Discussion: Season 1, Episode 6 Join the Discussion
371It was emotional! I really liked the way they decided to make the Shane's exit scene in front of his parents. My little kitten. Hudson, I love your Shane with all my soul.
I love this series for the micro-details, in this series it's touching my toes while talking on the couch, oh my!
The scenes of conversations with Hayden and Ilya at Shane's parents' house are a real treat. How good Connor is in comedy!
I DIDN'T GET ENOUGH of Shane's "I love you" in Russian. catastrophically.
I can't help but compare the ending to the book ending. Jacob said that he wrote scenes from the epilogue in the script, and even thought about including them, but after discussions with the creative director (and, as I understand it, after discussions about a possible second season), he decided to end like this ... there were some book moments missing, but the whole season still turned out to be very faithful to the original source, for which thanks to Jacob. I can't wait to review the whole season.
See you in 2027, friends
But seriously, this is a wonderful ending, very touching, I shed tears a couple of times. It was shot very tasty, every frame is just impossible to take your eyes off). special love to actress Yuna's mom (I love her from the TV series The Good Doctor), she's amazing
Thanks to everyone involved for this story, we look forward to the next season.
Why didn't Holland repeat "I love you" in Russian, I've been waiting so long 🥹
And in my opinion, it's good that they didn't make an epilogue - there are a lot of cool moments, like where Hayden finds out about them, we'll have a second season where, I hope, these scenes will be shown beautifully and fully, and not crumpled at the end of the season "just to cram"
I was a little confused at the beginning, how all the events jumped one after another in time, that you didn't have time to get into it, all the transitions were abrupt, everything seemed detached, and now all the scenes are long and slow, the transitions are smooth, and we linger on the details all the time, impersonal hotel rooms have been replaced by the comfort of private homes, intimate sex has been replaced intimacy and hugs, and everything became even more beautiful and sensual. Over time, you realize that all this is intentional and conscious, like with love, when it comes and smoothly colors the world around you.
these awkward moments among the parents: Ilya's attempt not to say out loud that he was fucking their son, after which the reaction was the understanding of the parents about the request to write before coming) - it turned out very tasty, there is no such thing in the book)
but thanks for the rest of the book moments: the conversation with Hayden, gagara (God, how I screamed at Ilya's reaction), the moment with Yuna and her obsession with loyalty to the team, and, of course, "your boyfriend")))
is the ending, in my opinion, a bit sped up/confused? there is no scene after they left their parents (and this is the whole chapter, I climbed in to see) and a scene with a speech about the foundation (and this is the epilogue), as well as, in principle, a more detailed discussion of what is between them and their parents (left for the beginning of season 2, as I understand it); if I correctly understood the original track(I even reviewed the moment on purpose, and realized that I understood it correctly) - for some reason, they inserted a piece from book 2 about a possible plan "B", but it was with the agent/Rose...
anyway, we're waiting for season 2 and rereading the books)))
Everything is good here, detailed analysis later, and that's not a fact!! Especially these impeccable "I love you" (Connor is a bunny and don't even say that you're not ours, "you're ours, Siberian"), a shared vibe and an outing scene THAT I LITERALLY FORGOT ABOUT, although I reread these chapters the day before
I haven't felt so good after watching it for a long time. I want to rejoice, love and do good.
uncovering the content factories, and see you in 2027, darlings!
first of all, what fucking parents Shane has. It's not just the parents, but the field of Green flags, I'm wildly delighted with these Persians. And they got some great actors. The experience is immediately visible. I sobbed and laughed all their communication, as soon as the guys crossed the threshold of their parents' house.
About confessions, plans for the future, and all that.. I can't talk yet, I have to get myself some IVs. It's at times like this that I understand why people are still fucking getting married. Probably like this...and such feelings, that's the only reason right now.
- In the summer before the rookie season
"God, you're not making it better."
It's not verbatim, but I laugh at it so much...
It's been a long time since I've been so moved by "cinema"...especially, let's say, a niche one.
My recommendations are also for revision. I found some books, I'll read them. I will try to live up to the 2nd season.
No, this fact itself is a small thing)
why and why do without it?
And apparently they didn't notice that for several episodes Ilya said: "if I'm a full throttle in a relationship, I won't be able to set foot in Russia, because I'm a public figure, a world-class athlete, captain of the mother country national team, and not a nouname who can do what he wants."
