what nonsense +disappointment ....... scenes where Sutekh is dragged through a vortex on a collar and the death of death is life. It's a complete shame. the snow that appears was not really explained, but in Ruby's mother, the frightening sutekh, because she has a difficult life, I do not believe sorry (((( all hope for Mrs. Flood next season
@annolik: xs, the scene where a powerful and ancient god was put on a collar and carried for a walk through the funnel of time is a classic Doctor Who. Dear Doctor Who.
As for music and snow and Ruby's other abilities, in the end they made it clear. Strength from the fact that Sutekh has self-imposed the mega-importance of Ruby's origin. Ruby was quite ordinary until the Doctor, along with Sutekh on board, arrived on her birthday. Because of all this mystery and the importance of who Ruby's mom was, which was asked even before arriving on her birthday (and Sutekh saw it all), and the fact that Sutekh did not understand who it was and as a result could not influence her, but believed that it was someone important and powerful - it gave This is Ruby's unusual abilities...from the influence of God. And the music and the snow because he started this autosuggestion on December 24, 2004, at the moment when he saw that woman in black through the TARDIS, and what happened then? That's right, Shchedryk was playing and it was snowing heavily. Literally, the way Ruby's power manifested itself.
@Takumikun: maybe in the classics I would like that, but here it seems ridiculous... well, in general, there was a feeling that Sutekh was defeated too easily (but this is a taste)
Thanks for the explanation, it still seems like a big stretch to me, but okay. Why couldn't anyone see Ruby's mom's face? And why was she acting so strangely on the record? (of course, it still seems strange to me that she pointed so expressively at the lantern, plus it's unclear why the doctor's memory has changed) and couldn't Sutekh somehow find out who her mother is, since he has such strong divine abilities.....
@annolik: of course I liked the release, but I also expected a little bit of a Moffat-style wow effect from the personality of Ruby's mother, he likes that. Powerful badabums, when you sit with your jaw on the floor and stick it in as famously twisted, I'm already used to such turns and for me, IMHO, this is the best showrunner of Dr. ever). But in principle, this scenario is really classic, I just famously rejoice in the atmosphere of the good old Doctor Who. Russell T can make catchy arches like coming home.
It was epic, creepy, beautiful and emotional. I liked. It's simple in some ways, but just in classic doctoral simplicity. And the remaining questions, I think, will come out later, because we know that Ruby will still appear. Mrs. Flood, that's for sure, with such a Christmas supply. By the way, the most impressive thing was the fitting of memories into the plot of the Tardis - the spin-off of the series was explained in a great way. Well, Mel, it turns out she was a companion on the 15th).
@NaruHinka: "Mrs. Flood, that's for sure, with such an approach to Christmas.
Yes, it would be better not even, I'm already tired of this krynzhovnik with monologues of the children's theater in the camera. I'm not even interested in who it is or what it is, as long as it stops.
@NaruHinka: as far as I read in the news in the wake. The doctor's season will already have a new companion (actress Varada Setu). So maybe we won't see Ruby anymore.
@kalamburja: They didn't read it correctly. There will be 2 companions in the new season. Varada will come to the cast, but Millie (Ruby) is also staying.
@id264460076: Ruby will stay only after the outrage of the fans... that's how they wanted to kick her out, as the finale of the episode just says, they say goodbye and said goodbye, but then the showrunners backed off and said that no, no, no, you misunderstood us and Ruby will be involved in some episodes of the next season as a companion. In other words, under the pressure of the public, they will still have to rewrite the scripts and introduce a character there.
@MarkRaffer: In other words, under the pressure of the public, they will still have to rewrite the scripts and introduce a character there.
Well, what an idiot you are after all. First of all, the second season has been filmed for a long time. Secondly, the news about the alleged dismissal of the actress was in the middle of filming the second season, at the end of January. And Millie has been on the set of the second season since October last year, long before the news that she was allegedly fired, just filming for the second season began with episode 4, which will be dedicated to Ruby and her family. And spoiler alert, in the season finale she will be wearing exactly the same clothes as in episode 4, which means her arch was planned literally from the very beginning, because RTD has repeatedly said that both seasons were in development at the same time and the story arc will be the same.
@kalamburja: we will not see so much that the actress has already managed to shoot in the second season, and we managed to show a whole excerpt with her from the second season :D
I wish they hadn't seen it! Ruby is tired. A completely dumb character who asks every 5 minutes: "Doctor, what is this?" During the whole season, she showed flashes of intelligence once - in the series about the Boijertons, when she used earrings. Otherwise, she's dumb as a cork.🤦🏻♀️
The series has done absolutely everything on an emotional level. right here is the good old RTD at its best. Wonderful Mel, charming Ruby, special attention to the planet Ud, this Tardis from memories with ropes, scarf and trinkets. how Mel found her Doctor's clothes. and the Doctor, who resolutely knows what to do, and kisses the Tardis on the door. and other similar small details that are just painfully emotional. I was also pleased with the reference to 73 yards.
It is difficult to judge about Sutekh as an enemy and how much the plot was deployed in this regard relative to the classics, but at least it was interesting to watch. It turns out that this is the first time the Doctor has killed someone, and ironically, is this the god of death? at the same time, the Doctor is still being driven about this... I don't know, to be honest, how much better his decisions were before, when he could frankly send him to a fate worse than death... but if this topic has already been raised here, then I think it will be further developed. and Susan - with such a background, I'd be very surprised if she doesn't become a key plot in the next season.
Is Mrs. Flood a Master? There were so many plans, there were so many plans... and such ominous hints about the Doctor)
it is a pity that we are parting with Ruby so early, I really liked her as a companion, but at least this parting is not on a sad note, and she did find out the truth about her parents. it was even unexpected, it seemed that the topic would be hushed up like it doesn't matter, ololo. but they did, and even in such detail. the moment about the fact that her mother is the most ordinary woman, to whom they themselves attached importance, is very good. here you can feel the sharp difference between RTD and Moffat, who just let loose and everyone you meet will be the most important-special-wonderful.
overall, there were quite mixed impressions from the season, but I was pleased with the finale, and now I will look forward to the continuation)
@Darkes: " that this is the first time the Doctor has killed someone" - literally in his first episode as the main Doctor, Jokey brutally pulled the goblin king on the spire. And I'm only talking about the 15th. And you also remember the Military Doctor who naturally fought = 3
@Hierarch: Yes, if you remember it like that, there really are a lot of similar cases. Nevertheless, the principle of "not killing" is very often heard from the Doctor, sometimes reaching the point that he can send someone to a fate worse than death. and yet, in this series, some kind of explicit emphasis was placed on this, especially in contrast to the first series, where he was eager even to save the booger monster. and the goblin, perhaps, does not quite count, because the creature is generally an alternative fairy tale.
And I liked this part of the two-part series much more. They should have inserted the part where a huge cloud of sand comes at people and kills massively in the previous part, so that it was clear what to be afraid of. I wrote about this before, in the last episode it seemed that this god is not so terrible. The Doctor finally got ready and returned to do and say smart things, know the traps in advance, love the TARDIS and the companion, and, of course, defeat the villains with a spoon! When Ruby said "I don't understand", I finally believed that she was her own mom, especially with this million 73-yard references. But it turned out like this. In general, the message is cool, in the style of RTD and the Doctor in general. Live, love, give things meaning. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I would really like it to be the daughter of River and the Doctor (but what). If I hadn't seen Ruby coming next season, I would have cried a lot more at the finale. Because Ruby is beautiful, I really like her as a companion, she is kind, determined, grasps everything on the go, they do not have a romantic line and she does not try, but she is not looking for Rory. In general, a wonderful companion, I'm not ready to say goodbye to her yet. As I expected, this episode has put an end to the season, after which I will still recommend my friends to watch the new, new Doctor
@Amyinthetardis: So far, Ruby is the best companion in my memory. Ruby seems to have saved the world more times this season than the Doctor himself. Except for the episode where she passed out for 10 minutes of the finale. Millie is very good and I really hope that there will be more of her next season than for a couple of episodes. Such companions have not been written to the Doctor for a long time.
I saw a lot of negative comments on VK and TVI and expected myself to be disappointed, but it wasn't! Not much on the plot, but on the emotional plane, she hooked me :) From Sutekh I laughed the whole episode😂 But I can't deny that as a finalist, of course, she loses to many.
@Gloomy_Rave: even as a fan of the Chibnell era, I have no special words and desire to somehow defend the "Battle of Ranscore Av Kolos", but I have to note that this is still not the weakest ending of the series. Depending on how people feel about "rewriting the canon," many people would rather call the weakest ending "Timeless Children" (which I like). I would say that the weakest finale of the season is the sixth part of "Flax", but only because the whole Flax is closely connected into one story that I didn't really like. Although "Dark Waters / Death in Heaven" also frankly sucked his ass - turning the corpse of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart into a Cyberman and putting the most boring character of all time Danny Pink in the center of the plot so that he even threw away his skates and continued to blunt and brought back from the dead some left-wing kid who most likely no one expects back in life unlike Clara who for some reason is in love with Danny-it was the real worst Moffat disgrace. And if we consider "With diabolical tenacity" to be a separate finale and not the third part of the three-part series "Behold the Raven / Sent Down from heaven / With diabolical tenacity", then there the finale was also a passing one, although not frankly a double one (although after the second best episode in the history of the series, Heaven Sent, the finale of Hell Bent is obliged should have been better)
Immediately, the advantage is that it is still a two-part series, and it works like a two-part series. I was fooled in the first part, strained during the second part and silenced in the finale. This was not the case, for example, with "The Wedding of River Song", because there was no two-part finale.
In short, there is something to compare, and I would not put either "The Legend of Ruby Sunday / Empire of Death" or "The Battle for Ranscore Av Kolos" in the last place in the TOP 14 finals of Doctor Who
@Gloomy_Rave: people really messed up your comment, what's going on?) If at least someone who put a minus sign asked what the series was all about and how good it was, would there be an answer?) But if someone likes the season 11 finale more than this finale, then I'm ready to shake hands, because it's respected)
@KonstantinRomeow: I disagree about some episodes, but I liked this finale more than the finales of all three seasons of Jody and more than the finale of season 10, but the first part was brilliant, and the second, well, okay, although even Moffat's bad episodes have a lot of good things.
But my favorite finales are HellBent and the season 8 finale. But if you read the comments on "Death in Heaven", you can catch deja vu. I remember perfectly well how the series was halted at that time.
WHO IS THIS MRS. FLOOD OF YOURS? really Missy 2.0 after all.....
the special effects are on the level, but the ending is frankly weak. There were so many interesting theories about who Ruby's mother might be, for a second I even thought it might be Mel (timey-vimey, that's it)... and in the end, we got what we got. In "The Lie Of The Land" by the way, when the memories of Bill's mother (also a very unremarkable girl) saved the world from the Monks, I liked the concept itself - but somehow it didn't go as far as possible. But I'm glad Ruby found a family and completed her personal arc.
I can say thank you to this season for the development of the plot of the UNIT - we hardly saw them in action so many and so close in new school. Now I want to watch the spin-off even more. And for the series "Boom" and "73 yards" - I especially liked them. And Ruby, as a companion, also entered my personal top three, along with Clara and Donna
But Dr. Jokey on Vibe turned out to be not my Doctor at all, for some reason you don't believe that he can be dangerous and cruel, like moments 10, 11 and 12, of course. But let's see how his character develops in the future.
