I tried very hard not to compare "9-1-1" and "Lone Star", but I admit honestly, when watching the second one, I have a strong association with the scene from "Black Sails" "fruit-fruit, flower-flower ..." They repeated the original in the scenes, repeated in the dialogues, but somehow crookedly. Instead of the declared variety, the audience was given a series about a middle-aged white man - the series is so focused on Owen (and, by the way, Judd) that the scenes of all other characters can be easily cut out during installation. And somehow they managed to make the work of the rescue service so secondary in the series, which has 9-1-1 in its title, that I just don't understand how they did it. I expected a better product from the same people who made a pretty high-quality "9-1-1".
@Autumny_handra: >>managed to make the work of the rescue service so secondary in the series
I have some ideas. It's just that in the series they overdo it with fiction and talk a lot. Very. They talk a lot. They talk about all sorts of stuff and it doesn't matter if it's appropriate at the nth moment in time. On the same trips, they don't even show who from the team is doing what. The camera immediately centers on the captain and stays on him.
One of the best episodes so far in the for me season. The moment with the astronauts is glass, and I really liked Iris. In general, the actress is gorgeous, she plays wonderfully, and I always want to call her Sad eyes
1) And for me, the story of the astronauts is just off the scale. I don't really understand all this (apparently, like the writers of this series), but I only found on the Internet for a couple of minutes that it is possible to determine in advance the future activity of the sun and when the crew will need evacuation. (There are two possible scenarios for solar activity. In a moderately disturbed heliogeophysical environment, astronauts are prohibited from going into outer space, and if necessary, they take refuge in the most protected place - the descent vehicle of the Soyuz manned spacecraft. This was the case with the X-class solar flares in October 2003 and September 2017, when crews at the command of the Moscow Mission Control Center were stationed in the descent vehicles of the Soyuz spacecraft. With high space weather activity, the MCC prepares the descent of astronauts to Earth with a 24-hour lead time.) Actually, there is a danger for astronauts, but there is also salvation from such situations.
2) Schizophrenia can actually be treated forcibly. If she had been given pills at the clinic for a while, then her mind would have become more adequate and she could have lived at home, just constantly taking medications that stop the symptoms. And leaving her in a tent, relying on the fact that she has not harmed herself in 3 years, is stupid - because she can kill someone under another attack. And then this whole mi-mi situation won't be so cute anymore.
3) And the return of the boy back to the part is very vanilla. They have not bad cases and stories, but they still do not reach the original with that drama and high-quality acting.
@Soon1304: It's very strange that you're comparing two series that only have a common idea. And of course, it is logical that the story of the astronaut was created for the drama of the atmosphere and is aimed at the fact that there is always a service that will help. The same technique is used with Michelle's sister, where she herself offered a picnic (without giving up her sister and her help).
But everyone decides for himself whether to stick to the plot or just enjoy the picture and the actors.
@id84183745: I'm comparing because this is a 911 branch, not a separate series about firefighters, and it's logical. I find fault with the plot, because it's important to me whether I'm watching fiction or a more or less truthful picture about firefighters. (I can't turn a blind eye to everything) There are a lot of pretentious and generally strange moments that can be played more interesting than the screenwriters do. Basic things can be learned (everything is publicly available) before writing a script.
@Soon1304: the coffee maker is working here without electricity, so it's a steep wave, ultra-fast and super-powerful, which could not be detected in any way. How can you doubt :D
@Soon1304: It is possible to predict solar activity, but it is not always accurate. For example, a few years ago the sun was in the "sleep" phase, but at the same time it made unexpected bursts of activity, as in its most active phase, while there were some of the strongest magnetic storms in a century. And such "antics" from the Sun are a regular thing, the stars are extremely unpredictable, since the course of the thermonuclear process is not calm
there is not enough plausibility to the cases, as for me (( although I regularly watch the series and every time I hope that just a little bit more and they will reach something worthwhile
It's good that we finished without cliffhanger, if the series is not renewed, there will be a completely adequate conclusion without uncertainties. But I really hope that they will still be extended, because I have already fallen in love with the characters, it will be very interesting to watch them in the future.
If after this series there are no superheroes in Texas, or a single Electro, then it is not clear why he invented this mess of electronics. I thought they were trying to shoot a serious series here, since even the color scheme is so gloomy from the start.
The captain's son did not leave the rescuers in vain. He's so big, but he didn't think of lifting his aunt above the water.
@Kyzyuavka: And he didn't even think to call people to help him, with a shot shoulder he tried to lift heavy pieces of iron "in one piece". EM flash fried the brains :)
In general, the series is quite good, however, for all the time I watched it, I could not get away from comparing it with "9-1-1", the first season of which also "came in" for me. I watched the second or third season in one gulp and changed my opinion about this series for the better. I really hope that in the second season "Lone Star" will swing, and, as already mentioned above, more attention will be paid not only to cap, but also to the rest of the team. It would be interesting to know their stories as well. In addition, I would like the creators to put more emphasis on the work of the team on challenges, and not just on the relationships of the characters.
I remembered! Athena caught him because of the color of his hair, but because of the earthquake, he helped another person with a concrete car (I'm not sure what it's called)
I like the characters, I like the colors, Buttercup is a handsome guy! I will continue, but I agree that there is not enough plausibility. It was possible not to put "911" in their name, roughly speaking.
