@Alexander_36: it's the narrative itself, it's an interesting book, because there's a finale
, I pay a lot of attention to the thoughts of the characters, but there may be few chapters where almost nothing happens, dialogues, and then events suddenly unfold, it becomes interesting, and you're blown away by what's happening. Definitely worth it. It's a bit like separation. It's also terribly boring at first, you fall asleep, the main thing is to wait out a couple of episodes, and then you stick to the screen.

@hellena_sama: The backstory is needed in order to introduce the characters who will eventually be the main ones at the end. The backstory reveals the characters, shows their character and thinking, so that it would be clear why they would eventually make certain decisions later, but it's slow. They show individual moments, the fundamental ones from which the history of bunkers began, and you need to know them in order to understand why they were created and for what purpose. No need to wait for the action in the series, which in fact belongs to psychological fiction. This series of books, and the series itself, are not based on action, but on showing how society has been living in a confined space for centuries, and how a small spark of hope and interest can ignite the flames of rebellion.. These books are about how a bunch of people thought they could retrain people, make them compliant and manageable, but eventually realized it wasn't possible. Because there will always be someone who asks a little more than necessary))) And by the way, in the second part of the book, many answers and characteristics were given to at least one person - psychiatrist Victor))) It was the episodes with the psychiatrist that immediately answered the question of why the bunkers were created, even wrongly, in these episodes they showed the logic of thinking of the person who created the concept of bunkers and the charter. )) The main thing to remember about this moment is where is the thread at the end of the season when everyone will be asking this question)))

God forbid the storyline with amnesia will not be a flop.

For most of the series, they remind you who's who.
The line of modernity is really interesting.
Nothing is really clear about the Shelter yet.

Don't you wonder how someone who doesn't remember anything could be appointed MAYOR?!
I'm more than sure, in any society, she would have said something like "you're a heroine, while you recover, and as soon as you remember everything, we'll make you mayor."

@Ov3rfl0w: there is a puppet (when it is controlled COVERTLY) and here is a variant of the English monarchy where other people actually rule. And the question is are people really idiots? It's a good start — there are quite a lot of storylines, it's a pity they will be raked out once a week.

In my opinion, it is quite logical that she, as the ideological leader who saved the shelter after the riot, was appointed mayor. They literally rebelled against the authorities and they needed to believe in something, or in this case, in someone.

The memory is jammed intentionally, which makes it convenient for the top. But its exit to the outside and, in general, resistance to the foundations are located by the lower strata. It's convenient and comfortable for everyone to have her.

He'll remember everything now, and then it'll be really interesting. The main thing is that the resistance does not come out of hiding earlier.

After the events with Bernard, Lucas actually becomes a person who can control the information and technologies of Shelter-18, which means he influences the future of all residents.
For Juliet, he gradually becomes not just an acquaintance, but the closest person and partner she trusts. In the books, their relationship develops into true love.

When Anna changed Thurman to Donnie after freezing, on the computer. Donny was pushing Lucas, revealing secrets to him. But Juliette didn't trust him. I thought they were being controlled again. In the end, they'll just trust Charlotte, believe her, come out, and it seems true. Later, while Donny is undermining 1 shelter, he will let her go outside in a suit (force her to leave). Since he's seriously ill there, he only has a couple of days left. He would sacrifice himself so that she would survive. She's going to go by seven, too. That's where he and Jultui will meet. Okay, at least they didn't pull the twist that they were stuffing her with pills, remembering the pace of season 2, I could have waited for this episode in the fifth as a PLOT TWIST. The only thing I don't understand yet is the dynamics of Sims and his wife, which one of them is in charge of this whole situation, on the one hand, he's always trying to be the shadow boss everywhere, on the other, she's still talking with a megamind.

I love the series, but I still remember the cons... So far, to be honest, the line of modernity is much more interesting than the line of shelter. Both from the point of view of lore and the picture (still, these corridors and stairs are a bit tiring).
In the shelter itself, it's as if there will be an endless tinkering with Juliette's memory, which she will return at a critical moment in the finale and something from the congressman will play a role in the shelter...
Honestly, as if the line with protest and "lies on the screen" was supposed to end after the end of last season, but it's here again, xs how much it will be interesting.
It seems like there are only three books and the first one was stretched over two seasons, and the rest one at a time, so I really hope that this season will be a little faster (at least the quick disclosure of the twist with pills hints), but I'm afraid to hope much. Well, I hope we'll hear something more about the characters of the second season from another hiding place.

Shh, it was much better than you could tell from the trailer — it felt like she wouldn't remember anything at all for half a season, and it would be the same from episode to episode, like in the second season. And look, I've already started to remember something, and I realized that everything is not so simple! So, we hope for something cheerful!

P.S. And yes, people who have read books, can you please not spoil everything all the time? Well, or at least put a warning that there is a spoiler below. @LouisloveHarry: stop comparing two separate works already. Your verbal diarrhea above reads like "I read books and know everything in advance, but everything is not like in books!11!!!1!".
I've also read books, but I can discuss the SERIES outside of the context of the books, because they're two different works. Forget about the fact that there are books in principle, the series is BASED on them, and does not accurately convey every line and plot twist.
You've already watched two whole seasons without wondering why, because the first two seasons also have a lot of differences from the books. Take it easy and enjoy, without spoiling those who haven't read it. Treat the audience with respect. Here you can only spoilerize the content of a specific series that you are writing about in the discussions.

