I looked at the scatter, and not as indicated here, it was quite interesting and never lost the thread of what was happening, as if you were conducting this case yourself and getting new clues or leads, you doubt somewhere, but you are already sure of something. I not only liked the series, but also the whole pitch.

It is better to look with reference to the year of development of events. It's clearer this way.
7 and 10 series are swapped.
In the end, everyone got what they deserved.

the filing of the case from different sides came out perfectly, all the episodes flew by in one gulp. of course, it would still be interesting to see how it really was, because the readings do not fight among themselves. but the series is good because it shows as much as possible how people perceive the same thing and how they can exaggerate or downplay facts, distort them or just lie.
it remains unclear to me why Eric was not checked again for a lie detector if he claimed that the detective had faked the results. why didn't the gang steal anything from the house in the end, if Trey claims that they planned to rob their parents. if there were so many people, then where are the traces of their presence...
because of all these snags, it was insanely interesting to get to the truth. but we didn't see the true truth, everyone has their own truth

@fb793291: the photo was of his father Russell, i.e. the grandfather of his daughter. The one who had dementia (? according to the signs, it looked like memory loss) and which, apparently, began to happen to the detective. At least that's what I understood.

@fb793291: why on obviously false? The fact that Russell tampered with several pieces of evidence does not negate the fact that Eric may still be the killer. And their short conversation in the toilet only confirms this, imho.
Why did you fake it? Well, obviously, he didn't have a personal dislike for Eric, he just didn't want to screw up in his first independent case and took the path of least resistance. Which again does not negate the fact that he was really sure of Eric's guilt. Of course, he is a moral freak and just a scoundrel after that, as he showed utter unprofessionalism and moral callousness.
But I will repeat once again: This does not mean that Eric is 100% innocent!

The reason is that in three months he came to him and cheated with Kim when his father bought him off. Then the day of the murder - for a policeman who believes that he should put criminals away (Eric was a criminal, obviously, and it would be very nice to finish), he was consistent

I liked the series, but I don't think Eric is innocent - the whole story (screwing with his parents, drugs, bandits, unbalance) performed by a 17-year-old son could not pass unnoticed by his parents (albeit foster ones).

A wonderful detective mini-series. I would compare it with Fincher's Zodiac. And just as there we will no longer find out the truth, there are also arguments in favor of several versions. What I really liked was the view from many sides, and everyone involved in this story then causes sympathy and makes you believe, then appears from the other side and looks completely different. But this is what the series is about - that the investigation and its outcome largely depends on the point of view of who conducts it and what kind of picture he paints for himself and then milking others. Detective Russell was called corrupt. But he did not deliberately distort the truth for a bribe. He sincerely believed that he was doing the right thing and helping justice to be done. Just because I was initially biased towards Eric. And can justice be unbiased at all, because it is administered by people?

@Antresolina: I agree, the detective is not corrupt, since he imprisoned Eric for a bribe. But the way he forged the proof of the kid's guilt - the forgery of the polygraph results, the letter about the $150 found is no longer a fig not justice.

One of the main conclusions from this series for me is that drugs are absolutely evil.
Even if everything was as Trey said, Eric had already served his sentence for, it turns out, complicity.
It's very interesting why Amy and Trey's testimony doesn't match so much, but we'll never know......

A good series with an interesting presentation. I looked not according to the established order, but by years, so it was easier to navigate events and faces. I'm sorry for Eric, life has treated him very unfairly. It's too cruel a reckoning for a violent narcotic youth. Yes, a drug addict, deprived of luck, but, importantly, Eric was and remained a kind person. Fits of rage in his youth, theft and so on... prison could make such an embittered scoundrel out of him that it's scary to imagine, but he still fought for himself not to become like that. The guy deserved a second chance. I am glad that we saw this in the series – the beginning of his new life. And I'm not even particularly interested in who exactly killed, because... does it really matter now? So much time has passed. Whoever is to blame, fate will punish him. Or already punished.

ps: I really liked this sad moment, a kind of "look into the past": you can't go back there to fix everything, you can only remember, knowing how everything will turn out. 😢

A strong, sad series at the end. So in fact it is not clear who killed his mother. Each of the versions has its own inconsistencies. Why, I didn't even understand if his mother loved him. According to some memories, especially early ones, she simply did not need him, and according to others she fought for him: she bought food, tried to arrange a clinic... I'm not even surprised that the series is about the real thing, because in general, real life is shown

Quite an interesting presentation of the material, when it is impossible to say unequivocally that someone was right or completely honest at all.
Just as Russell forged evidence, Lynch could have done it (a damaged recording of a conversation with Corano and a promotion due to this) or a private detective who probably earned a lot of money and wide fame in his industry on this case

Great series 👏🏻 Watched in sequence as recommended in the comments to the first series, and did not regret it, everything logically lined up by the years! Movies /series based on real events are always hard to come by... and unfortunately, there are a lot of such stories ... and not every one of them ends with a happy ending. This damn "system" rarely lets you expose yourself to blame, they defend themselves to the last, continuing to substitute and falsify the facts. To fight, in addition to fortitude, you also need some kind of wallet. Private detectives...., the best lawyers .... only for the sake of justice, no one will work. If Eric didn't have his father's inheritance, he would have been sitting there …

An ambiguous series. Where drugs are involved, you can't believe everything 100%. Yes, there are inconsistencies in the case, but seeing how Eric is, the detective decided not to bother. 26 years is a lot, but honestly, there's no guarantee that it wasn't right. Eric had a lot of chances to change, he had a father who tried to help him, but Eric decided differently. It's a pity that we got an open ending, I would like to know the whole truth.