And that's the only reason he got a Russian passport. And if his career in the United States goes downhill because of the cuming-out, then he will have no reason to stay in the country. And the passport solves this problem.
, there wasn't enough spice, it turned out to be very sweet, and they quickly switched to such long-term plans for the future, recently only Ilya couldn't agree to anything, and then they painted almost their whole lives
and were surprised that Shane was freaking out from all this, Ilya was generally OK, he didn't even twitch much when they were caught by Shane's father.
Shane has a different story. He can mobilize and come up with a great plan, but then there will be a rollback to factory settings and panic.
It's like a Russian marrying a Greenlander whaler. In theory, it is possible to bring it here, but in our climate and without the North Sea, it will bend.
I indicated the context in which the phrase could be used.
Considering that his father is dead and he doesn't communicate with his brother, he keeps him a little bit.
Well honey, you can start reading the second book.
Definitely my 10/10
All in all, I haven't read a book. Therefore, I had no expectations, and there was nothing to compare it with. The series was interesting at the time of the announcement. And I didn't regret for a second that I started watching it. (Aggressively trying to get my friends hooked).
For me, it turned out to be an incredibly beautiful and passionate love story. I'm looking forward to season 2, I just have time to read the books :)
But I doubt that there is that same love*, because the series was made in the Russian Federation.
Now I just want to hear Ilyusha Rozanov confess his love to you in Russian, and not that's all..🥺
it is now to have to somehow live until the next season, listen to My moon my man and All the things she said)
I advise you to watch Looking, I also got a hard obsession from him at the time, and some scenes and moments reminded me of him.
PS, we had a mental rest at the cottage, and now we can go to Hawkins.
"Do you speak bird language now, too?"
- Fluently))))
russians didn't seem to be putting the squeeze on me a bit—well, I didn't have enough of at least one full-fledged scene from their sex marathon and "I love you" in Russian from Shane—but for just one scene of confession, I forgive everything and just rejoice that now we have this wonderful story and There will be a "long game" too
and how do you want the same coziness and comfort in life 💔
I really liked the whole scene with my parents, I was just starting to think that I wanted some kind of action, and then they show Bati's back. I'm so glad that my parents accepted them, Shane's conversation with my mom was touched by how he apologized, that he was the way he was, how she said not to apologize 😭😭😭 And mom is generally a cool woman, she immediately took up the PR company of their fireplace, it's worth listening to them. And they should also get the three of them together with Scott and finally discuss it all, ask him for advice on what to do, how he lives after the shutdown. I think it should definitely be easier for them than for him, since it won't be such a shock for people to see hockey players die.
this month was extremely beautiful, because this story certainly brightened it up. I can't imagine waiting another year to look at the Hollans' development after such a confession to each other and Shane's parents. but I'm sure that I'll be reviewing all the episodes all the time. In the meantime, I'll be watching Hudson and Connor and supporting them on other projects. I am sure that even more projects are waiting for them!
, but the last scene and credits are great, every interaction in the cottage is great, Connor is now an honorable Russian, and Hudson is just my new love.
No! Ilyia that's gross
Girls 😭😭😭
well, I love all sorts of things, about the fact that he told his parents that he was a boyfriend, kissed them, about the foundation, about how Ilya was embarrassed by Shane's parents, but at the same time supported his bf... as Ilya confessed and out of fright gave a backside, flirting about where you will sleep Ilya, guests are not allowed in my bedroom
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I love
I thought it was only that sex scene after the tuna boosters that I misunderstood, aaaaah, so many people are passing by, damn it
And she kept saying: Don't swear at me!!! You're on your honeymoon!!!!
I was so upset by the moment with Ilya's declaration of love before that, when Shane started talking about their future...And another conversation about Ilya's mom. It feels like Ilya needed to share it with someone.
And when Shane asked Ilya not to marry Svetlana, that they would come up with something...😭
I realized from the very beginning that they would be caught, as soon as I saw the completely glass house (that's why it was very difficult to relax and not think about it!)But I thought that they would be caught in some kind of light moment, like so that they could come up with a legend or hide Ilya, but the fact that their father caught them, and even in the moment of a kiss... I was afraid of the worst.
I really liked how Ilya calmed Shane down after his father left.
But parents are generally cool.☺️ Although at first they were suspicious of Ilya, but how can you not fall in love with this guy? Of course they quickly gave up!
