A children's series, or a family one, as it is fashionable to say now. It's very safe and predictable. The plot itself is in the spirit of "the most important monster is not a monster at all, but a man" and according to the classics "they lived happily ever after."
If you dig deeper, then the series is about accepting the inevitable. And that it is worth appreciating the allotted time.

The ending was sweetened. The sudden resurrection of Shaw, who somehow magically got to the cave, was unnecessary and everything ended fine without it.

Actually, when I read the synopsis, I thought there would be a local alien invasion and the pennies would fight it off)

In general, the series is for one time. Duffers, do your best) Molina and the actress on Rene topchiki) And Arthur was amused)

@Paramelion: I confirm: an excellent “children's” and “family” series. Drug use, promiscuous relationships, cheating, scenes of gerontophilia — everything is in place. Feel free to include the whole family: children, parents, grandmother — everyone will be delighted.

This series made me think about a lot of things... I would really like there to be no diseases and people not to suffer. For a moment, I felt very sorry for Wally. He wanted to cure his serious illness. But, of course, it would be wrong to do this at the expense of the suffering of others.

Anyway, I hope his mother cured him for sure.

I liked the old people — colorful, pleasant, their "gray uprising"

Even the "main evil", the mother, appeared in the image of a kind old woman.

And so, a fairy tale for one evening, viewing on the background

Well, the Duffer brothers made a retirement version of the OSD with aliens and an elderly Dr. Otto Octavius. But on the whole, I personally found it no less interesting to watch than the same overpurposed Pluribus. The scale here is smaller, the series itself is simpler and more compact, but it kills time quite well).

@Katenka: By the way, yes, it was never explained. The only thing that is known is that the mother was found in the same cave. Perhaps the mother is a mutated "something" that ate this fruit and therefore her blood began to possess the properties of this "peach".

Well then. Passable, not weak, but not particularly interesting.
A strange move with the mother at the end: dying, she killed her children too.
The origin was left for the second season. They'll probably extend it.

It's a pity, of course, that they didn't explain anything about the origin of the mother, apparently leaving the details for a possible second season, which is not really needed here. the story is quite complete. well, a working boarding house, after the sudden disappearance of its head along with his wife and the flight of part of the leadership, as if there were no questions.

I liked the series, it looks easy, the plot is simple. Although they did not explain the origin of the creatures and a couple more moments, but this was clearly left for continuation, this is also hinted at at the end of the series by glitch in Sam's mirror.
I hope the Duffers won't milk all the juices out of this series, as with very strange cases, because the story feels complete right now, even without all the answers.

I think the glitch was shown to make it clear that there will be a second season and the story is not finished. Most likely, the glitch is caused by the fact that Sam was at the epicenter of the explosion from his Mother, and this somehow affected him.

The Duffers' name did its job, I was waiting for the release of this series, if it hadn't been for them, I would have passed by. It turned out, as I originally thought, such a retirement version of the OSD, it was necessary to name this town Hawkins, a funny reference would have turned out.
I liked the characters of Rene and Wally the most.
In general, the series turned out to be not bad, the beginning was rather protracted, there was not enough monstrosity, and in general, there was some scale of danger in the course of the narrative. But at the same time, I liked that they showed me living in this city, golf, swimming pool, entertainment, gatherings, and not just making plans, building traps, and escaping.
All the mysteries of who was behind all this and what he wanted were solved pretty quickly, but it was immediately clear who would be involved in this whole gang-watering can. The thing that bothered me was that they forgot to tell me about the peach. I'm glad that the finale turned out to be over!

It's a cool series: everything is decorous and noble, but the topic of senile sex is a little annoying. Thank God, seventy—year-old Geena Davis wasn't shown naked - that would have been a screamer. The locations seem to have been taken from Pluribus, but it's unclear why.

Yes, I agree with the general opinion - the series is unexpectedly cute. I watched it to the end with pleasure. Geena Davis is amazing! And yes, a second season would be nice. Many interesting questions remain. For example, why did Sam's mother send greetings and thanks through a vision with his wife? Maybe she and the children didn't die at all, but teleported to their planet? Agree, that would be fair!

@AstaMD: Oh, stop talking nonsense about overpopulation, saying that if people live forever, then there will be a lot of problems. I'm sorry to be harsh, but people live very little. Some fucking turtles, sharks, for example, live for 200 years. And a person, despite the fact that his life is much more diverse, does not have time to really see it in all its glory — as it is time to die. Illness and death itself are evils that must be fought with all our might. Unfortunately, only Wally had the brains to figure that out. But you can't go against the herd.