Romanadvoratrelundar (Romana, for short) is a Time Lady sent to help the Fourth Doctor in his search for the Key of Time. (TV: Ribos Operation) She stayed with him for a long time after the task was completed (TV: The Armageddon Factor, The Fate of the Daleks), and parted with him in E-space. (TV: Gate of Warriors) She later became Lady President of Gallifrey. (AUDIO: Gallifrey)
Well, it was strong and sweet. The arch with the Sutek was of average badness. It seems to be banal and stupid, but it seems like a doctor's way. But Ruby's line touched me.Such a beautiful ending - it was cool, I like it. The fifteenth is so empathic and sentimental, many people call him a crybaby, but I'll call him an alien with a subtle mental organization. Just kidding cutie
After the end of the season, I understand that I forgive Chibnell, what I do not forgive RTD: there is an understatement somewhere, an excessive prolongation of some moments, I'm cringing with creep cosmo = kids, but I love Pting and I want him back. Chibnell has a lot of joints, even too many, but I still love him, his idea with Timeless Child is explosive, but the execution is terrible, but RTD tries and takes out moments that Chibnell does not take out, but I still, so to speak, soberly look at his series, but I tend to idealize the series from the Thirteenth. I don't think I've come to terms with Jody's departure yet. I love jokes too, it's as attractive as a chocolate muffin. I basically love this series for its variability. He does not stand still and expands the ent of his own world. And most importantly, it pushes concepts popular for one time or another to the masses: the 60s are the horror of atomic war, and that war is the worst thing people can do, in the 70s there were many episodes in the direction of environmental protection (Green Death, Invasion of dinosaurs and a couple more can be attracted), and the 80se is a time of change and experimentation, that's why there are so many ambiguous and sometimes excesses, and now the series is pushing the concepts of kindness again (although the Doctor carried these ideas before), awareness of our problems, their study, and most importantly, acceptance of the fact that we are all different in various ways, but still deserve love
@Sprat: >popular concepts for one time or another are pushing to the masses: the 60s are the horror of atomic war, and that war is the worst thing people can do, in the 70s there were many episodes in the direction of environmental protection (Green Death, Invasion of dinosaurs and a couple more can be attracted) and the 80s are a time of change and experimentation, that's why there are so many ambiguous and sometimes excesses, and now the series is pushing the concepts of kindness again (although the Doctor carried these ideas before), awareness of his problems
I really liked the way everything was explained to us. Such goodness! It seemed that the Doctor would finally look out and also tell Ruby that he loved her. They didn't have a romantic line (thanks!!), but they are a cool team and the relationship is full of tenderness and care. Well, really, I could have answered. It seems that the Fifteenth has come to the point that he now confesses his love to dear people. Was Sutek still able to get into his head and trust in his feelings was undermined again?.. I like Dr. Jokey. For some reason, most people are terrified of emotional scenes, but for me, it's a great victory to live for thousands of years and allow yourself to feel EVERYTHING again.
The whole confrontation with Sutekh was like this...IN A DOCTOR'S WAY! THAT'S THE CLASSIC WAY. I just can't. I really like it. RTD in its previous seasons sometimes tried to make some episodes like in the classics, but always did not fall under the same spirit and vibe...Man, you finally did it. And while the finale is good both as an independent series and as a sequel to the Pyramids of Mars, I just yesterday reviewed the Tales of the TARDIS versions and how tightly the revision of this series lay down to watch the final episode...
As for the mysteries of the season, okay, one of my main options about Susan Triad was that she was an ordinary random woman, but whose image the villain uses, so here one of the main options was justified. About Ruby's mom, yes, of course I was thinking about other characters because all this mystique and so on, but to be honest, I even like what RTD came up with more, a good message and not banal "Her mom Susan Foreman/Triad/River/Mrs. Flood/TARDIS/or whatever else the theorists came up with. Well, yes...RTD, WHO THE FUCK IS MRS. FLOOD?!?!
Well, I also want to note all kinds of references. Yes, it's a banal fanservice, but in some moments, such an easy fanservice brought tears to my eyes...Chalk bow, jacket of the Sixth, Ud-sphere, a series of Pyramids on the screen, etc. Rush.
In short, I am happy with both the season and the final two-part series. But the best streaks of the season are the Devil's Chord and 73 yards.
The first part of the finale was so interesting, and the second was so boring. Sutekh killed everyone instantly and... that's it. Nothing happens because it doesn't make sense.
When the planets began to revive, I kept waiting for the Doctor to name Gallifrey, but no. And it is unclear whether only those who suffered from Sutekh were reborn, or from the Flood too?
Ruby was so messed up that she is super important, and in the end her mother explains how to meme bro. But then why did the snow follow her everywhere, or why was she able to become a spirit 73 yards away? Either they planned a bigger arch for her, or they forgot about it. Who did she point out the sign to? Until 2024, no one saw anything there except snow. She didn't come back to put a note. If there is no mystery, then the Doctor could safely return there at any moment, landing a little further away, and photograph her face. Some kind of overly Moffat scenario.
I was especially amused by the phrase that it was Ruby who taught the Doctor what a family is. And not the pham of some doctor there. Take a bite, Chibnell.
Hopefully, the arch with the Pantheon of Chaos will continue. And they'll give some kind of explanation to this granny neighbor. Night-night.
@driveshaft: they did not revive anyone, they only canceled Sutekh's intervention. the doctor said that minus by minus gave a plus - sutekh simply continued to dispel his power on the destroyed, which eventually had the opposite effect - death for death. No one who died from other actions could be returned, nor could the Gallifreyans.
It doesn't bother me at all that Sutekh was neutralized so quickly. you know how it happens, you take on something and the first pancake is a lump, and the second one is also a lump, and then you look and somehow it began to turn out better. Maybe it 's the same with villains 😂
I also agree with the comment somewhere above that the relationship between the Doctor and Ruby turned out to be so kind and warm. I came to watch a couple of episodes with 12m to refresh something in my memory, and such an awesome contrast between 12 with Clara and 15 with Ruby. just file an article in the encyclopedia about relationships with the signature "toxic" and "wholesome" respectively.
I don't know what it's called, but I got carried away with this thing in a screwdriver for blood analysis, but otherwise why not)))) I didn't like the Unit this season. it left the impression of some kind of useless fuss, and armed to the teeth. in general, the season imho came out on a four with a minus, but probably still just the first lump. it could have been better if the season had been longer, but it seems to me that a more twisted plot would have turned out to be simply not suitable for 8 episodes, so it's probably not a bad thing that with a small number of them, such a not very sophisticated denouement was made for Ruby. but it still feels like I wanted something more.
Oh, they handled it elegantly, of course. There were so many theories about Ruby's parents, but in fact they turned out to be ordinary people and maybe it's for the best☺️ By the way, isn't Ruby's mom playing Millie's mom by the hour? They're just very similar.😉
I can't say that I was very impressed with Sutekh's line. But, in principle, it was normal. Plus, it was nice to see footage from the classics.
Only it remains unclear who the neighbor is and why the ending of the Dock is tragic👀
And, about Ruby, if I hadn't known that she would be in the new season, I would have thought that this was the character's finale.
The finale trapped itself, something like Infinity War. I twisted everything so much, created such a cool thief and solved everything too easily. As it happens - some fan theories sounded more interesting than what happened. The best of the season were, it would seem, filler series: & # 34; boom", "73 yards& # 34;," Dot & bubble & # 34; - thanks to them, and the intrigue from the finale, the season feels like the best of ERA 12.
@SentinelTheGrey: for the first time in many years, I am almost totally and completely agreed with the comment written in ukrainian. Yes, it is just like a "Infinity War / Endgame" situation! And yes - the best episodes of the season are "Boom", "73 Yards" and "Dot and Bubble".
The first part of the two-part series was encouraging, the second looked like a Latin American series with tantrums and tears. DC had tears of rage or grief, but the Doctor crying the whole series is too ... I thought that the main villain would be from the pantheon of Toys and Music, but an ancient Egyptian vile creature got out, which the Doctor destroyed, almost flooding the Tardis with tears. The Doctor, although he always gave villains a chance, behaved sensibly and destroyed someone if necessary. Millie began to play better and more accurately towards the end of the season, but Jokey can't convey the huge layer of the character's life experience in any way. Doctors experienced teenage tantrums thousands of years ago.
It turned out to be a good, kind ending. Yes, this is not Hell bent, and not a Pandorica, but the impressions are really very warm. The finale with Ruby and her mom moved me to tears 🥹
I really liked the references to the classics (although I hardly watched it) and the previous seasons, and in general, the fact that this season they actively recalled the past, or sometimes it feels like with each new director the Doctor's memory is reset.
I like the emotional Dr. Jokey. I would like to be able to cry just as beautifully, and not as usual. 😂
When they defeated Sutekh, it was as if there was a slight disappointment, but the finale gave out emotions - Ruby's meeting with her mother, saying goodbye to the Doctor, his facial expressions when he turned away - this eternal sadness of loneliness... Everything is very heartfelt. Again, the full feeling of the same Doctor as the beloved Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh. How can we now wait for what horrors await the Doctor! What a blessing that the good old Doctor has returned in all his glory, with emotional swings in the series, with tension and anxiety, with riddles and the expectation of new adventures! I love you ❤
I felt such a strong difference between the recent series with Tennant and the 14th season. It became so sad, it is clear that they can do it as before. This season was not bad, but it cannot be compared with previous seasons, it is very naive. Unfortunately, the new directors did not come to me. After the 12th doctor, they took a wrong turn.
Dr. Tennant has retired and is having fun with his family. But about the theory with 2 sutehs is very interesting, I think they left it as a seed for the series in the future. They often do this, but most often they successfully forget about this clue …
«...But you, Ruby Sunday, I will see again because you changed me. You have made my life bigger and better. And now, Ruby Sunday... Goodbye. I love you.» 🥹🥹🥹
@Enchantresss: I think you need to stop guessing by your clothes. They threw it even higher that she had a white fur coat at the end like Romana...Well, all these jokes that her name is Flood (flood, which echoes the River river and Pond pond. People have also speculated on this topic that we are allegedly not told her first name in a special way because it may be related to music and then it is a strong hint of River because she is both Song and Melody)...And in general, she behaves very strangely and hints at different things. We are waiting for explanations in future episodes.
@Enchantresss: if Ruby's mom is an ordinary woman, then where does snow come from, why did the computer hang in the third series when looking for Ruby's relatives and how, damn, in the second series, a song was literally hidden in Ruby's soul?
I don't deny that I might not have looked very closely, but somehow too many questions arise if Ruby is really an ordinary child of ordinary parents.
@Enchantresss: As for music and snow and Ruby's other abilities, they finally made it clear.
@Enchantresss: I like to think that even if Ruby's mother is really an ordinary woman, then Ruby's father is a Trickster from the Pantheon, who previously appeared in "The Adventures of Sarah Jane" and just masquerades as an ordinary guy
@Enchantresss: the computer is vis, because Ruby is out of her time, it is not a fact that it is possible to trace her direct relative to the distant future (if there is one at all)
This season turned out to be very warm and kind. After watching, I went and hugged everyone😅 Who got caught at home. The Doctor said a rather important thing, why is it so important?- we made it so ourselves. In life, we also idealize many things ourselves, just as there are always a hundred thousand reasons why we run away from home or avoid communicating with loved ones. Quite a morally strong series)
@Takumikun: no offense to you or William Hartnell (peace and quiet to his ashes), but here you are somehow trolling too thickly. David Tennant and Tom Baker are two objectively the best and popularly beloved Doctors, "Bring back Petrvi" is a meme, but it is Hartnell who hardly anyone sincerely considers the best. At least because few people watched all his black-and-white cuts of frames for audio tracks, but mainly because the series obviously did not slide further, but acquired cult status and international recognition.
Of course, who is higher and to whom you answer is wrong - and Jokey Gatva, and David Tennant, and Jodie Whittaker are great Doctors in their own way (Doctors?), so Capaldi certainly cannot be the "last Doctor". But for more subtle trolling, I would choose not the First Doctor, but someone more iconic and memetic walking in front of Capaldi, fortunately there is someone to choose from.