And Ilya did not shy away in front of them, but quite calmly showed his intentions. By the way, it's a pity that they didn't show what she and Shane's dad talked about when they were alone. I liked their dynamics! I think Dad appreciated Ilya's straightforwardness😌
The ending turned out to be so warm...
by the way, I wouldn't even be upset if they didn't continue. I really like the open ending, without drama, on a calm note...I just noticed zen myself.
I'm so glad that we didn't overdo the drama, and the mini-format was perfect for this series!
I really hope that it will not turn into a conveyor belt, but will end at its peak, without sliding into a primitive melodrama.
. I'm thrilled with the series! I like that this is the case when you are completely focused on the series, without being distracted by anything. emotions are over the edge!
Scott and Kip seemed to be shown so haphazardly, and although I didn't really get into them, I understand why they were added... It even made me feel bad for them! But in the last episode at Scott's coming out, I genuinely sobbed and smiled like a fool!
I don't know who's complaining that Russians don't stand for phrases and don't speak like that... I want to rub their noses in "arrow" and Marvel. I am delighted with the Russian Ilya, probably the most flawless one that I have ever met!
in general, Ilya is a cat! And Shane, too. I like the different dynamics of the series and how not just relationships develop, but feelings! The girls in the series are generally the best, how they support the guys is just >>>>>
The tattoo song and the scene in the style of Isaac and Evan are definitely my favorite in the series!
I am very glad that Shane has such wonderful supportive parents (even though this coming out was ridiculously awkward and "why write? -we will write😒🫣"), who accept it in any way.
I feel a lot about this series and I'm looking forward to season 2 and maybe I'll start reading books.
Can someone explain to me the phenomenon of this series?
Well, with the representation of minorities with almost no cliches. I'm not talking about actors who would speak a foreign language, almost as if it were their native language, which would already make half of the audience fall in love with themselves.
Bed scenes without cringe vulgarity, spectacular and beautiful, are also rarely seen now. See only porn in them? Well, many have seen something more 🤷
Personally, I was hooked by only a few TV shows with good chemistry between the characters, and I love each one in its own way, but they don't stand next to life. It's a really phenomenal series, in my opinion.
Moreover...They say that art cannot be objective😉
TV series and movies in which chemistry just hits me like a wave are: "Red, white and Royal Blue", "Call me by your name", "Bed Friend", the recent "Avenged Love". But perhaps the budget and the fame of the actors are slightly different.
I am grateful for your opinion.
It's like a piece-by-piece, exclusive handmade product compared to conveyor stamping. Your criteria for evaluating a good movie or TV series are somehow completely shifted in the wrong direction. But comparing LC and KP is ridiculous, because KP is just the same meaningless and stupid porn that cannot be watched. No acting, no adequate plot, no character development, no motivation. Tin for the sake of tin, dumb humor.
Perhaps you are used to such an exaggerated, caricatured "game", but alas, this is not an indicator of a good "work". So, you shouldn't have tortured yourself if you wanted to watch ZhS just for the sake of bed scenes. This series has already shown after the first episode that it is something more.
Apparently, you tried to insult me by pointedly ignoring my assessment of "fast-paced", translating everything into the plane of reasoning about the primitiveness of Thai lacorns and the desire to watch bed scenes, but this in no way makes LC an example of the genre.
Look beyond Lacorna, there's definitely a non-fanfiction plot, and drama, and the greatest acting work, and the budget, and no porn. If you were offended by my assessment of KP, then alas, I can't do anything about it, because I just listed the facts that apparently still haunt you. I prefer not to discuss other people's tastes, but you left me no choice. Actually, I don't understand why you're bothering me.
You're already in a losing position, since you couldn't even resist jabbing at me, but you couldn't even come up with your own words.🥱
You would write a separate review and gather like-minded people, but as you yourself noted, this is not your topic, you don't understand. That's why it remains to cling to people who calmly discussed the series and dispersed.
You and your kind, by creating hype around a rather mediocre TV series, launch a flywheel to create similar "outstanding" creations and provoke even more aggressive haight of cave homophobes. We went through this with "genius" super and duper people in tight tights, who filled the entire rental. Well, if that's the goal, the flag is in your hands. Keep the tips on what to watch and do to yourself, they are not interesting to anyone. I'm not going to answer your fantasies anymore, I'm wasting my time. Moreover, the series is not worth it.