The series came in, by the way, I don't compare it at all with the parent one. One thing pisses me off about him is the character tk, that's right arrr. And I liked the series, I haven't done it for a long time
I cried like never before , the moment with the astronaut broke my heart into such small pieces that I'm not sure it will come together again. I really liked the series , thanks my hero for the advice , I know you're reading this.
My state of mind during my daughter's farewell to her father was about the same.
As for the series, I read so many bad reviews that expectations were greatly underestimated. And it turned out very well, even though it is inferior to the original 911. We will wait for the sequel, I am sure season 2 will be at a higher level. :)
Most of all, it was disappointing that the rescue service had almost no ordinary calls - all of them were supernatural: people turn into zombies and kill themselves, then a man turned into a biological bomb, then metal objects fly around the city... I understand that it would be uninteresting to show the sheer routine of rescuers, but turning their work into daily exciting adventures leads to some distortion of the idea of it. They also introduced a bunch of characters, began to reveal them a little and safely abandoned this case. And the main more or less developed story arcs have gone to an incomprehensible steppe. TiKey didn't know what he wanted all season, then suddenly at the end of the series he was still illuminated and all the problems were solved. The arch of Liv Tyler's character... "well, let's leave the schizophrenic sister/daughter homeless and not send her for treatment, because we love her!" *facepalm*
You know, it's a good embroidery series, I watched the whole season in a day. Not a masterpiece (like the 911), to be sure. But there are worse TV shows. Good luck to everyone)
I'm not even particularly surprised that this series will get a second season. The trend in recent years is to continue everything that somehow has a rating. But if you think with your head, I don't know what to do here. The cast can be described as a "wagon of nounames and Liv Tyler", the game is mediocre for everyone, somewhere they are underplayed, somewhere they are very overplayed. There are a lot of questions about physics and plausibility, just a lot. That's the only way they can get in touch with the ISS, then the buses spring off during an accident, then they save everyone who got into a complete ass in five seconds and without consequences. There is not enough drama, there is not enough realism, although the creators are the same, which is amazing. The series was sculpted on the knee, apparently trying to leave at the expense of the original 9-1-1. Some commentators ask not to compare the spin-off with the original, but how is that possible? One name, one conditions, copies of the original Persians and the actions taking place. Parallels have already been drawn before me, I will not repeat myself. They explained about the cliché of the Persians already in the very first episode, they say, we need to slap here purely for tolerance and please everyone, here's a mannered gay man, here's a white guy with problems, a Muslim woman here just because she's a Muslim, not because she's a fucking lifeguard and will pull everyone out of the next world just like that. I'm not even talking about the fact that the series is slick and slick for the devil knows who - the picture is fast, problems are solved at once, the effects are done to fuck off, templates instead of phrases and no interaction. From the category of "we made everything that was and made it kind of perfect." In the original, the rescue was delayed for almost the entire series, there were lapping between the team, drive, support, adrenaline, and here - thirty minutes of chatter between the immediately friendly Persians, five minutes for the screensavers of the call center negotiations and five minutes of rescue. There was an interesting line with Iris, but that one was fucked up too. This "quality" does not suit me, thanks for your efforts and drop. Buttercup is the coolest of all.
Well, such a thing It's not bad and you can look at it once if you are busy with something else in parallel I personally watched it partially on rewind, it was kind of boring for me. 🤷♀️ I just expected a serious series like Chicago Firefighters or the same 911, but it turned out to be something like "scorpio" where everything is quick and easy and the situations are fantastical
The series manages to be both serious and light at the same time. Rescuers, 911, accidents, victims... But it goes very easily even with the presence of drama in the form of illnesses and lost relatives. Sometimes you need just such series to turn on the background and not really go into drama and problems. Everything is solved quickly, although at first glance situations can be on the verge. The characters are interesting in their own way, everyone is given time. Although I remember only Marjan and Mateo from the names. Let's see if season 2 will help you remember the rest.
I watched it to the end. And it just, uh, didn't go anywhere at all. Stupid conversations, the captain and his hair, everything was super fake, it didn't feel like anything in the original. Even the game of Athena and everyone else in lone star, Athena will tear everyone apart in terms of play and drama. I finished it because I had already started and wanted to finish it. It certainly wasn't worth it, just for the sake of interest
I hear the coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding travel amid a potential new wave of infections in the fall made continuing on the show a difficult proposition for Tyler. She lives in London with her partner and children, including a five-year-old and a four-year-old. The Lord of the Rings actress had been commuting between London and Los Angeles where 9-1-1: Lone Star films. I hear with some intricate scheduling and her kids joining her in Los Angeles for shoots during vacations, she successfully went back-and-forth last season without being away from her children for long. “We loved working with Liv and will be forever indebted to her for her haunting, powerful portrayal of Michelle Blake. While we were able to tell a complete chapter in Michelle’s story, as with Connie Britton on our mothership, we also feel like there are more stories to be told. The door here will always be open for a return
The whole series is in suspense.
I expected a better product from the same people who made a pretty high-quality "9-1-1".