First you're like, at the beginning of the episode, "Oh, Sutekh can turn bullets into dust on the fly, not bad!" And then you're like, "Um, why didn't he turn the leash into dust?"
Otherwise, the series is good, beautifully filled with references to past episodes and it's nice that the companion (temporarily) left not through drama and suffering /worries about danger and death, but happily. It seems that this was even a little lacking.
All season long, there was a feeling that the restart was just a lick of the idea from the old restart. I remember Rose (Doctor's previous restart). There she was chased everywhere by the evil wolf all the time, wherever she and the doctor were. And here is the same blonde Ruby with snow. In the finale of the Rose story, the doctor (David Tennant (by the way, the best, in my opinion) also cried and there was also a declaration of love. But there the story was brilliant. Here...I'm sorry, it's some kind of nonsense. But LGBT people were stuffed. At least they would have added a logical plot. The main plot without logic with a final thought "we ourselves make the special special"....well kamon. It's a pity to quit the series, but the restart is just sad
The main problem of the series, as well as the season as a whole, is timing, hence the stakes are not felt at all. Here is the strongest villain, and after 30 minutes he was already defeated, but at the same time it is shown beautifully and he was defeated in a rather funny way. But it feels like there is not enough extra series, which is why everything is rushing at full speed. For those who say that they won easily and another happy ending, remember the finale of season 5, the destruction of the universe, all the stars died, in the next episode what? That's right, a big bang and everything went back to normal. Everyone is alive and well.
What would I change in the final if I had the opportunity. I would make the finale three-part, like in season 3. In the first part, I would show how Sutekh destroys the universe, in the second I would show how the Doctor, Ruby and Mel survive in hellish conditions, and in the third part I would bring everyone back and show the destruction of Sutekh. But this is essentially some kind of repeat of season 3.
In the first era of RTD, the endings were always tragic, but Moffat, on the contrary, had a happy ending. Under Capaldi, on the contrary, the finals were tragic and now it's the turn of RTD and happy endings. It will be interesting to analyze this after all the new seasons.
But overall I'm happy with the finale. Emotionally by five, plot-wise by three. But I have long taught myself to keep my expectations as low as possible. Thanks to Chibnell for that. Thanks to this, the series almost doesn't disappoint me. Yes, of course, many moments could have been much better, like the whole story, but there are so many small pleasant moments in the series that just warm the soul. Here is the TARDIS of memory, where the details of the previous TARDIS are collected, here is the screwdriver of the Thirteenth, here is Mel stumbled upon the vest of the Seventh (how cute it was), here is the Doctor whistling for the TARDIS, here is the Doctor rushing through the time funnel and mocking Sutekh, I even felt a little sorry for him, here is the Doctor mentions the planet Ud-sphere and The doctor's "I have to become a monster myself."
I liked how the Doctor decided to take such a serious step and personally get rid of the villain, usually someone does it for him. The Rose will absorb the funnel and destroy the Daleks, then Doctor Donna and Metacrisis will do the same, so in the finale of the Tenth era, the Master decides to save the Doctor from the Timelords. In general, you can continue for a long time.
I really liked the moment when Ruby's mom was revealed, namely that "she became special because we considered her important and special" and how good it was that she was not some kind of goddess, but Ruby turned out to be a simple person. But there is one thing. Mention of Ruby's father. Maybe he's not that simple? The appearance of snow was also not explained. And since RTD gave answers to many questions, including why Susan Triad appeared in all times, it means snow is important, and the fact that Ruby's story will continue in the second season hints that this arc will continue.
Well, the most pleasant thing after the series is the number of memes. I don't remember such a parade of memes and they're all really funny.
As for the season itself. This is definitely not the best season of Doctor Who, but the main thing for me is that it evoked emotions, especially after three seasons of Chibnell, where I had to be frankly bored. And it's probably the first time I've enjoyed the season finale since season 9. Although I love the Capaldi era, the series "The Fall of the Doctor" and "Twice in Time" caused only bewilderment, although they had quite a lot of pleasant moments. And this season, all the episodes were pretty much in different genres, which is very cool. It's a pity that there were only eight of them.
Well, now we turn on standby mode again until Christmas, but Moffat wrote the next episode!
a mega epic dramatic plot is about like Fluh's, but as if it's about nothing else, well, or it's the same level, but due to the fact that twice in a row it seems worse, in general, the Chibnell era has gone even more with all its shoals than this rtd season, some disappointment, although expectations there were none, just somehow so-so everything. It seems like the Persians are all good, but something is missing + besides the fact that the timing is small, we have crammed a series of streaky and passing and Persians into the unit that are not needed
@id264460076: maybe, of course, but it always looks very bad when this happens to some kind of nouname out of the blue and just so that it was for the sake of a dramatic moment
It's a pity that the "deaths" of Kate Stewart, Ruby's family and other important characters were shown so early. It is obvious that Russell T. Davis will not kill so many important characters at once, which means from the very beginning it is clear that Su-Tech's actions are reversible, there is no danger from the very beginning. Hurtful.
But the rest of the episode is cool.
A typical season finale from Russell T. Davis is a complete n$#@ first!ec is like an indestructible fleet of Daleks that captured the Earth and the TARDIS of the Master or 27 planets stolen to destroy reality, then magic like the absorption of the TARDIS heart by the Rose or the restoration of the Doctor by the power of the word with a rewind of time or the appearance of the second Doctor from the severed hand and the third Doctor from Donna, and then everything is fine again.
@KonstantinRomeow: Well, I believed that they were all dead and I was upset when they were returned. Well, kamon, either kill or don't kill, what kind of games are these....
@Sprat: Well, they killed EVERYONE. It was obvious that everyone would be returned, leaving the UNIT overboard would be strange and groundless I understand that you may not like the move "kill everyone and then resurrect" in principle, but should you be upset that someone in particular has been returned?
The feeling of the series is "no, okay, what now." When the whole universe turned to dust, it was clear that everything would be put back in place. It was just unclear how. They returned it, and thank God. "No, well, what now?" The fact that Ruby's mom is an ordinary mortal... well, that kind of thing. When they started showing her pictures and telling me about her life, I hoped that there would be some "but". At least the screens all went off suddenly, or the doctor was like, "oh, I know her." But the feeling is a bit bummer. Again, "no, okay, what now."
In general, it's fine. The season is good. Hachiko mode is on.
I read above that Ruby will still be there next season. Maybe there will be some kind of joke with Dad. They say that everything was decided with my mother, but my father is some kind of unusual
it was very cool that there was one line through all the episodes of the season, and it felt like it wasn't just an anthology (although you can bet if there were fillers). but it's sad that Ruby's secret was solved in one episode without hints of that in previous episodes; the god of death appeared unexpectedly, even though he was in the chain of other gods. it would be cooler if there were some hints throughout the episodes of the season that the answer is the god of death. I don't know, it's like the god of death has become a god out of a car. this is the god of DEATH, how did he let himself be tied to some kind of intellectual rope (btf by the way??)?? and I didn't understand how everyone came back to life (death + death? what?.. how did they spread this effect to the entire extinct universe? was "cutting" clouds this effect or is it just for beauty?). Probably, the doctor's fanbase just can't be satisfied anymore. all the great plot moves have already been done in previous seasons, and the rest seems weak... much is unclear, but overall the feeling is pleasant. Ruby is cool, the new doctor is cool! I want to reconsider after a while, I think it will be less nagging and more tenderness)
Was Ruby only there for one season? How cruel. I didn't even have time to get attached to her, and she's already done. And so there are few episodes, only 8, so they also introduce characters for one season. I like the new Doctor. He's a bit of a crybaby, but he's got a new personality. He's still the same Doctor, he just cries a little more often than the others. I'm waiting for the nightmarish end of the Doctor.
Has she shown anyone else that Mrs. Flood might be Clara? It seems that before the Doctor, only Clara called "Clever boy" (Run, clever boy, and remember/ and be a Doctor) - her last words to the Doctor. And then Mrs. Flood also called him "Clever boy" when they recovered from the ashes with Grandma Ruby, and the clothes are often similar!
@rhjdfnrb: There are theories on reddit: both Clara, and the companion from the classics (because of the fur coat), and the Master (Missy), and the god-narrator, as in Marvel. But purely for me, it feels like they're throwing it back on for the fans to talk about, and then they'll break it off. They came up with the significance themselves, made it special themselves, but in fact, a brick fell on my head in childhood/the TARDIS somehow touched its field, so the woman went cuckoo and staoa is immune to the TARDIS perception filter
Well, RTD has had finales more dramatic... In general, I liked the middle of the season more than the beginning and the end. in the Doctor's farewell to Ruby, in his words about monsters-legends-planets, there was a feeling that this was just not enough for us during the season. I liked the visual (and the sound) associated with Sutekh and his messengers on the whole. I also really liked the scene where the Doctor talks to an unknown woman, from whom he then takes a spoon. and due to this scene, when Mel does not remember something and complains of fatigue, you already suspect something is wrong. Oh, and we've been scheming with this Mrs. Flood...
The feeling that it was made quickly and on my knees does not leave me. The whole season seemed to be made and written with a burning deadline. All the intrigues, the most childish zilch, all the villains are purely extras. The relationship between the Doctor and Ruby, to be honest, is not fully disclosed, namely, it did not cause me an emotional response. And in the end, when Ruby "left" the Doctor, she didn't cause me anything. I didn't have time to get into it, there are very few jokes in the series. The showdown with Sutekh, but it feels like a child wrote 🫨 if it's to please Disney and stuff references to the Avengers (Thanos hello) then I'm disappointed, after all I've seen, I want to wrap myself in classics and new school. It seems to me that it was possible to shift the deadlines again and think about the plots and wait for the Joke a little more. I have no complaints about the acting, except for the Maestro. Jokey understands the character, as for me, Millie is also a great fellow. But there's a problem with scripts.
I used to stamp my foot in the direction of Moffat and the 12th doctor, I want to apologize, I was wrong. And when I review it, I feel emotions of joy, sadness and anger. Here, I feel a cruel deception after watching the finale.
@JaneWatson: >> I used to stamp my foot in the direction of Moffat and the 12th doctor, I want to apologize, I was wrong. Justice has finally been served! Soon people will start loving the Chibnell and Jody era in this way. And apparently in 10 years this season will be remembered with love :D
I can't agree with you, unfortunately, I didn't like the script work, and the acting work in the seasons wasn't great. But in order not to offend anyone, this is my subjective perception
Here the actors understand the characters, but most of the scripts are like that; (there are good ties, and then somehow the script rolls down like a stone.
Come on, come on) Doctor who is not about justify at all) the most sensitive invincible monster in the universe that cannot be defeated? Pfft! One-two, time-time, the monster does not understand human nature, the power of memory, so we will defeat him! That's what Doctor Who is all about! After the dreadfully merged 13th Doctor (except for a couple of Moffat episodes), I already wanted to bury the series. But RTD brought back to the series what attracts people over 50 years old: emotions, kindness, fabulousness and impossibility. No one will do better than the final than the lost land/the paths diverge. I got what I wanted from the new doctor with the good old RTD: I want to continue watching the series.
@OrangeElephant: he did not write according to the credits, but the series with the matrix, which told the doctor about his past, Chibnell hardly wrote himself (considering how weak all the other series from 13 were)
A strange series. The questions aren't even for Ruby's mother. And this can happen. The questions are not about Ruby's strength. Anything can happen to the gods. And not even to victory on it. Habits (and the reflection of the Tardis) from the same plane as Ruby's power (although the sources are different) The question is about the very fact of the presence of Sutekh. How could he end up on this particular tardis? Season three, ending, hammer blow, new tardis with jukebox. And so in the presence of gods who feed on faith and depend not only on its presence but also on the contents and can also empower their followers. Under such conditions, there may be different options, including unconscious empowerment in view of the misconceptions and character traits of a particular deity.