I hope it has become easier for you (and you will learn to read and analyze what you have written, and not fantasize about other people's assholes and other people's insults)
I wish you would no longer overpower yourself and not continue watching terrible TV shows, so that you would not suffer from attempts to understand their phenomenon (and also learn how to formulate your own thoughts in order to get a more coherent text).
"Tired of it"
At the same time, I didn't start it. But I will finish this flood.
In due time. The Eighth Sense has become the same outlet for me.
We wrote above about Normal people - the series is in the same direction. It's about life, but not the life outside the screen.
By the way, 2 TV series of the same name came to my mind, and I adore both "Sense8" by Lana Wachowski - I often remember season 1, how gorgeous it was...
And the Korean "Eighth Sense", also a wonderful series with young actors, beautifully and atypically made for Korea, just because There was a collaboration with a foreign director. He also surprised me very pleasantly at the time.
well, fuck it, I cry
I don't know what kind of magic the creators of this series use. From the first minutes of the episode, I'm drawn in and won't let go until the very credits, and this despite the fact that I'm not the most emotional person. With a reasonable eye, I don't see the deepest book foundation, dubious dialogues, improbable fanfic emotions of the characters, cranberry Russia ...
But how I hide from this series, I already know that I will review (and reread)
Not anymore
Just thank you for a great end to the year. In the midst of all the madness around, see it and breathe.
It's been a long time since there have been queer series of this level.
The directors, the scriptwriters, the director, and the guys, of course, did their best and didn't lose. That's how you come to a low-budget movie, make a low-budget movie, with high quality, putting your soul into it, perhaps not hoping for great success - and you get a bomb, realizing how hungry the audience is for real and human, for unsweetened but strong happy endings.
All these subtle nuances, parallels, light, sound, the right accents, elegance and of course the game is the perfect mix.
Great balance of sex and feelings. At first there was sex, years passed, then the focus shifted to conversations and feelings and time slowed down, the last episode is perfectly balanced in terms of sensual and sexual moments - all this became parts of their happy life together.
I would also like to point out. When Shane cries, it's touching, hot, and desperate out of desire. When Ilya cries, it breaks my heart, it's out of pain and guilt, and from the seemingly impossible thing that happened - that someone really wants to be with him and love him just for who he is.
It's good that they have a common cause, and a common future, and such a wonderful present. I really wanted a little love, and we got it, a wonderful New Year's gift.
I'm happy for the guys that their careers are going to take off now, and I'm amazed by their talent. I came to the series without expectations, as a result, I entered the rare favorite things that are being reviewed.
"I'm sorry for making you feel like you couldn't tell me. I'm so proud of you, please forgive me."
It's so important and so intensely personal inside.
Not everyone is so lucky in life. Therefore, thank you for the example of adequate parenting, and my soul rejoices that they will continue to love Ilya as their son.
I was living quietly in my familiar and understandable routine, and then some Canadians made a TV series about "gay hockey players," and now I want the same chemistry/attraction/desire, I want my boss to be blown away. Well, what the fuck. How do I get back into my life now?
, and of course, Pashenka Chekhov!
the scene with the shoes under the table as a reference to the press conference... Rush.
Yes, everything is high, love is total.
I want a series with them not for 6 episodes per season, but for 26.
When Ilya whispered in Russian, "I love you," tears involuntarily began to flow and I couldn't stop them.
There are only 6 episodes, but I was so inspired by their story. The actors are incredible, they were able to convey all the feelings very well.: desire, despair, fear, acceptance, love. And Connor Storri's Russian just killed him.
It was the same with KBKS, although there are many more digressions. But I watched the movie, read the novel, and it complemented the visual well, without conflict.
Pleasant light novels to distract.
What about the Russian translations? Is it legible? Or is it clumsy?
In general, it's really rare now to find stories where there is so much acceptance in such a difficult relationship, thank you, my heart felt warm.
The guys are just the best.
How I got into this story. How to live up to season 2 now?
For those who haven't read it yet, I highly recommend both books about Ilya and Shane, "Fierce Rivalry" and "The Long Game." Yes, and the whole series is possible) Fortunately, they are in excellent translation from Alex_Nero, and also freely available. I haven't seen such high-quality translations for a long time!
They are beautiful.
I'm looking forward to the 2nd season of The Long Game.
And without any extra glass.
Everyone is cute, wonderful and very hot in places!
Perfect!)))