It seems like the series is normal, nothing out of the ordinary, but it was a bit boring to watch. Last season ended on a high note, with a fierce movement and it seemed that this one should continue those events, but here everything is kind of sluggish, everyday, plus new characters and events in the bunker that don't catch on yet. Surely, of course, the pace will accelerate later, but judging by the experience of previous seasons, you will have to wait a lot for this. It's especially funny to read the rave reviews from critics against this background .

A normal start, just a flashback will dilute the slowness of what is happening in the bunker and the series will not stall as much as in the middle of the second season.
Favorite TV series. I hope the issue of amnesia will be resolved by episode 2-3. And there will be a movement. My wife and I were also sitting at the beginning, we didn't understand. The same part has already been forgotten. The comments recalled that Sims, his wife and child went into the "golden room" together, but only his wife was allowed to stay. The first episode didn't come out bad for me, it's sad that the next episode will have to wait a week. On the contrary, I want more of the bunker itself than what was "before".

The beginning is powerful! However, there are traditionally high expectations from this series)
It's great that Juliette was made mayor, but it's bad that she was brainwashed, and now it's like in one famous movie - "I remember here, I don't remember here." And where did the second bunker at number 18 go, or what was it? Solo or whoever else was there, what's wrong with them?

The secret message in the soup is just 5 points 👏 Bravo, and the spy vibes have arrived.
Oh, who put up a banner about lying on the screen, but they are clearly fighting for the right cause, well done. Not like some people on airplanes, although I don't like to get into geopolitics, but this agenda has been shoved into TV shows for years.
The fact that Bernard survived in the airlock, and then he was killed, in general, is not so important. He was still that weirdo with the letter M and pretty infuriated the past 2 seasons.

It's interesting, of course, what kind of substance was sprayed in the air, which even disabled the fighters. Antimatter, damn it))
Maybe they poisoned the planet with this crap?
Although who knows, I hope they'll tell you more. Fortunately, now there are enough flashbacks from the time before the disaster, so it will definitely be interesting.

P.S. That feeling when both Paradise and Shelter/Bunker come out in one year)
@6o4ka: what kind of right cause are those who write about lies on the screen fighting for? That poster is literally a riot that killed a nearby bunker. Everyone believed that it was a lie on the screen, and rushed out of the bunker, where in the end everyone dried up to dust, and then Jules walked through their bones when she was escaping from the cleanup. This is not a just cause, but ruin.

The authors of the series clearly have their own very special vision of the development of all this, because there are practically no parallels with the book anymore, and they are deliberately complicating their lives so that they cannot even try to follow the book rails. And even though the plot is stalling somehow, even now I am very, very interested in how the plot will be resolved in the end :D

@Kentavr: the authors do everything right for the current realities. Science fiction writers at the time, when they were writing books, could not even think that this was the reality of the future. Kentavr
Kentavr
08 Jul 05:07 #
@Tartugec: No, it's not, it's a 2011+ book, everything is completely fresh. The authors of the series don't change anything "real-life", they just change the plot. For example, changing the gender of a character that is important to the plot without replacing or introducing another character is not a reality of the future.
That is, everything that is conventionally "technological" shown in the series is also in the book, one way or another, they do not change this, or they do not change it somehow radically, preserving if not the letter, then at least the spirit and essence of the idea.

@Tartugec: The backstory is needed in order to introduce the characters who will eventually be the main ones at the end. These books are about how a bunch of people thought they could retrain people, make them compliant and manageable, but eventually realized that this was not possible.

I don't really like that "airtime" is spent on prehistory.

It would be nice to talk about how the bunkers were built, why such rules/pacts were introduced, or something that would reveal life in the bunker.
But the story about Iran seems so far from the main plot, and so predictable (everything will end in big BANG), that I don't even really want to delve into it.

However, if they somehow elegantly steer towards the main plot (there are already parallels with amnesia), then it will be cool.

Well, what can I say, the worst scenario decisions and the worst TV shows are those who introduce the past, the future, amnesia, some flashbacks and so on, and such a series is hiding. An outright bad series that kills the pace every season.

That is, we are waiting for the first season for something to happen, we are waiting for the second season, and we will also wait for the third season. Every season kind of starts over, there is no development. Everything goes in a circle.

The beginning - > despondency -> cliffhanger

It's already starting to get annoying, it's just dragging out time, as well as the same thing from the outside.

I barely finished half of it, it's going hard. Amnesia? Seriously? Is that santabarbara? And then, at what point did it become a series about a congressman, a bunch of women around him (no, seriously, did he even talk to a man in the series?) And the bombing of Iran? Why is that even necessary? Why in such a volume?
It seems that the authors have completely written themselves out

I agree that amnesia is the most disgusting decision, the series has already been stretched, and the beginning is not impressive at all.

@funnypennywise: amnesia, separation of personality and time travel for me are twists that already make you want to spit, unless the plot is based on them first.

@kiprian_zhurov: amnesia is too cliched a movie, stretching an already stretched plot. Time travel was well beaten in the Dark, to the separation of personality in the opposite direction

@funnypennywise: well, in the darkness, it was originally that the story began with time travel in essence, and not suddenly introduced in the third season)

I watched the moment when the United States really started bombing Iran again, it was a bit funny

I'm like Jules-I don't remember anything either, but I remember for sure that I didn't have amnesia. In my opinion, I never finished reading the third book, so I don't know the full ending, but I know that there should have been a backstory. Still, it feels like there's been such a leap between the seasons.

I didn't like the local Jigan, and I still don't like it. Neither a character nor an actor.
I hope that the amnesia will not be delayed for half a season, somehow Jules will regain her memory faster.