@Aliks8: This is not a new TARDIS, but the same one. RTD has repeatedly said that it is real, and not a copy at all, and promised confirmation in the final. That's it, Sutekh stayed on it, despite the hammer blow
the doctor came, found the girl's parents, left. the quest of the season is completed. in general, the ending of the season is somehow so simple that it's right at all. Lunityunovskaya a little. It's a pity Ruby's mom isn't Lucy Miller. Mrs. Flood is still intriguing.
but there were great episodes in the season! half of the season, in fact. 73 yards, dot and bubble, boom and devil chord. :)
@ABrego: to the doctor. That's why his memory has changed. while he was not there, she did not turn around. yes, and the camera saw her - if not to him, maybe she expected that it would be seen on the record.
@Xosya: yes, how can you give a name to a child by pointing your finger at a sign on the street where there is no one except the person pointing at the sign?)))
@DogiBudaev: in general, initially she didn't seem to turn around and point her finger, but just walked away into the distance. The memory of the events of that evening changed after the Doctor's visit to defeat the goblin king. I assume that Ruby's mom either saw the Doctor or heard the sounds of the TARDIS and after that pointed her finger in the direction of the sign with the inscription "Ruby Road".
@KonstantinRomeow: So why did the memories change? If Sutekh changed them, giving the mother importance, then the finger was rather pointing at the Tardis and the hidden Sutekh himself. And in fact, it's just a raw, unprocessed scenario. It's like they took the first draft and put it into production without any corrections
@andreyck: @DogiBudaev: he described it correctly, this is already a mistake, the writers' flaw is just a merged season, just like all merged series that even had the potential for 5ku.
And just think about how painful it was for the doctor to see Ruby dating her mother. He focused on the fact that they are both abandoned children who cannot find their parents. And so Ruby found it. And he's still alone
I love the first seasons so much...and this season, it seemed to me, is not something that literally creates whole parallels for season 1-2, and given so many references to old characters Therefore, a small part of me hoped that Ruby's mother would be Rosa in 2004 and the beginning of the start of season 1 in 2005, so everything fit together.. At first I thought that RTD had one type per gg woman, and then it dawned that mb was still not a coincidence, but alas
Very often, after looking at the comments before viewing, you unwittingly get under their influence. I didn't expect anything from the two-part series after the abundance of negativity. I specifically waited for the release of the second episode to watch the finale in its entirety at a time. Maybe because I watched both episodes at once, it turned out to be complete, complete, not delayed, but intense. We closed a lot of questions, revealed the secret of Ruby.
Not everyone can be like Clara, Amy and Donna terribly special. For example, a simple woman turned out to be special. And each person is special in his own way for those who love him, for whom he is dear. Even if he is quite ordinary. Isn't that a great idea. Of course, I also want scale and epic, but once the doctor began as a family science pop. And the main idea "secrets of Ruby" is just as suitable for family viewing as possible. A 13-year-old child looked fascinated, was scared where necessary and got moral.
In the end, the series is not to blame that its audience, who came in 2005, has grown. Maybe zeroing the counter has zeroed out the age of the target audience and the new viewer will grow with the Doctor?
For me personally, no one can replace Capaldi's monologues, pantolettes and fez, suspenders and bow tie, behold the raven with heavencent and the day of the doctor. But otherwise it doesn't mean it's bad. It's just different. Jokey is charming. We are waiting for the continuation.
Jokey and Millie are just incredible! The acting is 100,500% complete! But the plot turned out to be too bloated. Seriously. During the whole season, they did not show real adventures, secrets of the universe and space. The doctor boasted that he had been everywhere, everywhere, at the same time taking this Sutekh, but the audience did not see it all... They only heard it. In general, the vector of the series has gone towards the narrative of ordinary people, modern problems and not the most modern solutions, as well as drama on drama. There is no longer enough science fiction. Yes, you can deploy such a thing, beat it up! Previously, the Moon could have been hatched and the universe could have collapsed and been horrified... But another time has come. Of course, the characters have become more saturated, not cardboard according to Chibnell, but somehow blurred in general. I think it's the bad influence of Disney.
I missed seasons 11-13 because Whitaker, as a Doctor, didn't come in at all. And that's why I was really looking forward to a change of composition. And the new Doctor is even nothing like that. But I didn't even realize that it was the finale until I got to the last minutes of the series. I don't really understand the discontent in the comments - for me it's so sweet, kind, naive and high-quality. It's still not a Witcher, but a Doctor.
How much the Doctor has cried this season. It was felt that he was dropping his hands in places, he seemed helpless, it was depressing. Jokey is a good actor, but I don't really see a Doctor in him.
As a result, everything came down to the topic of family again (2024 was declared the year of the family in Russia?))). There was no sincerity in Doc's words that Ruby had changed him a lot. I would not say that she did a lot of significant things for him, as if previous companions had not influenced him the same way – Donna with her family, Rosa with her mother, Amy Pond...(and they influenced everything more!).
Unfortunately, my favorite series this season were only 73 yards and the series about the Glorious World.
the finale resembled the finale of season 11, they made a fuss, but it turned out to be a dummy. The best episode is 73 yards and unfortunately without the doctor, it's a good season before the finale, but the finale spoils the impression. Plus, the hands of Disney are felt, I will only pray that it will not destroy the doctor as it is now happening with star wars. It's a pity that it's only 6/10.
The final scene with Ruby's mother looks like a Persian drain. I knew that, unfortunately, she was only for season 1, but it still hurts to watch. The doctor said it right: She made her choice. She didn't need Ruby, that's obvious. The phrase "I wanted to find you every year, but I thought that you would hate me" not only is it a cliche, it also doesn't sound sincere at all. Did the authors really expect us to be moved by the fact that Ruby found her boring, undisclosed, unloving parents? It's a pity for the doctor, he didn't deserve such betrayal on her part.
@Chertt: I agree, perhaps, even though I was touched by the ending. It was so fabulous, all the women immediately got into each other and became friends, and Ruby's mom didn't have another family so that no one would suddenly feel awkward and bitter. Although sometimes it's nice to see such a wonderful ending, I couldn't help feeling that everything could (and should) not be so great at all.
How sad it is to watch your favorite TV series die. But I can say that after seventeen years, the Doctor is everything to me.
In each episode, the Doctor watched people and planets die and cried, while in the special episode he somehow told the Tenth that he had to fix his cuckoo. If he meant by this — to stand, cry and yell into space, the Tenth coped anyway, but at the same time he also tried to do something.
I hate Disney. What they've turned my favorite series into is a disgrace. As if it were just cutting beautiful frames with beautiful graphics, most likely RTD was drugged or substituted for his script, because it was clearly done by someone else. With his hands tied. With a gun to his temple.
Inclusivity is offered instead of a plot, flirting with a young audience. But they can't offer anything to this audience either. The old audience is literally shown a better season — great, everyone likes the Fourth One. But you can't just show old companions (whom the new school audience doesn't know or doesn't know well) and hope that they will take a ride! It's not enough to cut the video into tiktok, tell the story.
What have we been offered for the whole season? Ruby's mysterious mother and Snowball. Why didn't her mother find her herself, why is she glad to see her now, why do they have a good relationship? Zero answers. Why is Ruby so special? What does snow have to do with it? Because otherwise there will be no mystery?
The situation was similar in previous episodes: with this bad prime minister and a woman standing at a certain distance. With people who got out of tiktok of the future and went to explore a brave new world (and apparently, the worst of them survived, I would look at this world). He could still be interested in the series, but he couldn't give answers.
And what are the answers? After Chibnell rewrote the ent, destroyed Gallifrey one more time, it won't go away, right?
It's like Disney snatched the highlights: The Doctor and the TARDIS. So we need more Doctors (the Tenth, apparently, while the Earth was dying, his best friend's daughter was dying, sat and smoked bamboo?), and more TARDIS. The villain has one, the Doctor has one (as I remembered, the TARDIS has one), and I remind you, the Tenth has one, in the same Universe, even in the same city.
The Doctor's granddaughter is mentioned, Twitter has been discussing it again for a whole week, and what's the exhaust? Well, Susan and Susan, the other Susan, forget it.
A theme with imbecile gods that can be defeated by chaining them up? Did anyone get the joke, why did it work? And at the end, we are given a mysterious woman (who seems to be also somehow connected with the gods, but why is she also soiled?), who seems to sum up the season.
What do we have in the end? Not a single complete story, not a single answer to questions, a Doctor who now does not save people, but sympathizes with the dead, a companion who is special, special, but hardly participates in the plot, the family of this companion, whom she neglects, looking for her "real mother"! She doesn't even say "biological," she says "real."
I feel very bad, I do not know how to express it otherwise. I was literally heartbroken. Not by taking off something that I don't want, but as if they took something light and beautiful and cut it into a tasteless salad. And it can neither be eaten nor made the same.
I do not know if I will continue to watch. Maybe it was the background, but the Doctor Who series ended with Capaldi's departure for me. If you like it, all the best, and if you also died after watching this season, I suggest group tears. The Doctor is not the only one to cry.
> I hate Disney. What they've turned my favorite series into is a disgrace. As if it were just cutting beautiful frames with beautiful graphics, most likely RTD was drugged or substituted for his script, because it was clearly done by someone else. With his hands tied. With a gun to his temple.
No, it was shot by your beloved vaunted RTD, didn't you see his name in the credits? And he actually wrote 6 episodes out of 8. Plus all last year's titles from him)
Well, yes, what does Disney have to do with it? Where does this desire to find the left to blame come from? Is it Disney's fault that Chibnell didn't work out either?) To be honest, you get tired of repeating the same thing every time. Disney is not the creator of Doctor Who, Disney is the distributor of Doctor Who to international markets. Please look at the names of the people in the credits. Not a single American name. They shoot in Britain, in British studios, nothing has changed at all. Before that, Doctor Who was also shown on the American market and in other countries too, before that there was also funding from an American studio, but these were completely different companies. And now, for convenience, we have chosen one company so that it would be easier to sell the series to different countries and so that the series would be released simultaneously in different countries and in dubbing. The same Germans, for example, have been waiting for the release of new episodes for 3-4 months, and now they are watching dubbing at the same time with everyone.
> Inclusivity is offered instead of a plot Is one episode per season instead of a plot? Have you ever offered anything like this before?
> Flirting with a young audience. Well, yes, because we didn't start watching the series as children/teenagers. And the series was not originally created as a children's program, and Moffat and RTD never include children in their audience, yes.
> Mention the Doctor's granddaughter, twitter has been discussing it again for a whole week, and what's the exhaust? Well, Susan and Susan, the other Susan, forget it. Well, why can't I mention Twitter and what does Twitter have to do with it? The mention was logical, first when they found themselves in 1963, and then the main villain used her memory.
> What have we been offered for the whole season There are many different series in different genres, and if you didn't like the overall story arc (this can be understood), then there are still separate series with their own plot.
> Not a single complete story Ruby's main story is the search for her Mother, it's over.
> No answers to the questions They didn't answer only the question about the snow, so it's either a joint, or they just explained it badly, or they will explain it in the future, and the question about the neighbor. They explained where Sutekh came from. They explained why this Susan Triad was constantly appearing.
> The Doctor who doesn't save people anymore And what has he been doing all season? He saved Ruby from the Goblins, he saved the children from the monster, he helped stop the Maestro with the help of the Beatles, he helped the inhabitants of Glorious Time to escape from the monsters and in the end he stopped Sutekh and revived everyone.
> and sympathizes with the dead How can this even be a claim?