That's how fucking close everything is to the text. Minus the story of Hunter and Svetlana, it's just like that. Was it possible?
Although that would suck in the Vampire Diaries. But it was possible to take down the Witcher, wasn't it? And not to make up a scenario fuck.
In short, respect to moviemakers.
- Same here. Only one.
Well, that's it, I'm done. And the confession is in Russian! And in English! And "ur boyfriend"!!!
I couldn't breathe, I forgot how to breathe! These are such important moments and such.. such....❤️
I do not know how to live without this series, it is already literally a part of me.
It's time to read books, the time has come, we need to pass the time of separation.🤝
This is love.
You have read the first 3 lines of the comment and made a conclusion.
In no way am I saying that the series is bad or that you shouldn't like it. I was genuinely interested in what became the magic button for you personally.
After all the comments, I realized that I was looking for "outstanding cinema" in him, but his strength lay elsewhere. It gives you pure, strong emotions and a perfect escape. He creates an intense, exciting world that you want to believe in. And in this, he certainly succeeded 100% and earned his love.
Now I see that his genius is that he found his audience and gave them exactly what they needed. Thank you for your points of view!
The guys just gave me a fountain of emotions and went on to live their lives. What do we do every Friday? 😭
From the point of view of living in Russia, we see a happy ending, but at least one English-speaking book blogger openly said that this was not a happy ending.
Then he couldn't get out. It took 1.5 years (according to the series, if I counted it correctly, because I skipped 1 book about Hunter and Kip and started reading about Ilyukha)
I've read everything, my first favorite.
I've read 2 books about Ilyukha so far. I'll get back to Hunter later.
But not in this case!
The series is really amazing: a well-balanced balance between parts of fast and slow plot development, emotional and touching, with a non-linear timeline, with excellent subplots of some minor characters and with talented actors whom you trust.
Even the Russian language of actor Ilya, although obviously not the language of someone who grew up in a predominantly Russian-speaking environment, made me think for half the series that this actor was the son of Russian-speaking immigrants or something like that. But no! He learned it specifically and exclusively for this role, admirably. Even if he was just repeating memorized lines and didn't really understand what he was saying.
Plus, I have a rather negative attitude towards a lot of modern TV series promoting "liberal values" (even though I adhere to them myself), because it's often done VERY CLUMSILY.
And here, absolutely the right things are served very elegantly.
I immediately remembered the series The Eighth Sense, which, although it is a reflection of radical left-wing views in the spirit of "all good against all bad," is made so expertly that it does not repel at all, but, on the contrary, attracts.
Thanks to the author of the book, the creators of the series, the actors, and we are waiting for the second season (with a level not lower than the set bar)!
This is the first time in the last 10 years after the Strela series, where the chemistry of the main characters captured me and I reviewed the moments and episodes and started reading the book in English! This is love 🥰
Storming the books now, while waiting in 2027
I read the first one on Saturday. The second one lasted for 2 days. Few.
I'm trying my best not to start discussing
I think I was crying almost non-stop from the middle to the end.
It seems to me that it is necessary to insert a warning about this before the series)
My beautiful boys, they deserve to be happy. 🥹
I want to continue watching something like this based on emotions.
I want to fall asleep and wake up to Ilyusha's "I love you" 🥹 ear delight
After watching this creation, I have one key question - are people massively crazy? The plot is the most banal to the point of impossibility, starring two noname actors who play very mediocre, the dialogues are stamp on stamp, often just dumb and about nothing. I think the Transition age is also very overrated, but at least the kid in the lead role played it hard and it's hard to deny.
It's clear that the show is low-budget, hence the lousy camera work, as if it's somewhere in the early 2000s. They couldn't even pay for the use of copyrights to the NHL brand, so they invented some kind of fabulous hockey league and distorted the names of classic teams from Boston, Montreal, and New York. Anyone who follows the sport will understand.
In terms of drama, it doesn't catch on in any way, I'm sorry that they didn't touch the sexual problems of dollar millionaires. And this, mixed with empty dialogues, they try to cover with explicit scenes, which are in abundance. Well done, of course, but why should I be impressed? There's a 9 1/2-week movie where a lot is also built on intimate scenes, and it's much more enjoyable to watch a young Kim Basinger (at least for most people), but for some reason it has a rating of 5.9 on IMDB, not above 9. Apparently, because there's practically nothing behind the outrage and frankness, like and in this series.
