In my opinion, the series is nice, but it's not about anything. It's just like a story from someone's life)
I haven't seen the story of the 81st year, but I didn't feel like watching it.
Maybe it could be one of those TV shows that you could watch during some difficult period of your life. But when I get one, I don't think I'll remember it.
The couples are gorgeous, and their relationship to each other is incredibly touching.
And well, Steve Carell's character died in a car accident again. 🥲
I didn't believe in the sudden benefits of Kate's husband on the ice. Well, OK, once it turned out to be useful. But he's a household invalid for 90% of their family life, and the funeral home alone is worth it. And they're good too, vultures profiting from people's grief.
The Italian literally suffocates her husband with his love, and in a couple more years he will not be able to stand it and will leave completely.
And Ann is really better off without Nick, considering that he has been unfaithful in his marriage many times. And I can't believe in their love with a young woman at all. It's a pity, of course, that he died, I wanted to see how he would regret everything and ask for it back.
I haven't watched the original movie, but if there are such dysfunctional couples there, then frankly, it's not "all marriages have problems," they're just incompatible people, that's all.
This shows that after marriage, you should not take your partner for granted and you should always work on the relationship. Not so romantic, but vital enough.
The conclusion here is that marriage is the work of two people on themselves and on relationships, it is the ability to listen and, most importantly, to hear each other.
The actors were well chosen and they played great. I'm waiting for the second season.

, I watched it in two evenings after a year and did not regret
it, they showed several really life situations/ problems that people who are in a long-term relationship will understand
I really liked the cast and the chemistry between them.
I was upset, of course, that Nick died, and Steve Carell won't appear in the new season (judging by the ending, he's clearly planned)
. The situation with Nick's funeral, especially with the urn, is a cringe, although I understand why it was done, but it's still a bit insulting for him
The raft twist surprised me at the end. It seemed to me that this was a one-season series, but now I really hope that the second season will be dropped after all.
. It's still interesting how they will continue to interact with each other under new circumstances.
I can't imagine what can be crammed into a new season in the format of 4 seasons. If you just skip 5 years between seasons so that the child grows up.
But they're what, 50 years old now, as I understand it (if they were only 40, they wouldn't feel so disconnected from Gini).
Such time jumps will be so-so.
In general, I liked the series. The series is for fans of calm storytelling.
Or should we conclude that he was deceiving himself? And as the woman wrote above, would he have returned to his wife in the next season?
For example, it seemed to me that Nick wasn't that happy in a new relationship, because it's always a job, not just flowers and hearts. The first couple of months don't count, by the way, because this is a classic candy-bouquet situation where you see only the best in your partner and involuntarily ignore everything else. I'm sure he and Ann had a stormy and incredibly happy first few months of their relationship, just like all lovers.
I think the most revealing thing was that in the last episode, Nick found himself playing games on an iPad, as he did with his former wife, Ann. Why was he doing this? Because games are a pretty easy way to get away from pressing problems, in this case it was the rejection of Ginny's friends and the unwillingness to step over their comfort for the sake of their beloved. What about Ann? I think games and a passive lifestyle also appeared for a reason, Nick changed Ann for the first time 18 years ago, and I'm sure they never talked about it normally, and it couldn't help but destroy her from the inside, and especially her self-esteem.
I'm not saying that Nick was unhappy with Ginny. Of course, that's not true, but he was definitely no happier than his friends. I also don't think he would have gone back to Ann. Relationships are about choice. And I think he still made his own when he went to the supermarket for vegan gluten-free food at the end of the last episode.
But it's as if you need to live in a marriage in order to fully pass this series through yourself. It's like he's more mature than me.
Even with all these melodies, it's like a special wall is being built.
The series is great and raises important topics! It does it in a rather original, modern and sometimes funny way. The actors did a good job and decorated the plot. But he is very ** adult** and it is logical that many people do not respond in any way, here you need to acquire at least some part of your life experience.
But everyone here has a lot to learn and something to think about. The most consistent thing is the inability/unwillingness to ** speak**. It just hurts to watch someone get twisted by their partner's actions, but they're accumulating dissatisfaction instead of talking.
For example, it's a shock to me that Carell's character just decided to get divorced. He's never talked about what's bothering him! He just hinted and waited for his wife to figure it out on her own. You gave 25 years of your life to this man, do you really want to just blow it all away in one fell swoop, because it seems that life has lost its colors. This is the most typical representation of a midlife crisis, and he seemed to have already realized that he was wrong, but the screenwriters got crazy and killed him.
I am glad that others were able to realize the value of their relationships.

They just didn't show it to us, maybe he said it more than once. It could have been either way.
The only thing that seemed slightly exaggerated was 30-year-olds who don't drink and are vegan/gluten-free, and no one knows how to ski. It seems that this is more about <25 stereotypes, in 30+ on the contrary, they tend to classify themselves as old people xD
I got the most pleasure from the style of Colman Domingo's character! I want his entire wardrobe for myself!
In general, I felt sorry for Ann for most of the series, because it was as if my friends had "chosen" Nick, and she was ignored even during shared trips. But the New Year was hers
The twist with death is certainly unexpected. I had a thought that maybe Nick would ask to come back, starting to play farm, like he realized something about his wife. But no. In general, it's not bad either.
I wonder what will happen next with the company and the child.
It's a pity that Nick was killed.