> a traveler who is special-special, but hardly involved in the plot, What do you mean, barely? The same Sutekh helped to put on a chain.
> the family of this companion, whom she neglects, looking for her "real mother"! She doesn't even say "biological," she says "real." Why can't she look for her biological mother if she's been worried about this topic all her life? She said it emotionally once, if anything.
I can perfectly understand your disappointment, and I'm not writing this to change your mind, but most of the questions have been answered. They may not have been the most unique, they may not have been presented in the best way and their implementation might have been lame, they were, but they were still there, and ignore them just because you didn't like it and blame it on Disney, well, that kind of thing.
Well, I won't even comment on the latter. The series is dead again. This has never happened before...
@EmilD: What do you say to that- www.youtube.com/watch?v=925hXkYtWZA ? or will he also bleat something unintelligible and foam at the mouth to smear the game?
@MarkRaffer: Didn't you ban me, unban me to answer? I disgust you to the point of disgust, what's wrong with you? In general, figs knows what it is and why I should watch it and spend my time on some videos, it's unclear, but I see you don't have your own arguments and you can't say anything intelligible, you're free!
@EmilD: yes, I took it apart to ask you a question, because you are already tired here in the topic, where every barrel has a plug and your sodomite whining is every fourth or even third comment here. But the video is just funny and fresh in its tracks, but your Woke reaction is more than expected. Flow around!
@MarkRaffer: You are not old enough to ask questions yet, your level is to throw off other people's videos in the comments, because you do not have your own opinion.
@MarkRaffer: which was required to be proved, yes, there is only one homophobic fuck from you, because your brain is no longer capable of generating something smart. Absolute moral decay. It is sad. And surely you're still proud of yourself! I wrote to a gay man about kneading clay, well, he's a hero!
@EmilD: maybe I'll say goodbye now to my rating, which I like so much. But...
Are you really saying that the company that invests money, the company on whose platform the series is released, does not affect the final result in any way? I sincerely hoped for RTD, however, and obviously my words about "with my hands tied and with a gun at my temple" were bitter irony. It just hurts me to see what I see.
You can see where the money was invested: in the picture, in the actors. It's not so important to me how profitable it is in terms of selling the series to different countries and so on, I look as a viewer, I evaluate as a viewer. But I see that the commercial value outweighs the artistic value, and it upsets me.
As I wrote at the end: if you like it, all the best. Without any irony. I really wanted to like it. RTD, Jokey, had a huge amount of trust from me, but I didn't see any implementation.
Snow was a pretty important part of the narrative, a clue. This gun just stayed hanging. Before, the Doctor said that everyone is special, but now he tells us about ordinary people. Okay, you say that the main topic is the search for a mother. Yes, the mother has indeed been found. But this woman is a stranger to us, they didn't tell us anything about her. Who is she? Why did you do that? Why was she afraid that she would be hated, and now everything is fine? Is Ruby's foster mother in any pain? Where is this whole life of Ruby's real mother, if she has now so easily become part of someone else's family? Does she have any children, husband/wife, dog? Is it so hard to just give some woman with the words "she's a mother"? Don't you think that's a little disrespectful to the audience? Why couldn't she be found?
About sympathy for the dead — my complaint is that the Doctor no longer saves people, he cries. And I don't mind crying, but when a person cries all the time, it doesn't count as emotional stress anymore, it's just that kind of person. There is no feeling of tension. The Doctor cries and watches the world roll where it is going. And the Doctor—the one I knew and loved—was the one who was doing something. "Always keep floundering," "Think about those in the room," "We're still alive." He didn't have time to grieve, this Doctor is mostly grieving. And he's already grieving in the process.
Again, emotional openness is cool, but then why doesn't he show Ruby his feelings at the end? In each individual case, everything can be explained, but when I look at the whole picture, I see a canvas woven from hundreds of details, in which I cannot see the integrity.
I didn't write about "the series is dead". I've been in the fandom for a long time, and I saw how the "series died" with the departure of Tennant, Smith, and the appearance of Bill... So to speak, we have experienced many ends of the world. I wrote that this series is over for me. Because I don't feel anything other than disappointment anymore.
If you are watching and you are happy, if you are waiting for every episode, reading all the spoilers, eagerly watching the actors and so on — as I did before — good! I'm jealous of you. With all my heart. But I wanted to say goodbye, and my comment was my farewell to my best friend.
@Chooprova: I just don't give a damn about his orientation, but he constantly flaunts it, and more than that, he constantly puts his own superiority in the first place, although it would seem - if everyone is equal, then why do this? So he also tries to drive ordinary white cisgender heterosexuals below the baseboard, which is why sometimes it's so funny to poke him with a stick for scientific purposes, so to speak. No, well, why not? Well, maybe you can take a look at the video that I posted for him... it's just about Disney and their latest scandal, and there are also answers to the questions that you ask.
@MarkRaffer: gt; I don't really care about his orientation. Well, yes, I don't care so much that every time you remember her for the first time :D
> but he's always showing off about her Wow, wow!
> Constantly puts his own superiority in the first place An absolute brazen, unsupported lie, although what else could you expect)
> So also ordinary white cisgender heterosexuals are trying to drive below the baseboard It's an honor to drive you under the baseboard, there are no questions for other heterosexuals)
@Chooprova: > do you really say that the company that invests money, the company on whose platform the series is released, does not affect the final result in any way?
I would really like to understand how you think this is happening? Well, she invests money, yes, well, as before, other companies invested money. How should this even affect the screenwriter? Or do you think that RTD is so weak, that it stupidly works for money and he doesn't care about the final result? Do you really think that you can just put pressure on a person with a reputation like RTD, who has been in production for more than 30 years, who was begged by BBS to return after the chibnell failures?
With all my criticism for the new season, I don't see it. We were in a hurry with Tennat, the same blue distance in terms of ratings and reviews is almost the best series with the time of Haven sent. I don't see any company pushing around here. Yes, and the point of the company is to put pressure on what exactly? so that the picture is beautiful and there is nothing behind it?
> but I see that commercial value outweighs artistic value, and that pisses me off. The fact that the picture has become better and the fact that you do not like the plots, these are two unrelated facts. Under Chibnell, too, the picture became better after Moffat. And Moffat's picture got better after RTD.
> before, the doctor said that everything is special, and now he tells us about ordinary people. Yeah, what's wrong? There were always ordinary people in the doctor's life. Martha, Donna, bill, they're all ordinary, but that doesn't mean they're not important.
> but this is a strange woman, we were not told anything about her. Who is she? Why did you do that? Why was she afraid that she would be hated, and now everything is fine? Ruby's foster mother doesn't hurt at all? Where is the whole life of Ruby's real mother, if she has now so easily become part of someone else's family? Does she have children, a husband/wife, or a dog? So push yourself to just give some woman the words "she's a mother"? Don't you think this is somewhat disrespectful to the viewer? Why couldn't she have been found?
She's really an ordinary woman, yes. She's a nurse. She left a child because she gave birth at the age of 15 and had a problematic father. She wasn't afraid of being hated, she didn't want Ruby to have any problems. Real life will be shown in Season 2. They said about her life that she had a boyfriend. And I wouldn't say that they were very pumped up. The foster mother doesn't hurt because she supports Ruby. Despite the fact that she constantly works as a guardian. I do not know why it could not have been found, but it should be clarified with the RTD. And yes, no, I don't think so. Yes, there are shoals in the story, but still most of the questions were answered. I understand that they are weak and there is not enough detail somewhere, but again, they were. And the fact that Ruby will return in Season 2 means that they will continue to delve into this topic.
> about feeling sorry for the dead — my claim is that the doctor no longer saves people, he cries. Well, I already wrote about this, he saves people.
@EmilD: Yeah, this famous Disney, who NEVER tied the hands of movie makers, forcing them to do what they would pay for at the moment of HYPE, and not a high-quality product that would be bought for a long time. The same Disney that a hell of a lot of employees don't sue every year because they wildly violate laws, interfere in the creation process and don't pay salaries.
I'm hz, as you might not notice, but the scripts really seemed to be written on a timer. They let the screenwriters into a room without windows and clocks, and then they fly in with screams "HANDS ON THE TABLE" and we get a series with an interesting beginning and ending in the form of "well, in short, that's it, the end ". The end of the series is just terrible, no logic, no explanation.
Well, no one has been looking at the picture in this series for a long time. People love stories, but no one cares about the unsurpassed picture quality.
now there will be a very sudden, completely unexpected thought: what if RTD just wrote in Doctor Who, walking in circles is bad and other new showrunners are needed, and even without Disney it would be exactly the same
@GamoriC: Again. Let's start with the facts. So Disney tied RTD's hands, forced him to do what he paid for at the time of the hype. Interfered with the work of RTD, Moffat, launched RTD into the room without a watch and then flew into the table with screams of his hand? Yeah?
It turns out RTD is a complete moron, bent under Disney. It turns out that when he was asked by the Air Force to return and they decided what kind of streaming they would cooperate with, creating the new season of RTD, I thought so: "So let's choose a specially bad Disney, so that they tie our hands, interfere in the work, so that the scripts are specially bad, so that later they write nasty things about me on the internet and say that I bent under Disney"?
Is that how you think you are? It turns out that such an honored veteran of British TV, Russell T. Davis, who wrote a lot of different series, received a lot of different awards, and his last series "this is sin" collected incredible ratings, a lot of positive reviews, etc., in general, did not care about everything and what did he specifically decide to do sucks?
I do not know how to explain again so that you understand that Disney did not buy Doctor Who, Disney does not produce Doctor Who, Disney buys the rights to show Doctor Who. The series belonged and still belongs to BBS. Intellectual rights to the season belong to the Air Force. All revenue from merchandise and other products will go to the air force.
Before there was no Disney, different countries also bought the rights to show the series and financed it. In Canada, it was Sapce, in Australia it was ABC1, in the US it was BBC America and AMC in the last seasons, before that it was Syfy, and during the 13th Doctor it was HBO Max, in New Zealand it was TVNZ, in Brazil it was TV Cultura, In Russia in the beginning there was STS, then NST, Cy-Fi, Disney and a bunch of other channels and at the end KinoPoisk and so on.
But in 2022, they decided that it was time to move on to more serious streaming, to find such a partner that the series was easier to advertise and easier to show, so that it could be released simultaneously in all countries, and in some countries to show in dubbing. And for the first time in a long time in Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Germany, France, new series were immediately released in local dubbing.
Therefore, they decided to choose Disney, which is primarily aimed at the family audience, and DC is primarily a family series. Even though the budget has grown a little, he still doesn't have as much collateral money as it might seem. The budget of the new season is not close to the budgets of Star Wars and Marvel series.
Why am I writing this? I write all this not to justify RTD and its scripts, I write all this not to protect Disney, I write all this to show how business works and explain how funding works. And I'll say it again. Dinsey didn't buy Doctor Who, he has the rights to show the series outside the UK. He's only here as a younger brother who takes the series in essence in return. Because sooner or later the contract will end and the series may disappear from the Disney catalog, because new episodes do not belong to him, as happens very often with Netflix (remember Marvel series?) I have already written above, the series is being shot in the UK, in British studios, with British actors, the series is being shot by British directors, producers are all united British, the companies responsible for graphics are British, absolutely all the creators of the series live and work in the UK, not even a single producer from Disney is on the filming site, which I could somehow control the process of creating new series and drive a spoke in the wheels. At the same time, people respond to the creation of new series absolutely the same as 20 years ago. RTD, produced by Phil Collinson and produced by Bad Wolf owners Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.