In general, I would not have said a word if this series had a rating around 7.5, but here I am looking at a solid delight, rating on IMDB 9.2, on Kinopoisk 8.8. On maishous 4.63, one episode has a rating higher than 4.9 with a decent number of ratings by the standards of the resource. Even the top episodes of Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad don't have that. It seems that people have been massively treated with some kind of virus, as in the one that just ended, and everyone is giving this mediocrity the highest score, spreading the imposed hype around an empty series.
It's just that people don't have very high expectations by the end of 2025, and this movie has become a way out of their heads.
In theory, the release time of the series may play a role, but this does not affect the rating globally. and it will rather affect the number of views, if there are no competitors, then there will be more of them. This series specifically ran and ended around the same time as many of them, so I don't quite agree that it occupied an empty niche.
Of course, it's not 9.2 even close. For some similar series, Euphoria, Sex Education, and Transition age are also rated somewhat too high (especially on IMDB), but not dramatically, and all of them are better than a Heated Rivalry for me personally.
Media people know how to create HYPE out of nothing when needed. In the cinema, for example, this year, Battle after battle, as for me, received undeservedly a lot of attention and too high ratings (fortunately, the rating is already sinking and this film is at least not in the top 250 IMDB). Another thing is that the masses are not always driven by such hype, but a heated rivalry is exactly the case when they fell for it, which surprised me greatly.
You're wrong, I'm nowhere at all, and I just happened to see the discussion here, went to watch the series and got caught up, I'm reading books now, and despite the stupid writing and far-fetched conflicts/problems, I'll probably even reread them.
In my case, it's escapism, of course.
And here the rating will settle down even more, but this will not make the series any worse.
Exotic?
For example, I would love to know why they love Very strange things, even my friends couldn't explain it to me, so they said something about the atmosphere). But this is the second person here, either a statistical error or a magnet for rage (I hope I use it correctly))))
For me personally, everything is bad here, except for the excellent PR team. I hope these guys will be noticed.
But I've long since come to terms with the fact that I often don't get into this unknown stream. I looked with the same wild eyes at the fanaticism around the Squid Game, for example, or at the popularity of the "Out of many" you mentioned.
In defense, I can only say that the series clearly makes people a little happier, and that's good, people need it now. My close friend, for example, loved this series very much, but even she said that you should watch it with your head turned off and without analyzing anything. So let's leave this series to them, and let's go look for something that will make us as happy already)
And fuck you, a straight guy showed up to watch slash porn? No one came here to watch this series for the sake of dialogue, everyone just looks at the beautiful male actors, or they just like stories about queer couples.
I don't want to talk about the rest and try to convince you of something. I just want to answer your question, why such ratings and such delight, for example, on my part.
It's an emotion and an absolutely incredible experience. I'm an almost thirty-year-old straight girl who either forgot or maybe didn't even know such emotions. To sum up your words about the "banal plot, simple dialogues and mediocre actors," so be it. But does all this matter when you, who have long been emotionally bottled up and ossified, begin to hatch butterflies in your stomach? When do you want a love that will blow your head off? When do you want to look at someone with the same hungry eyes and be looked at the same way in return? I do not know how, but the series just works, and it resonated with a large audience, albeit predominantly female.
And I'm not talking about the sex scenes right now, even though they look great. And about those languid glances, kisses on the stairs, touching fingers. All this is filmed so tenderly that it heals the heart and makes you a little happier.
Maybe you just didn't get a response. And that's okay.
"either I forgot, or maybe I didn't know such emotions" - I would still understand this if you had watched no more than 5 TV series and movies in your entire life, but judging by your profile, you highlighted quite a lot, so it's a mystery to me where such praise of mediocre stamping with a bunch of cliches comes from. Well, take a look or review (if you've seen it) Pride and prejudice, a Memory diary, and even the Titanic and the like are much more catchy in terms of emotions and a couple with a traditional orientation, too.
With the sex scenes here, it's clearly overkill and "they look great" is a very evaluative and controversial judgment, especially if you're a straight girl. 50 shades of Grey or the 9 1/2 weeks I mentioned are also largely based on intimate scenes, but they don't have a rating above 9 like here, the PR people did a bad job. I would have passed by and not even written anything about this series if it had a rating of at least 8, but there is some kind of mass insanity with exposing this craft to almost the cult level of Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, the average rating of episodes in the region of 4.9 here and 9.9 on IMDB is for me in general beyond comprehension.
