The CB has a real noir atmosphere, in color - it seemed that the picture was somehow theatrical. But people, clothes and interiors look very beautiful in color. In CB, the eye falls less on details, more on emotions and texture.
The atmosphere is completely different, there are bright colors in a retro style, and this is definitely not a "spider noir", but rather a "spider vintage disco" with a vibe of clips from the 60s. Both look good, but they are perceived very differently.
Fights look better in black and white, because the color is a little 'comical' to perceive that everything is so bright around and a black spider-man is jumping (this was very noticeable in the second episode during a car chase in the middle of the day)

From the moment I found out that there would be a series about Spider-Man, where Nicolas Cage would take on this role, I lived and live with a misunderstanding of what I would see when I turn on the series. What Cage's spider will look like.
I'm 30. I know three spiders: Maguire, Garfield and Holland, and Spider-Man from the animated series. And they are all incredibly strong, nimble, in excellent physical shape. And Cage... Well, it's Cage. He's a simple guy who can't be expected to jump and perform tricks there, or even act out the physical tricks of a spider.
Then what will the final product look like in the end?

It looks very good in color, the colors are saturated, the contrast is visually advantageous, the camera work looks parodic in some places, but considering the nature of at least the first episode, everything is not bad.
The most important thing is that it's not just classic noir, there's nothing particularly gloomy, heavy, or pessimistic about it, it's more like a parody, a modern look, and at the same time a cargo attempt to copy and adapt.
In terms of the comedic tone, dialogues and overall mood, the first episode resembles the noir-parody series of some old cartoons about Mickey Mouse, Looney Tunes, all this.
The production is very good, especially in the action, its impetuosity, comedy, camera turns, it feels like they weren't trying to show the usual noir, but rather to do something in between, and it turned out well.
From this point of view, taking Cage on the lead role is very good, and Gleason as the main character, who plays both funny and somewhat serious, is also on the topic.
Overall, the first episode is probably yes, although I can't say that I'm thrilled with all these postmodern twists, but okay.
That's why I wrote that you have a strange torrent. I don't like excessive brightness myself.
However, if the series had been released only in the b/w version, I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten to it until a few years later (if at all). No matter how well it was done, my brain is repelled by the dullness, I would rather suffer than enjoy the series. As much as I've wanted to watch the same Ripley, I can't bring myself to watch it for years. And I'm not the only one, believe me (although there are fewer of us than fans of pure noir).
Therefore, I am eternally grateful to the creators of this project that they released both versions, and I was able to enjoy and appreciate the excellent series without internal struggle, without being distracted by “personal demons” 🤗
A brief impression of the series: to film for fans.