It is immediately clear that you do not read voice-over materials about the creation of the series. First, many years ago, RTD published the book "The Writer's Tale", which tells in detail about the creation of 3-4 seasons of DC and 3 seasons of Torchwood. I recommend that you check it out. Secondly, every month the magazine Doctor Who is published, where the processes of creating new series are directly described in detail, there was even a section "production diary", where it literally described on what days those or other drafts of the series were submitted. And there are also a bunch of voice-over videos that are released after the release of series, where many different interviews are shown with the creators of the series, and not only with some important people, but even with banal microphone holders, for example.
I can perfectly understand your disappointment and desire to find the culprits, but I think the problem here is much deeper and more complex. And as always happens with movies and TV shows, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. It seemed to me that it was just here.
@EmilD: Fuck yes, because Disney has never bent famous screenwriters and directors under itself. They announced not the purchase of the rights to the show, but rather the cooperation and financing of the series, which automatically gives this company the right to interfere in the creation process. And they also like to write in contracts what to say in interviews, how to answer questions and what to talk about in BTS (this has never happened and here it is again).
Perhaps RTD is already tired of DC and he is now just earning funding for his new projects (yes, they often do that too, they go to write shit for a mouse corporation to give money for a normal project).
And what does this have to do with additional materials about season 3-4, I don't understand...
@GamoriC: Don't pay attention to him... this is a local blessed one, who froths at any mention of the Doctor and all the arguments that he does not like are automatically recorded by the person who wrote these arguments - almost as blood enemies.
@GamoriC: >>> is now just earning funding for his new projects.
By the way, the most illustrative example of such earning at Disney was Taika Waititi, who did the devil knows what with the last Thor, but put a penny in his pocket.
@GamoriC: >> They did not announce the purchase of the rights to the show, but rather the cooperation and financing of the series, which automatically gives this company the right to interfere in the creation process
The right to show this is cooperation and financing, I have even specifically described who they collaborated with before. But it seems that you deliberately ignored all the words about the fact that the series does not belong to them, and the last word still remains with the BBC, because DC is not a personal Disney series, like the same Percy Jackson, for example, to change everything to suit your wishes.
And about the fact that Disney will swallow someone under itself. Well, it concerns THEIR PERSONAL PROJECTS. Doctor Who is not their personal project, it is someone else's property. How can they control someone else's property? I'm waiting for a detailed explanation. And was there at least one project of someone else's production before that, so that they bent it under themselves?
Let's at least have at least one proof, how exactly did Disney interfere in the production of the new season? Some insider or something?
> And they also like to write in contracts what to say in interviews, how to answer questions and what to talk about in BTS (this has never happened and here it is again).
That's all fine, of course, but no one working on Doctor Who HAS SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH DISNEY. Because in the case of a new season, the employer is the BAD WOLF studio, which is directly involved in the development and filming of the series. Oops, it's awkward somehow! That's why Doctor Who didn't go on strike last year, when all the series stopped production, so the series continued to be quietly filmed.
gt; Perhaps RTD is already tired of DC He was so tired of DC, so he returned to shoot two whole seasons and is already writing the third season right now, and the spin-off will start shooting soon, yes.
> and he's just earning funding for his new projects right now. Does he have problems financing new projects? Why weren't there any problems before? Are you sure you're talking about RTD, and not about someone else? After leaving Doctor Who in 2010, all the roads in front of him were open and not to say that he stumbled somewhere so that they suddenly closed, his last series "This is a Sin" is still a rating hit, now literally any new project of his, any studio will quickly want to take development, because he has nothing to prove Don't.
@MarkRaffer: Don't worry, baby, you'll be my only blood enemy here. No one has reached your level yet) And it's very funny to watch you running through the comments and whining, go on, honey, it flatters me)
I may be a lazy viewer - but I do not know the names of the classic authors of the Doctor, nor the production, and I do not even know the names of all the characters in the series, what to say about their real ones. It even makes me feel better that the Doctor is a Doctor, and not some Peter now, in another Beater body. What you're saying about Disney is generally news to me, because they don't fit together in my head, although, yes, I felt the changes from season 10, where the plot was more "independent". I don't really follow trends or social networks, and I didn't even know that the Doctor was so debating this year. But I don't think that's the problem. Unfortunately or fortunately, in principle, political / social / etc. trends are increasingly influencing what we watch on screens, so comparing the Doctor of 2024 with the Doctor of 2015 is completely unfair. I'm upset about the new season, no, I'm not excited. It seems to me that our eyes are already so dusty that I don't even remember the last time I was surprised at all in a good way by the series.
My comment does not contradict you in any way, I just wanted to share my thoughts that appeared after so many negative comments
@Chooprova: I was offended by the attitude towards my foster mother, a caring, kind woman. And the series itself sets the wrong example for foster children: your biological mother made a mistake and is very sorry, now she is a successful nurse. For the most part, such mothers turn out to be alcoholics and marginals, alas.
here's the thing that when a character cries - in every episode, helplessly grabs his head - in every episode, screams into the sky - in every second episode, you as a viewer just stop paying attention to it. emotions, no matter how sharp they are, cease to have weight. it seems that a catastrophe of indescribable scale has occurred, the Doctor has a burden of guilt that he has hung on himself, an indescribable weight - a cry to the universe could ideally express how, no, HOW bad he is now, but... He was already screaming the same way when a bunch of privileged, spoiled kids refused his help. well, that is, several people are fools and hundreds of worlds turned to dust - are these really events that require the same reaction?
The 11th once said: in 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important. and the 15th delivered a huge monologue about ordinary people and far-fetched importance, trying to present the main idea of the most global mystery of the season so that at least at first glance it looked logical - but inside nothing moved, it did not resonate as it resonated after the words of the 11th. I am generally silent about the pretentious speech a la "I am life". there is a feeling that screenwriters need to dig less into lengthy monologues, and more often remember that "brevity is the sister of talent." but this is, of course, a matter of taste.
I didn't like the series. there were good episodes in the season, there were great ones, but the finale for me is just an impenetrable mess.
@azabeth_who: by the way, it's funny, they noticed on Twitter that Ruby also cried almost every episode, but there are no complaints about her, it's strange.
@EmilD: if you think that this comment contains all my "claims" - then no, only those thoughts that I wanted to share.
and so yes, to the companion whom I see for the first season and whose character I learn from scratch, I really have fewer questions than to the Doctor, it's strange how so of course.
"Doctor Who" ended a long time ago, it's a pity that there was a "restart", where old heroes flash by. Well, it's such a mess to invent a god of death who traveled all this time with a dock on the roof of the Tardis. When you don't know what to come up with, you start attributing the events of the past years to completely new faces (I remind you, the "restart"), everything was talked out and the end of the season came out all at once ... it's not surprising that the rating of the series fell below nowhere, it would be better if it was closed.
Was I the only one who didn't understand the storyline of Ruby's mother's relationship with her daughter throughout the season? Didn't it seem strange to you how Ruby was tearing up her ass in search of a man who refused her?! The mother is the one who raised, and did not give birth and abandoned! Yes, she was 15 years old, but komon, when she grew up, where was she before? This is such a spat at Ruby's non-native mother, who raised her and raised her like her own daughter! Their reunion would be sweet and it would not seem strange if they were forcibly separated, bleeeen
@Ricky_LA: a typical story of foster children when they lived / live well with their parents with excellent relationships with them, but always go looking for biological ones knowing that they were abandoned, such lines always infuriate. In reality, there are such people anyway, but I never understood why this is considered normal and good and why all this is and it would be fine to find just for the sake of interest what kind of person (I understand this), but it's wonderful to communicate amicably, I don't know, I would be very offended by someone who dumped me in childhood without trying later to establish communication for many years and would not go to have a family with such a person
@Geist-Luft: In practice, biological parents most often turn out to be not nice nurses, but downtrodden drunks. Some child will watch the series and be inspired by the search for a biomama that turns out to be completely different from the series.
God, I just cried so much throughout the series, I didn't dare to watch the finale for a long time, I knew it would be so sad and joyful at the same time!At first I was so upset because of Kate and Mall, then when the Doc was just yelling looking at Earth and other planets, we haven't seen such an emotional doctor for a long time, I even see 10 in him a little, he also suffered a lot and was sad and a little bit of a mixture of 11 Doctors, he is both crazy and funny, and it's cool. I admire RTD that he wrote this Doctor exactly like that!He defeated death and that's cool! This mystery with Ruby's mom is of course very strange, I did not expect that she would turn out to be an ordinary person.where did all this snow come from, I don't understand,it's very cool that Ruby immediately forgave her and understood,I'm very proud of her, really!"We give things importance, while everything revolved around her, her very existence made her more important than the time lords and gods, the most important woman in the universe turned out to be ordinary!" - it was said very cool, but the same phrase is a reference to Donna, she is the most important woman, I will never forget it, and the Doctor forgot RTD.. I really like Susan Twist, she's so cool, if she fits into the Unit perfectly)))Plus, the mystery of Miss Flood remains a mystery who she is, she knows the Doctor and pretended to be a neighbor, I knew from the very beginning that she was an unusual person, well, the wife of a popular musician cannot play an ordinary neighbor))Let's see who she is, maybe she'll be in the Christmas edition))The farewell of the Doctor and Ruby is just to tears, I really cried incredibly! They are so wonderful and wonderful, their travels, friendships, planets and monsters it was amazing! This season was very cool, they got to the very heart, I hope Ruby will definitely come back well, we know that, it's clear that she wants to be with her family, her adventure is just beginning! How sad it was when he said goodbye to her, and she said I love you just like Rosa (no, I'm not a fan of them)but from the very beginning, I saw only Roses, Russell apparently tried to achieve this...Ruby changed the Doctor and this is the best thing that can be, looking at them with my mother, I think he was thinking about his mother himself, someday this secret will be revealed, I sincerely believe! And I'm very glad that he decided to definitely find Susan. I always knew that all these mentions and references were for a reason and they would definitely be together..Now I'm looking forward to December and the Moffat episode, and Nicola, the Bridgeton actress, will be there, it's very cool, I adore her, and now I'm waiting even more!
Very cool, very pleasant. This feeling after watching is what I fell in love with Doctor Who and have been watching for many years.
Jokey is cool. Energy, vivacity, cheerfulness - you don't even doubt that this is a Doctor who returned to himself, to his character, after he was mentally shaken. And of course, everything did not go unnoticed, but he learned how to release emotions, cope, build relationships.
And how I missed this feeling of a filled universe where there are many characters, where the companion has a life outside the Tardis.
It's so lively, bright and comfortable that I really rested watching it. Millie is charming, it was nice to see her as a companion and it would be great if she came to visit.
Damn, I'm disappointed. There is no satisfaction from the season at all. Well, yes, there is a beautiful picture in some places, the actors are pretty. I really liked the tardis from my memories, such a bunny. A very creepy old neighbor, I really would have gone more without this scene at the end. In general, the beginning with Sutekh has gone very far, and this sand on the planets, well, it's lovely
Ruby has very nice moms, both of them. The reunion is really charming
THIS Doctor is terribly clicky. Well, does he whine all the time? Well, it's impossible, about and without. In each episode, he lets out a tear and runs away. Throughout the season, Ruby handled mostly while the Doctor was standing on a mine and crying, while he was sitting in the tardis (and probably crying), while he was crying that the elite from the island went after him, crying when he couldn't understand a granddaughter-not a granddaughter. And he ran away: from the maestro, from the maestro, from Sutekh, from everyone in general. And thanks to the redhead (I forgot the name) for asking him to stop whining. It's a pity it didn't help
The phrase "I swear by a spoon" is very strange. Yes, there's a drama there, but it's still a cringe
Sutekh looks like a kangaroo) Or a flying rat) What was done to him was animal cruelty)) I did not feel any emotions about the suffering of the Doctor on the topic of the universe dying!" and "Everyone is dead!" — it was too obvious that in half a series everything would be rolled back.