I didn't get a response, and that's fine, but not a small number of people didn't either, and they're confused by such enthusiasm, otherwise the comment above would have had a double-digit number of disadvantages. It's just that not everyone writes their opinion here, but I wanted to dilute the flurry of admiration.
How and to what extent anyone/what catches on and should catch on is highly subjective and almost never defies logic.
About sex scenes. It also seemed to me on episode 1 that I was watching erotica with a drop of plot, but when I watched the series in full, it became clear to me why it was built that way. Because their relationship was based on sex and lust, and they were actively shown. But the closer they got to each other, the less they showed sex. Not because there was less of it, but because it was receding into the background. And I can say "looks great" as a straight girl, because I calmly watched all the sex scenes. I wasn't uncomfortable, I wasn't embarrassed, I wasn't ashamed. Everything was shot beautifully, sensually, emotionally. There's passion in her eyes, tenderness in her touch. There is no porn filth and obscenity.
I don't understand how you can compare crime drama, fantasy, and romantic drama in terms of ratings.
I'm not saying that everyone should come in. But it's worth considering that this is still a series about homosexual relationships against the background of hypermasculine sports, which a priori will cause a lot of controversy, especially in our CIS segment. So the rating will drop over time, don't worry.
According to the rating, you can compare anything from different genres, and that's why it's a rating that, based on votes, determines the overall rating and place of the series in the industry in a historical context. For example, Friends, Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad are different genres, but in general, all these projects are super-top and iconic. But the heated rivalry doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same row with them, although the rating is still at the level of these shows, especially the ratings of individual episodes are striking, as if their names will become iconic and household names like Ozymandias or Battle of the Bastards.
But it's a good thing that the parents were treated without unnecessary drama. We are waiting for the new season.
In fact, it's very cool, it's the most important thing when you are accepted and loved by your loved ones!
I was just a little upset that the series seemed to be written as a fanfiction, I felt like a teenager)
I've only watched a series a second time in my life. These were the "Misfits".
But obviously, I will watch "Rivalry" a million more times) Everything is perfect here. The plot, the amazing picture, the actors and their chemistry, the meaning that is embedded in the whole story.
Each episode is a masterpiece.
There are so many amazing moments in this one. Shane's conversation with my mom almost brought me to tears. And the whole scene of the confession to the parents was gorgeous.
Incredible 🤍
And when Ilya immediately agreed to the idea of being honest, it was his "I will try" instead of just a thousand words.....
And the jealous Ilya, when Rose texted Shane, what a cutie! I can't get off him!
And these heart-to-heart conversations about the most painful, at the same time diluted with humor about the wolf bird, well, just the perfect combination!
Then a conversation about marrying Svetlana, again to the point of tears. Ilya keeps his promise and tries to be honest and talk about feelings! And at the same time, all this time, their feet were touching, well, what a charm 🥺
And when I was already on the verge, they finished off the plan for the future. Ilyushka was so moved by Shane's serious intentions that he burst into tears, and I joined him! Ilya, marry Shayna, not Svetlana, so you'll get citizenship too.
And when he said "I love you" in Russian, I just screamed out loud! But then he repeated it in
English, and that's it, take me to the nuthouse. I can't stand these two!
And then Ilyusha said that his mom would love Shane, just like he loves him... well, what is it. Do you want me to have a heart attack before the end of the season?!
When their dad caught them, I almost caught him, to be honest! But it wasn't as scary as I feared!
But the moment that made me laugh:
“This is Ilya. Romanov. But you already know that.
Hi.
He is visiting and we are…
Lovers.
No, Ilya, that’s gross”
Especially how humbly Ilyusha removed his hand from his shoulder 🤣🤣🤣
It was probably the most enjoyable cuming-out scene in front of my family that I've ever seen! And honestly, I'm even amazed at how easily Ilya got in touch and agreed to everything. Although considering how many years their relationship lasted, even if not officially, it makes sense! And most importantly, I really felt that from simple sex between these two, everything turned into true love!
And now someone writes that they didn't have enough sex, but as for me, everything was perfectly shown! After all, true love is no longer about sex, but about intimacy, and this intimacy has been excellently shown to us! Bravo,
And anyway, I'm so grateful to myself that I waited for the release of all the episodes and decided to start 2026 with it — it was the best decision!
