The first impression is rather negative. Yes, there is a charm, but everything is kind of cardboard, strained, disharmonious. All the characters look costumed and don't fit into their own images. It may be possible to get used to it over time, but in the first episode, the low professionalism of the entire team of the series, including actors, screenwriters, decorators, etc., is very striking.

But what spoils the impression the most is the selection of an actress for the main role. Not only does she look nothing like a teenager, but she also looks noticeably older than Witherspoon was in the movies (although they were both 25 at the time of filming).