I used to cry when watching episodes, now the Doctor is crying for me, and I'm sitting with my face: so what? Well, I don't care. I don't even want to discuss plot things, there were a lot of things that I didn't like, there was a little bit that I liked, but the Doctor himself is absolutely not mine. I've been following him closely all season, I haven't made any hasty conclusions, but now I can say, no joke, not a fig, not a Doctor, but a pathetic parody, and it's very sad:(
Definitely this doctor is much better than Whittaker. Did I like it - in general, yes, but if you take this season not as a season of the doctor, but as a stand-alone series. The Doctor we all loved seems to be gone for a long time. Matt Smith is a long way away, Peter Capaldi is like a cancer to the moon. I'm not talking about Tennant at all, this level is unattainable)
OK, I got tired last night, so briefly. The final is normal. A good ending. Not great, not terrible. Another enemy from the classics has been returned. By the way, the funniest thing about this circus with a soft reboot and a new numbering is that it felt like there were almost more references to the classics in this one season than some new school Doctors had in their entire era (and the season was shortened!) x) Fuck the garden Have you been in town, I ask? =3
Millie is infinitely beautiful, and causes nothing but extremely positive emotions, their interaction with Jokey is excellent, and he himself came to me as a Doctor, we approve. Just one request, stop cutting onions on the set, he LITERALLY roars IN EVERY episode, even Tennant held on more steadfastly x) If DC were Spider-Man, then Jokey would be Tobey Maguire =3
And the season as a whole turned out to be good. Two masterpieces in the form of "The Devil's Chord" and "Boom", a strong final two-part series, and interesting, although late to the end "73 Yards"with "Dot and Bubble". It's just weak - only Rogue, but the Space Babies haven't gone very far from it either. In general, the balance is 6 to 2, it turns out that it is worthy.
But the most important thing happened: after the desire to watch the series ongoing was completely killed in me by the cursed Chibnell with his cursed Timeless Child (and this was the only series that I watched ongoing and waited for every episode!), this season was still able to resurrect him, for which I am eternally grateful to RTD. So I'm finally looking forward to the next episode. Moreover, it is written by Moffat, a favorite ^_^
The funny thing is that this original ending about the mother is not original at all. It was exactly the same in The Last Jedi. Then the authors looked at the reaction and hurriedly changed their shoes, saying, yes, Ray's parents are absolutely nobody, but her grandfather... I suspect it will be the same here.
@kate_archer: Russell T. Davis has already said off—screen that this plot is his answer to the arch of Rey from the Stars. That he didn't like the way her story was rewritten, making her special. Therefore, Ruby is not the daughter of Sutekh or anyone else, but just Ruby.
I was ready to write a lot in the course of watching the finale, starting from a bunch of strange plot decisions and undisclosed moments to some kind of twisted, licked pathos emotionality. And then a couple of days passed, I exhaled, realized that the finale was not so imprinted in my memory to sort it out, and in the end I generally thought "OK, this is a restart, for a younger audience" (although it is strange and sometimes flirting head-on with plots from classics that this audience is definitely not dreaming about) and "just remember how you reviewed the Eccleston series at the age of 30 and how cringey they looked, unlike the first acquaintance with the series at the age of 16.".
It would be interesting to know the opinion of teenagers watching the Doctor for the first time in this performance. And for me, unfortunately, this ending will remain in importance somewhere at the level of the Adventures of Sarah Jane (which I really liked many years ago in their general naivety).
It was as if New School just fell into the trap of constant growth along with the audience, gained epicness and gradually went into such a more serious gloomy adult vibe that such childish naivety of the series seems stupid to old people. Well, yes, they put a divine being on a leash and squandered the universe like empty cans on a wedding wheelbarrow - a joke. They brought life back "by hinting at minus death" - is this of course also a watafak? But damn, this is a Doctor who solves many issues with a sonic screwdriver in general, which dick knows what principle it works on :D Were there more elegant and mind-blowing plots? of course there were. Is this the worst two-part series? Not either. Not a bad average guy.
@albinka_: well, the ending is really the weakest in RTD, it may be better than Jody's finals, but it feels like the script was rewritten during filming and squeezed because of the small timing. But it seems to me that the series will never have finales of the level of the first seasons anyway. That's why I stopped expecting an epic from them. I don't think even fresh blood will help the series. But as long as series like Boom or 73 Yards continue to be released, I'm ready to put up with such a sad scenario.
@persephoneia: and now in detail about the season, I'm writing right after watching the finale.
1. I liked it! There were strong moments, there were weak moments, but the atmosphere itself and the feeling that the Doctor has finally returned is there. "Neat, fresh and clean", and also able to live his pain, and not hiding it behind masks, hugs and averted gaze. I was surprised myself every time the Doctor cried and screamed, because it was new to me. Sometimes I saw something similar from the Eleventh, but less often.
2. I liked Ruby. There was sometimes a feeling that the actress was overreacting with emotions, but at the end of the season she seemed to level out. I liked that she was an ordinary girl and that her mother was also an ordinary person. We ourselves attach importance and significance to things dear to our hearts — this philosophy is clear to me and resonates.
3. I demand the return of Jonathan Groff, his Rogue was good!
4. I love the divine theme, I would love to look at other creatures from other religions.
5. I didn't like Sutekh's graphics, I could have done better, this dog is too childish. But there are no questions about how he was dealt with. I am a simple man, I believe in all the Doctor's explanations, in all his timey-wimey and unexpected gods from the car.
6. I easily said goodbye to the Chibnell era, there were no clear memories of his seasons, only a feeling of eternal lectures and notations. RTD also introduces the social, but it makes it softer and more subtle, without saying it to our face.
7. And finally, Joke. I accepted him as a Doctor right away. He is so energetic, so feeling and enjoying. Alive, in short. He can laugh at snot, he can flirt with a handsome man, he can dance at a party in a kilt. The blood is boiling!
@persephoneia: 2. Ruby wasn't the only one who went overboard. It seems that the motto was hanging over the set and shouted into megaphones: more emotions, more! For any reason! There is no such word as "overkill"! =)) Maybe a theatrical approach? Everything is exaggerated there, because it is not visible as on the screen. Well, in general, it refreshes the impressions of the series after a bunch of seasons with "chewed up" emotions, even if it was too much (it also seemed to me, but it's easier to bear than the constant burden of unspokenness).
Well, in general, this season is certainly more epic and emotional, with good ideas. Refreshed, revived, you might say.
But specifically the final 2 episodes... there are a lot of moments of emotional pressure that I wanted to squander, because the corn is already in place of the usual "buttons".
And the finale... A swing for a ruble, a blow for a penny, literally. It reminds me of something... Oh yes, the last three seasons of Star Trek Discovery! No, seriously: 2 hours of problems were solved in 3 minutes before disappointment in the simplest way.
In general, such a scheme can work, but if there were any eyeliners, brainstorming sessions, details that the viewer can then add up, all these two hours. And here it seems that they came up with a solution to the problem during the filming of the same final episode literally from improvised materials because screen time has expired. And they're like, "Oh, wait, we've spent so much time chewing the aahs and oohs of each character that it's time to tie it up as soon as possible."
And of those three minutes, the Doctor's pompous speech took another one. I recognize its objective necessity, given its age-old principles. But it still looked like the cliched speech of the villain before the murder of the hero, only the opposite. It would be more natural to express this to someone close to you.
Well, the smearing of guilt didn't go down well for me either. Probably because they include it very selectively. In particular, I see more reason to be self-righteous about that bounty hunter right up to his search, and to kill the killer... Well, such a reason to suddenly get steamed up. In Sutekh's situation, you expect the Doctor to "solve the problem urgently", and not the pretentious hand-wringing "it's all my fault!"
Either I'm getting old, or the audience is getting dumber, or the screenwriters are too lazy to deliver a real drama, and not hanging snot on far-fetched occasions. In general, if it were reduced to one episode, it would look more cheerful than kmk.
The finale of the finale against this background, the little things are illogical, but kind, I even burst into tears from the meeting.
Well, I really liked the season as a whole and caused a lot of pleasant emotions and goosebumps. I did not like the excessive emotionality of the doctor. This, of course, is a pleasant variety on the one hand, but somehow too often he cries and stamps his foot, for all the previous doctors, apparently)) Ruby was a little disappointed with the final explanation of her mother's secret, although the message is very kind. In general, the last episode is weak. The same 73 yards caused an order of magnitude more powerful experience, and the swarm of incomprehensible crap around the tardis with strange sounds was also more frightening than a big talking doberman, it would be better if it did not materialize. I really want the doctor to fly to look for rogue now and take him as a companion, but I already realized from the comments above that these dreams are not destined to come true. It's a terrible shame, such chemistry! It would be better not to tease.
Was such a cool boss nailed in 2 episodes?? tin and where is the reserve for the 2nd season? I'm sorry for pesel)))) In general, I hoped that Ruby's mom would be a supernatural being. Or it will be connected somehow with the Doctor, the Tardis, with the doctor's granddaughter, well, or with old heroes from previous seasons. For example, the same Amy Pond. And she's an ordinary little person.. Then why was Sutekh so interested in her? We could have come up with something more interesting ... Okay, we are waiting for the next season, it will be released in 2 years)
@llantana: так ещё будет рождественская серия, если где и сделают задел на второй сезон, то там Ну и он точно будет в следующем году, его уже полностью отсняли
I've always really liked this series, but this season is a complete mess. The plots are absurd and feigned, the doctor overplays and cries in every episode, and even faggots ... they began to breed a dream, fu, this is not doctor who, this is some kind of complete bullshit
It's interesting in places, but it's so crazy. Almost every episode has 100 questions and 0 answers. It's just a mess, not a restart. You watch the old seasons and each episode is like a separate cool story, but here it's a complete cringe. From Doctor Who, it's time to rename the series to "Doctor What/why/why?"
To escalate the whole season, to build a mystery of universal scale out of Ruby's mother, in order to eventually show an unremarkable woman and pour platitudes on top of it all about the role of the family, etc., are you serious? I didn't really expect anything from the season, but I was really interested in Ruby's story, and we couldn't even finish it properly. You can generally keep silent about the villain, you still had to try to work on such a drain, I was glad that at last the Daleks or the Master were not far away, but it seems that the authors only know how to do something with them, the rest are simply introduced and output. Yes, I will keep watching, because this is one of the few series that I have been with for many years, and yes, I still am not bored, although there is no originality left at all. But Jokey is still not a Doctor and is unlikely to become one, and Ruby is a poorly acting actress, but a pretty good character and I would not mind seeing her as a companion again, but as it is.
I was afraid to start the season for a long time, but in the end I'm happy) Maybe the plot and plot twists are a little weak, but I really liked the Doctor himself. I just mentally rested while watching the season)
Nonsense came out..
I have a complaint that all this was surrounded by frankly weak and unnecessary scenes. And Russell is like, "Yeah, look how I fooled you!"
One could say "oh yes Russell!", only this joke is like confetti at a rotten party, it looks ridiculous.
RTD is not a master finalist, so let's write it down.
UPD: oh, well, it also turns out that Idris should have known about Sutekh))0
By the way, the most impressive thing was the fitting of memories into the plot of the Tardis - the spin-off of the series was explained in a great way. Well, Mel, it turns out she was a companion on the 15th).
Yes, it would be better not even, I'm already tired of this krynzhovnik with monologues of the children's theater in the camera. I'm not even interested in who it is or what it is, as long as it stops.
In other words, under the pressure of the public, they will still have to rewrite the scripts and introduce a character there.