Such projects help me not to let go of my hands. Every episode was cool, I'm looking forward to the second season and I hope the lack of dubbing will not prevent the series from gaining popularity in Russia.
Very well made for amateurs
About the finale. Too positive and even a little sugary (everything stuck together for me). I don't know what's in those books of yours, but for a high-rated series, you need drama for the finale, you need a fucked-up cunt. What's going on here? We confessed, hugged, cried, forgave, bonded, and separated.. Meh
, this shouldn't be the end of a series going into its second season.
small budget is - how much is it?
like I went back 9 years ago, I'm 16 again and I'm in love.
The only negative is that all 6 episodes flew by like a flash.
We need to come to our senses a little bit and review it in a week or two)
I've noticed the wildest hyperfix on this series. Once again, I thanked myself that I had learned English at the time and therefore was able to watch the series in the original, and now I'm waiting for books from Ozon and at the end of January I'll be reading as if I'm 15 again and I'm reading The Twilight Saga in one gulp.
I've watched the series 5 times in a week now, and some episodes more. My entire Instagram feed is full of Connor and Hudson, and I'm fine with that.
Thank you Canada, thank you Jacob Tierney, thank you wonderful Connor and Hudson, you saved 2025 and started my 2026 with a thrill.
Wolf Parade's "I Believe in Anything", Cailin Russo's "Bad Things" and Feist's "My Moon, My Man" are firmly embedded in the headphones.
I walk and smile.
The kids are so stuck in my heart that I can't live without them anymore..
I'm just madly looking forward to the second season and hope that they will stick to the plot as well as in this one. Definitely one of my favorite TV shows now, I just like that the guys are doing well, I think that's what got me hooked.
In general, Everything is just fine, thanks for asking ;) also in French..
- How many times have you watched the series?
- yes!
The guys are handsome, I wish there were more such kind and helpful people. We are waiting for the second season
As long as they don't spoil the narrative, otherwise the girls won't be able to forgive the scriptwriters that Ilya and Shane broke up in the second season, only to eventually reunite in the third)))
I was really excited.
Oh my God, please call the fire department! I'm going to burn!❤️🔥
That's the case when you're a serial fan with a decent amount of experience and, including the next pilot of a new series, you're talking about yourself: "Come on, surprise me"...😎
And then a magic happens that hasn't let go for days! The season has been watched non-stop several times - it was amazing from the very first frame to the last!❤️ All my social media feeds. The networks are all Shane and Ilya. And I do not know how to stop it. Although, why am I doing this?! Let's have more! I won't even resist. After all, I have books ahead of me, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about this sensual story.❤️🩹
Thanks to Ilya and Shane - they literally burst in and stirred up just everything inside! And yes, we'll probably stay at the cottage for a very long time!
- Come on. About what?
- about hockey players.....
it was great <3
we are waiting for the second season!!!
Bitch. I'm just being bullied.
I wanted to get away from HR– well, as much as you can stick, you need to move on.
I started watching season 2 of Maxton Hall and there's a spoiler
the main character (curly-haired blonde), who lost his mother and was oppressed by his father, came to his girlfriend, her parents cooked dinner and they sit, eat spaghetti and discuss plans to preserve the relationship..
"So, fuck!" I said. I turned off the series. I think: "I've been wanting to watch The Good Doctor for a long time. What could possibly go wrong? The topic is as far away as possible." Who appears in the series? That's right, the actress playing Yuna is Shane's mother 🤣🤣🤣
Usually, this kind of series doesn't bother me, but this one was definitely an exception. What can we say about the actors who coped with their roles one hundred percent.
I'm waiting for the continuation :)
I love how, at the end of the season, Ilya started showing feelings himself, talking about them, saying at the end that he was Shane's boyfriend, "it's so fucking awesome, God, I just melted" when I heard "they're such a super-duper couple, such energy, power."
We see new nuances from the next viewing, then he touches his cross, then he changes his look, thanks Tierney.
Overall, it's a watchable series, very similar to fanfiction (I know it's based on a book)
It looks super easy and there are too many 18+ scenes.
Things are moving fast, there's not enough hockey 🏒
That would be great
At the moment of the confession, tears flowed freely💔
Episode 1: 😳 What the fuck?
Episode 2: 🥴 okay, let's say
Episode 3: who are these people and where are my things?
Episode 4: 😰
Episode 5: 😍 We're all going to the cottage!
Episode 6: 🫠