@ИнтeрecныйФиллep: I consider the argument "gpt told me so" to be a sign of an incredibly weak mind, but still there is a grain of truth there. Do you know the joke about "eating cabbage rolls on average"? Well, a lot of people die in childhood, a lot of people die in combat skirmishes. If 30 is the average age of death (it's not such an honorable old man anymore), then for every 5-year-old who dies, there is one 55-year-old.
@izkrys: My friend, I perfectly understand about averages, child mortality, and cabbage rolls too)

The point of my joke was different: in the Stone Age, living to 30 was already considered a serious achievement, but now the average life expectancy is ~ 57-60+ years — we have already doubled that age.

I was just joking that over time, 200 years may also become the usual "average" age. Don't dig the joke so seriously)

I still haven't figured out what the peach that appeared on the tree has to do with it, why it acts the same way as the blood of that creature, and why it doesn't work anymore. Also, when the creature's blood was "blown up" at the end of the second episode and a "map" appeared after the explosion, it seemed to me that it was also not beaten in any way.

I agree with most of the comments - the series is light, sweet, and very comfortable. Vibami recalled the first seasons of the newscool "Doctor Who" only without the Doctor. The music is awesome. I was waiting for strangers, but I think it was left for the second season - it was not for nothing that the card was programmed in the blood and maybe Sam will help random guests (or relatives of his Mother) further. The actors are all great, everyone except Dennis O'Hare (he's about 65) is in his seventies, and they look just magical. It doesn't matter if cosmetology did its best or if there was something heavier, but young people are losing out in terms of beauty (and acting talents).
In general, I watched it with great pleasure, in one gulp, due to the small number of episodes, the plot did not let go until the end. I'll definitely review it again over time.

And he found the record anyway)
"A hero will sacrifice a loved one to save the world, and a villain will sacrifice the world to save a loved one."
I expected a more lyrical ending for "villains". It would be beautiful if they hugged each other and grew old. But. The villain says that we do not understand who the Mother is and what she is capable of. For her, time is a lake, not a river. That is, perhaps she could have rewound and saved his wife.
Glitch at the end, it's like the main character has died and everyone else is seeing a vision from their Mother. But I think if there is a second season, it will be explained in some other way. Maybe he got his mother's powers during the explosion. Actually, I expected there to be an egg under the tree. Like she's restarted the cycle of her life.
I predicted the plot on the first episode, when they showed the owner of a retirement town. But the characters are pleasing. They're also pretty quick-witted and not dumb. It's just very strange why the series was advertised as about aliens, although this is not mentioned in the series even once. Maybe they're not aliens after all.

@Vladimirershov: In episode 3, Wally examined blood with a hammer and found out that it contains right-handed amino acids, whereas on Earth, living organisms have left-handed ones, after that he stated that it was not a wild animal without fur. Therefore, it turns out that these mutant spiders are not native.

Very strange things with old people. But there are also some old people who are not quite old, it's not completely clear why they were handed over, even if they showed how they were acting crazy without supervision.

If his mother's blood solved the problem of a deep wound + a return to life so easily and quickly, then Wally, who was still "on duty", had knocked over several cups, and even more so was cured of all his terrible sores. Yes, they are still old, but they are much healthier than before after all the events they have experienced.

I wonder why Sam was framed in the reflection, and where the mother with the tree came from, but still not so much that the second season was filmed. It's like he's not needed.

A light, rather interesting series.
In the end, I was waiting right up to the last moment (especially after the hologram) that Sam was still in the cave and was in some kind of Limbo, and in the end they would somehow show it to us. Well, a universal happy ending will do too))

I liked the series as a whole, largely because of the cast. I think it ended well and can either remain an independent story or continue.

It also seemed to me that there were references to their past roles. Geena Davis has a convertible (Thelma and Louise), Alfred Molina has that golden artifact in Edward's warehouse (Indiana Jones), Bill Pullman has a remark about "welcome wagon" (Independence Day). And there were probably others.

By the way, the only thing I regret is that Bill Pullman's character didn't last as long as I would have liked.

I liked the series. He seems so kind and naive, but in some moments he was very touched, even sad. Thank you for finishing beautifully, without leaving an open ending.
And let's make our own version of a Cocoon with vibes of Very strange things — the Duffer brothers decided, and Barrows produced. And they also added a pinch of Beauty and Bubba Ho-Tepa.

The series is light, sincere, humorous and suspenseful, the actors are pleasant, it was interesting to watch. I'm not waiting for the second season, I consider the story to be fully told. Riddles like what kind of creatures they were, how they came to know that the blood of the Mother rejuvenates — let them remain a mystery, as well as for the main characters of the series.

PS. It was terribly infuriating how in some scenes the hero sees something shocking, but it's not immediately shown to us, like an intrigue. But such "tricks" began to be thrown up, because they were repeated in almost every episode.