There were so many plans, there were so many plans... and such ominous hints about the Doctor)
it is a pity that we are parting with Ruby so early, I really liked her as a companion, but at least this parting is not on a sad note, and she did find out the truth about her parents. it was even unexpected, it seemed that the topic would be hushed up like it doesn't matter, ololo. but they did, and even in such detail. the moment about the fact that her mother is the most ordinary woman, to whom they themselves attached importance, is very good. here you can feel the sharp difference between RTD and Moffat, who just let loose and everyone you meet will be the most important-special-wonderful.
overall, there were quite mixed impressions from the season, but I was pleased with the finale, and now I will look forward to the continuation)
is 1,000,001,000,170,770,238,518
Immediately, the advantage is that it is still a two-part series, and it works like a two-part series. I was fooled in the first part, strained during the second part and silenced in the finale. This was not the case, for example, with "The Wedding of River Song", because there was no two-part finale.
In short, there is something to compare, and I would not put either "The Legend of Ruby Sunday / Empire of Death" or "The Battle for Ranscore Av Kolos" in the last place in the TOP 14 finals of Doctor Who
If at least someone who put a minus sign asked what the series was all about and how good it was, would there be an answer?) But if someone likes the season 11 finale more than this finale, then I'm ready to shake hands, because it's respected)
I disagree about some episodes, but I liked this finale more than the finales of all three seasons of Jody and more than the finale of season 10, but the first part was brilliant, and the second, well, okay, although even Moffat's bad episodes have a lot of good things.
But my favorite finales are HellBent and the season 8 finale. But if you read the comments on "Death in Heaven", you can catch deja vu. I remember perfectly well how the series was halted at that time.
the special effects are on the level, but the ending is frankly weak.
I subscribe to every word.
Then all her knowledge is clear
It's not for nothing that they talk about her so often....
I don't know what it's called, but I got carried away with this thing in a screwdriver for blood analysis, but otherwise why not))))
I didn't like the Unit this season. it left the impression of some kind of useless fuss, and armed to the teeth.
in general, the season imho came out on a four with a minus, but probably still just the first lump. it could have been better if the season had been longer, but it seems to me that a more twisted plot would have turned out to be simply not suitable for 8 episodes, so it's probably not a bad thing that with a small number of them, such a not very sophisticated denouement was made for Ruby. but it still feels like I wanted something more.
PS Mrs. Flood, who the hell are you ( งò_ó)ง
There were so many theories about Ruby's parents, but in fact they turned out to be ordinary people and maybe it's for the best☺️
By the way, isn't Ruby's mom playing Millie's mom by the hour? They're just very similar.😉
I can't say that I was very impressed with Sutekh's line. But, in principle, it was normal.
Plus, it was nice to see footage from the classics.
Only it remains unclear who the neighbor is and why the ending of the Dock is tragic👀
And, about Ruby, if I hadn't known that she would be in the new season, I would have thought that this was the character's finale.
Thank you so much for the season.
I love you.» 🥹🥹🥹
«Oh, that clever boy»
Клара?!?!?!?!
I don't deny that I might not have looked very closely, but somehow too many questions arise if Ruby is really an ordinary child of ordinary parents.
And then you're like, "Um, why didn't he turn the leash into dust?"
Otherwise, the series is good, beautifully filled with references to past episodes and it's nice that the companion (temporarily) left not through drama and suffering /worries about danger and death, but happily. It seems that this was even a little lacking.
I understand that you may not like the move "kill everyone and then resurrect" in principle, but should you be upset that someone in particular has been returned?
When the whole universe turned to dust, it was clear that everything would be put back in place. It was just unclear how. They returned it, and thank God. "No, well, what now?"
The fact that Ruby's mom is an ordinary mortal... well, that kind of thing. When they started showing her pictures and telling me about her life, I hoped that there would be some "but". At least the screens all went off suddenly, or the doctor was like, "oh, I know her." But the feeling is a bit bummer. Again, "no, okay, what now."
In general, it's fine. The season is good.
Hachiko mode is on.
this is the god of DEATH, how did he let himself be tied to some kind of intellectual rope (btf by the way??)?? and I didn't understand how everyone came back to life (death + death? what?.. how did they spread this effect to the entire extinct universe? was "cutting" clouds this effect or is it just for beauty?).
I like the new Doctor. He's a bit of a crybaby, but he's got a new personality. He's still the same Doctor, he just cries a little more often than the others.
I'm waiting for the nightmarish end of the Doctor.
Flood...
>> I used to stamp my foot in the direction of Moffat and the 12th doctor, I want to apologize, I was wrong.
Justice has finally been served!
Soon people will start loving the Chibnell and Jody era in this way.
And apparently in 10 years this season will be remembered with love :D
Here the actors understand the characters, but most of the scripts are like that; (there are good ties, and then somehow the script rolls down like a stone.
No one will do better than the final than the lost land/the paths diverge. I got what I wanted from the new doctor with the good old RTD: I want to continue watching the series.
Moffat wrote nothing for the 13th
The question is about the very fact of the presence of Sutekh.
It would have been even more epic if Sutekh's energy had also split, and in the end they fought, and so superimposed minus on minus)
the quest of the season is completed.
in general, the ending of the season is somehow so simple that it's right at all. Lunityunovskaya a little.
It's a pity Ruby's mom isn't Lucy Miller.
Mrs. Flood is still intriguing.
but there were great episodes in the season! half of the season, in fact. 73 yards, dot and bubble, boom and devil chord. :)
And in fact, it's just a raw, unprocessed scenario. It's like they took the first draft and put it into production without any corrections
Therefore, a small part of me hoped that Ruby's mother would be Rosa in 2004 and the beginning of the start of season 1 in 2005, so everything fit together..
At first I thought that RTD had one type per gg woman, and then it dawned that mb was still not a coincidence, but alas
> Inclusivity is offered instead of a plot
Is one episode per season instead of a plot?
> What have we been offered for the whole season
There are many different series in different genres, and if you didn't like the overall story arc (this can be understood), then there are still separate series with their own plot.
> Not a single complete story
Ruby's main story is the search for her Mother, it's over.
> No answers to the questions
They didn't answer only the question about the snow, so it's either a joint, or they just explained it badly, or they will explain it in the future, and the question about the neighbor.
They explained where Sutekh came from. They explained why this Susan Triad was constantly appearing.
> The Doctor who doesn't save people anymore
And what has he been doing all season? He saved Ruby from the Goblins, he saved the children from the monster, he helped stop the Maestro with the help of the Beatles, he helped the inhabitants of Glorious Time to escape from the monsters and in the end he stopped Sutekh and revived everyone.
> and sympathizes with the dead
How can this even be a claim?
> a traveler who is special-special, but hardly involved in the plot,
What do you mean, barely? The same Sutekh helped to put on a chain.
> the family of this companion, whom she neglects, looking for her "real mother"! She doesn't even say "biological," she says "real."
Why can't she look for her biological mother if she's been worried about this topic all her life? She said it emotionally once, if anything.
I can perfectly understand your disappointment, and I'm not writing this to change your mind, but most of the questions have been answered. They may not have been the most unique, they may not have been presented in the best way and their implementation might have been lame, they were, but they were still there, and ignore them just because you didn't like it and blame it on Disney, well, that kind of thing.
Well, I won't even comment on the latter. The series is dead again. This has never happened before...
or will he also bleat something unintelligible and foam at the mouth to smear the game?
In general, figs knows what it is and why I should watch it and spend my time on some videos, it's unclear, but I see you don't have your own arguments and you can't say anything intelligible, you're free!
But the video is just funny and fresh in its tracks, but your Woke reaction is more than expected. Flow around!
You are not old enough to ask questions yet, your level is to throw off other people's videos in the comments, because you do not have your own opinion.
And who else? Come on, tell me if you're so brave)
Well, maybe you can take a look at the video that I posted for him... it's just about Disney and their latest scandal, and there are also answers to the questions that you ask.
gt; I don't really care about his orientation.
Well, yes, I don't care so much that every time you remember her for the first time :D
> but he's always showing off about her
Wow, wow!
> Constantly puts his own superiority in the first place
An absolute brazen, unsupported lie, although what else could you expect)
> So also ordinary white cisgender heterosexuals are trying to drive below the baseboard
It's an honor to drive you under the baseboard, there are no questions for other heterosexuals)
> do you really say that the company that invests money, the company on whose platform the series is released, does not affect the final result in any way?
Well, the rest is already delicious.
Again.
It turns out that when he was asked by the Air Force to return and they decided what kind of streaming they would cooperate with, creating the new season of RTD, I thought so:
"So let's choose a specially bad Disney, so that they tie our hands, interfere in the work, so that the scripts are specially bad, so that later they write nasty things about me on the internet and say that I bent under Disney"?
Perhaps RTD is already tired of DC and he is now just earning funding for his new projects (yes, they often do that too, they go to write shit for a mouse corporation to give money for a normal project).
And what does this have to do with additional materials about season 3-4, I don't understand...
By the way, the most illustrative example of such earning at Disney was Taika Waititi, who did the devil knows what with the last Thor, but put a penny in his pocket.
>> They did not announce the purchase of the rights to the show, but rather the cooperation and financing of the series, which automatically gives this company the right to interfere in the creation process
That's why Doctor Who didn't go on strike last year, when all the series stopped production, so the series continued to be quietly filmed.
gt; Perhaps RTD is already tired of DC
He was so tired of DC, so he returned to shoot two whole seasons and is already writing the third season right now, and the spin-off will start shooting soon, yes.
> and he's just earning funding for his new projects right now.
And it's very funny to watch you running through the comments and whining, go on, honey, it flatters me)
What you're saying about Disney is generally news to me, because they don't fit together in my head, although, yes, I felt the changes from season 10, where the plot was more "independent".
But why is this Doctor such a crybaby?! Well, she cries in every episode!
I didn't like the series. there were good episodes in the season, there were great ones, but the finale for me is just an impenetrable mess.
and so yes, to the companion whom I see for the first season and whose character I learn from scratch, I really have fewer questions than to the Doctor, it's strange how so of course.
I did not feel any emotions about the suffering of the Doctor on the topic of the universe dying!" and "Everyone is dead!" — it was too obvious that in half a series everything would be rolled back.
I don't even want to discuss plot things, there were a lot of things that I didn't like, there was a little bit that I liked, but the Doctor himself is absolutely not mine. I've been following him closely all season, I haven't made any hasty conclusions, but now I can say, no joke, not a fig, not a Doctor, but a pathetic parody, and it's very sad:(
The Doctor we all loved seems to be gone for a long time. Matt Smith is a long way away, Peter Capaldi is like a cancer to the moon. I'm not talking about Tennant at all, this level is unattainable)
But damn, this is a Doctor who solves many issues with a sonic screwdriver in general, which dick knows what principle it works on :D
Were there more elegant and mind-blowing plots? of course there were. Is this the worst two-part series? Not either. Not a bad average guy.
But it seems to me that the series will never have finales of the level of the first seasons anyway. That's why I stopped expecting an epic from them. I don't think even fresh blood will help the series. But as long as series like Boom or 73 Yards continue to be released, I'm ready to put up with such a sad scenario.
It would be better not to tease.
and where is the reserve for the 2nd season?
I'm sorry for pesel))))
In general, I hoped that Ruby's mom would be a supernatural being.
Okay, we are waiting for the next season, it will be released in 2 years)
Ну и он точно будет в следующем году, его уже полностью отсняли
and I was afraid that I would have to wait 2 years)
thanks for the info)
Yes, I will keep watching, because this is one of the few series that I have been with for many years, and yes, I still am not bored, although there is no originality left at all. But Jokey is still not a Doctor and is unlikely to become one, and Ruby is a poorly acting actress, but a pretty good character and I would not mind seeing her as a companion again, but as it is.
PS maybe someone wrote about her, but there are so many comments...
Maybe the plot and plot twists are a little weak, but I really liked the Doctor himself. I just mentally rested while watching the season)
