It was a great decision to interrupt the chronological narrative to a new timeline immediately after the episode with the backstory of the beginning of Armand and Louis' relationship. This contrast very clearly shows the progression of Armand's need to be loved, if at first it was expressed in his sacrifice and complete submission to Louis, then the longer Louis cannot let Lestat go, the more it triggers Armand, confirming his fear that he does not deserve love, which provokes him to take advantage of his superiority in power and change Louis' memories And Daniel. The climax of his self-doubt and his relationship with Louis was the scene where he transmits Lestat's words, but cannot bring himself to say "I love you". This is torture for him on several levels at once: the realization that Lestat is not as narcissistic as he thought, and yet capable of loving, he just never loved Armand; confirmation that even giving everything he has, it is not able to buy the love of another; fear that these words will make Louis to realize that even after everything, he still loves Lestat, and leave Armand for him. And Armand looks very sexy in his evil manipulator era.
I really liked the dynamic between Louis and Daniel in this episode. It's nice to see that after so many years since the first interview, they were finally able to understand each other's motivation at that moment and admit their mistakes. Now it's interesting to find out how, after such a union, that phrase from the teasers of u fear Armand will fire. u should fear the other one."
A good episode that heightens the atmosphere before catharsis. The events in it do not greatly affect the plot directly, but their influence on the dynamics of relations between the characters is enormous, the so-called calm before the storm.

@8u881egun: It seems to me that Armand has never been sacrificed/subordinated to Louis, it's just a performance for the two of them, where Louis takes the lead (as Jacob said, becomes Lestat in their relationship) - and only because Armand allows it to be done. Another question is why Armand agrees to do this from the very beginning (even before the events with Claudia, for which Armand will kind of feel responsible and guilt for which he will try to make amends to Louis), so far my answer is because this is his comfortable way of showing feelings, it is imprinted from the time of Marius or else It used to be a pattern.

@Cry_to_Heaven: I would say that Armand wants to be controlled, managed, told how to live and what to do, because, as you have already noted, this model of relationship was laid down in his youth + lack of independence and self-doubt as the consequences of the trauma he experienced. but at the same time, he is not able to put himself in the hands of another person, because he is afraid that then he will be abandoned and everything will not go the way he wants. that's why it turns out to be some kind of absurd game where Armand actually has all the power, but if Louis asks in a certain way, then Armand obeys, but only because he wants it himself.

@c_molokom: Dadada, that's exactly what it looks like) So far, Armand is the master of the coven - he doesn't allow himself anything at all, because it's like he can't do anything in this given image. Even their first date with Louis on the embankment, where Louis told him in plain text "You are attractive, I am damn attractive, why waste time", and Armand refused and they kissed in the end only when Armand allowed himself to show this piece of Arun, which in once again, they were used and abandoned.

Arman is an unambiguous abuser and manipulator in the whole story, there is nothing to say. It seemed to me that this was obvious to everyone who had read the book at least once, since the last episode of the first season and love of my life.
I don't want to victimize Louis, but I will condemn him. If your man is boring, sad, forces you to play role-playing games, has problems controlling anger and has fucked you up for 23 years so that you are ready to go out in the sun, why are you hanging around with him all this time? What do you want from him? And you yourself fell for his whining about poor Arun, you see his injuries and were ready to protect him as much as possible, so why the hell are you poking his nose there in a fit of quarrel? The experience of violence that a human/vampire has experienced and the inability to leave this burden behind is not his fault at any time (

What a powerful series!
I waited for the conflict with Claudia to develop, but instead I finally got a full-fledged illustration of Louis and Armand's relationship.

I've only read the first two books. The image of Armand in my head is generally only from the musical, and it is completely different. I still feel a sharp dissonance about this.

And now everything is falling into place. It is clear why these two are together and their problems are understandable. At the same time, it is sad, and there is a share of sympathy for everyone and a share of anger at what he does exactly that. Very good screenwriting and acting work.

I wonder if Lestat's line will be developed in the days of San Francisco.

Each episode is getting more and more interesting, the second season has surpassed the first. Armand is crazy, Lestat already seems like an angel compared to him.

Armand, now at least they have revealed this character, here he is straight evil. Louis and Daniel are finally alone together and immersed in a shared memory, where Louis will no longer be able to escape "I don't remember that". It's been fascinating to watch Louis turn into Lestat, who is bored with the monotony (in the 70s) and what he can become. And it's sad that they both ruined Daniel's life, for the sake of "proof of our union." How do I like everything that I look forward to every episode? it seems to me That only in season 3 (I hope, I pray), Lestat will appear in the present tense

a very interesting story, very ambiguous characters, but how do I not like that it all lies under a greasy layer of wordy pathos ... sometimes you have to rewind one remark to find meaning in this philosophy (and sometimes it is not found) …

I still can't get away from the series... It was very good! In general, thanks to the series, I became interested in books, and, God, I love how the creators of the series interpret the events from the book, the characters turn out to be so deep, so interesting
I was especially struck by Armand in this series, such deep emotions and feelings, on the one hand he is really frightening, on the other hand I felt so sorry for him. The cast is on top!

@galla2003: it really is! I wanted to write that I read the entire series of books and even individual books, for example, the whole story of Armand, the characters of the books in this series are very accurately reflected! Moreover, they are a little twisted to the best version of themselves, yes, very deep. Lestat is the best, reading a book about him, "Lestat" imagined him exactly like that. Reading your comments above, I just got high, as everyone sees this story in their own way, and everyone is right in their own way, the actors' play immerses them in their atmosphere, as a certain close participant in the events, just BRAVO!!!

It feels like Louis and Daniel have bonded over these fragments of memories. In general, a cool TV player, it's a story that Arman washed both their memories. It's immediately clear why Louis talks so much about Lestat, but at the same time he's been with Armand for 70+ years.

Interestingly, by the 70s, Lestat loves him, does not hate him for trying to kill and so on, so they have already decided the moments between themselves? Was there a meeting?

Maybe Lestat is taking revenge by sending recordings to a journalist so that Louis remembers him when working with him and realizes that Armand is actually holding him hostage in love?

In general, of course, in the 10-50s Louis did not suffer from suicidality and insanity, in the present he seems to be struggling with it all the time, and even since the 70s. Because of Armand? Claudia's loss?

The writers have outdone themselves in all the dialogues with Daniel and Louis in this episode. How does his journalistic streak give young Moll the opportunity to understand that Louis is in fact a serial killer and at the same time have time to understand that it is better to agree, but break this trust with the same streak by offering to become the new Lestat or Claudia, since he is still young and on drugs? Perfect. Funny. Tragic.
