I subscribe to many of the comments above, this is a VERY high-quality work and a film adaptation. Many of the scenes were word for word with the book, which just incredibly warmed my heart.
Even taking into account that some important points have been changed (but not missed!!), the coincidence with the book is 100/100
The actors were just wow, they conveyed emotions so wonderfully. Well, the theme of choice, dreams and desires was wonderful.
The picture is very tasty, it was shot qualitatively and it is clear that a lot of money was poured into it ahah
I really hope that the series will pay for itself, and the story will be continued!

A very cool film adaptation!
I recently watched the movie The Creator of Dreams and was extremely disappointed. I was afraid that the situation would repeat with these books.
And it turned out all in one go❤ Some book changes only benefited the plot and there were additional motivations for the actions of the characters.
The caste is perfectly matched. The chemistry between the characters is very noticeable! They are not cardboard, they seem to be talking with their eyes and this made me very happy.
Waiting for the second season and hoping that it will be extended. In the meantime, I'm going to reread the books.

I don't know anything about the further plot, I haven't read any books.But the series is not bad, it caught on. I was also afraid that this would be another mediocre film adaptation, as happens in 9/10 of cases, but I really don't remember such a high-quality film adaptation of young-adult books in the last ten years so accurately. At the same time, I did not read the original, but now I will definitely go!
I have already written compliments under previous episodes, but once again I will say why I liked it so much: not only because of the beautiful actors (many films and TV series have them), but because of the well-written characters, and not the cardboard boxes, which in 6 episodes managed to reveal themselves well, made me empathize and believe them. The actors played their roles by 200%. The scene of the first sex turned out to be so tender and erotic, where, again, it feels like two people in love are making love. This is rarely seen in teen dramas.
And the line with James's sister, Lydia, also pleased me! I liked her character too.
My only complaint is: why is there only 6 episodes? At least 8, but I wouldn't give up 10 either! I really, really hope that the entire trilogy will be filmed to the end. Because it's a really high-quality thing in its genre. And once again the proof: that a seemingly hackneyed plot is not always bad, details and implementation are important. Well, seriously, for a long time I didn't like both main characters as much as I did here. James is a really deep and good guy, not a walking bag of dough and a beautiful picture, and Ruby is a very persistent and self-sufficient girl, for whom you also want to cheer. I hope that later in the story they will stand together against the asshole father and against all other obstacles!

I read books like this in 20-21 and I remember the series in fragments, except for the first book, because I read it 2 times. I can say for sure that this is a very worthy adaptation of young edalt, perhaps even one of the best, because the adaptations of "after" and "my beautiful misfortune" only make me scream and cry. That's how I imagined James's character during the reading, Lydia is also a 100% hit for me. Ruby saw it a little differently, but I'm still glad that the actress was chosen and that she's not this typical beauty (although I think Harriet Herbig-Matten is just a super cutie), plus she has a very cool facial expression. In general, as a visual person, I am very pleasantly surprised, I will go reread books, watch all these edits in tiktok and wait for the release of season 2.

What a great movie adaptation it turned out to be! I read all three books and was looking forward to the series as soon as the news about the film adaptation appeared. I really like this kind of story, when it's one step from hate to love. The actors played super, Ruby turned out to be so sweet and cozy, James was self-confident and vulnerable at heart, and their chemistry was wildly sensual. First love, as always, came suddenly and how cool it is to watch the characters experience these feelings, these looks, touches, I had goosebumps and delight.I will really wait for 2 more seasons for the remaining 2 books, it will definitely be worth it, because the characters will still have to fight for their love.

Well, after watching the series, emotions are mixed.
First of all, I must say right away that I read the entire trilogy, I really liked it and I was waiting for the series.
I liked the film adaptation, I'm glad that they didn't change anything and throw out important pieces from the book. That's probably how I imagined it all, apart from some little things.
However, she imagined Mr. Sutton and Father James quite differently. But these are small things and only my expectations.
Secondly, I really did not expect that it would be the Germans who would make the film adaptation, since the action takes place in England :) But it turned out well

One of the advantages is a beautiful picture, an excellent soundtrack, the plot was not cut, so I put 8 out of 10. I wonder what will happen next, despite the fact that I know what will happen next) I just wonder how it will be implemented and shown

Of the cons-
1) Ruby is shown in the book as a daily planner, imho it showed her responsibility, her systematization and overall attitude to business very well. Yes, the diary was shown, but somehow briefly, as if it was just that the girl has a diary. But in the book, this was an important aspect of the character and it was by it that you could sometimes understand the mood and condition. But, again, that's how I see it, and the screenwriters saw it differently.
2) Lin and Ruby's friendship was shown little, but Lin is really a very important part of Ruby's life. I hope that they will reveal it further

I would like to share my incredible emotions after watching it. The series was held in one go. I haven't felt this way in a long time. You live every significant fragment together with the characters, and you can't get enough of their joint scenes. I'm thrilled, the ending brought me to tears. now for the film adaptation... I can't evaluate exactly the book/TV series ratio, since I haven't read it, but according to the picture, yes, it's good. by caste, it's very amateur (I'm not an amateur, it didn't happen to anyone), the acting is ..... difficult, bad, painful. You don't believe a word of it. the main character walks around all season with such a tense expression on her face, as if she is being held by claws for a soft point.. the scenes of kissing and intimacy, alas, are not reached. the main character tried something, but it was more painful than interesting. This is partly because of the cardboard nature of the characters, partly because of the lack of chemistry between the years. many scenes are cut crookedly, too naively, even with a great desire to believe in sincerity, I failed. The series is suitable for fans of "Emily in Paris" and a similar audience. I was especially amused by how the timekeeping is filled with scenes and characters that literally have ZERO meaning. I don't know if this is a claim to the book or to the film adaptation, but it's a failure. Chekhov's guns do not shoot (why, one wonders, were they hung), character growth occurs in only one case (in the rest, either degradation, and sharp, or stagnation), the final twist also makes no sense. it's clear that this is a setback for the second season, but, as a non-reader of the book, I can envy: he will send dad to all four sides, their personal taxi driver will turn out to be the real dad, James will draw drawings and enter some kind of art critic or something, his sister will give birth and hang out with the teacher, and gg will be a kick-ass an abstruse Oxford student.... they will be together, then apart, but in the end they are still together.
