coincidence. We need purpose, meaningfulness, importance, and the realization that it's all for a reason. And we search, dig, figure it out, get there, reach deeper, further, higher, stronger, do the impossible, revealing the secrets of the universe. When, perhaps, it doesn't matter. And the answer may be very simple. And known for a long time. You just have to accept it.
if the opportunity to evolve, become aware and (as an option) develop an artistic talent of universal scale is included in the set of disabled higher mental functions, then OK (parable, etc.), otherwise - the irony of the meta level, about (t) second-order strangeness, and from the audience both by the pool and at the screen (everyone was a little deceived)
I realized a long time ago that the happiness of my existence in TV series and rolls, even a high IQ was not required to realize this, cake. All pool cleaners can exhale!
@shei350: They were invented by a German scientist. and further, these tests were used more than once to provide a "scientific" basis for the idea of intellectual superiority of whites over the colored population of residents of the United States (and other white colonies around the world, India, China, and so on) in order to further justify "scientific racism", segregation, and even forced sterilization. (to be honest, at the moment the IQ tests have been significantly improved, all racist and sexist garbage has been thrown out of them, and it has been proven more than once that in developed countries with a normal standard of living and the absence of various kinds of discrimination, strong differences in the field of intellectual development among the population (of different genders and races) are not observed. but the tests are still far from perfect and in no way able to measure the "unforeseen" genius and still, as before, just measure the "average in the ward")
@Villariba: I agree, I've measured and received from 148 to 153, like the Einstein level, several times when it was interesting. What's the use? Yes, I sometimes notice a difference, but just so that I earn more money, or solve difficult life situations in a second, then no. So..
The graffiti was a variation on the classic Jim Beam whiskey advertisement, where the simplest hamburger evolved into a complex multi-layered sandwich, the sandwich into an even more intricate baguette, and the baguette again into the original simplest hamburger, which proved that everything was returning to normal. In giant three-dimensional letters, casting a long painted shadow, the following was drawn on the wall of the elevator:
dick
The slogan Jim Beam was repeated in small letters at the bottom: You always get back to the basics [We always return to the basis] The fact that the entire implied evolutionary series of inscriptions was simply omitted delighted Tatarsky - he felt the shadow of the master behind this conciseness.
Since I really like the theme of space, this series impressed me to the point of insanity that some robot drew inspiration for his work from outside SPACE as a source of inspiration! How I liked all this exquisite and amazing interpretation of Winter, thinking and creativity - as if it were not a robot or a human, but something from outside, even I do not know how to correctly describe his inner philosophy. I am still very impressed with the series - thanks to Netflix for such a beautiful and unique story!
deep.
В конце он говорит I’m going home.
«I’m going home»,
The correct approach would be if he was an electric shaver Kharkov, and not a robot for cleaning the basin))
Really art.

in fact, this series glorifies suicide in the name of nothing. because any living free being has the right to do so. something like "I can, I can, I practice"
