I think the production team hit the jackpot the day Aiden came to the casting.
I can feel Lu Feng slowing down like a single-core processor. There are so many years of resentment and introspection that the system processes the news "Yichen actually came back to you on his own" with a critical delay.
Lu Feng has never solved anything in this story, because in the first place, everything that happens is Yichen's way. And I would even say that this is not so much a road to love as a road to oneself.
Throughout the drama, I often talked about what was happening through Yichen's eyes, and Lu Feng only got my attention closer to the finale. That's because it's Yichen who moves this story forward, and finally I can write not about how circumstances force him to make decisions, but about how he takes control himself.
First, his brother hid the messages, then his mother reminded Yichen of his son's duty, and then Lu Feng finally deprived him of the right to choose. Therefore, my favorite twist of the series was that Yichen did not fall for his brother's manipulation.
And it's not even about choosing between my brother and Lu Feng - it's more important to me that Yichen chooses himself for the first time. For a very long time, he worried about how his decisions would affect others, and studiously ignored how much they hurt him. And now, when his brother confronts him with a cruel choice between the only person from the family he has left and his own life, Yichen finally chooses what he wants.
And it's hard for me to remember many examples where Yichen just came forward and spoke bluntly.: "That's what I want." Except for the moment when he stepped under a bullet to shield Lu Feng.
Now he puts on the ring himself, even though Lu Feng let him go, and then he runs to him, almost the same as ten years ago, when he was desperately trying to keep up with Lu Feng ... only this time he succeeds. For the first time in a long time, Yichen does not shut himself off from his own feelings, but goes towards them, and for me it is the very fact of choice that is especially important here, and not the fact that it is a romantic gesture.
There are many intersections with the youth of the main characters in this series, but now Yichen is becoming a full-fledged participant in the events, and not just going with the flow. He listens to himself, makes decisions, and for the first time, Lu Feng gives him the space to make those choices.
It was especially interesting for me to observe that Yichen, out of habit, is still waiting for Lu Feng to take action. He expects him to decide for the two of them again, and he finds himself confused when he realizes that now it is he who needs to give consent to this relationship. It is here that it becomes especially noticeable how much in this story depends on Yichen himself. All this time, Lu Feng was the one who reacted vividly, acted impulsively, and loudly declared himself and his desires. And Yichen himself always saw it as a trigger. Therefore, perhaps for the first time, he is faced with how scary it is to take the first step himself.
And at that moment, Yichen does what he does best again, escapes from an open conversation. Lu Feng, in turn, does what he has done before: he finds him sitting by the road, confused and not understanding what to do next, and fortunately, this time Lu Feng finds the strength to speak.
That's why the main thing for me in this series is the choice.
Yichen's choice is to stop hiding his fears behind circumstances, stop making decisions that others offer him, and finally take responsibility for his own life, even if he has to choose between his brother and his insane love.
I was glad to see that Yichen finally decided to make an independent choice, but at the same time I want to talk separately about the nature of this act. Too much has happened between the characters to explain Yichen's decision by plot logic alone.
Happy moments were followed by long years of painful separation, the hope of a new beginning turned into pain, resentment and disappointment, and culminated in mutual self-torment, which cannot simply be crossed out with a single confession or romantic gesture.
In such a situation, it seems to me important to look not only at the choice itself, but also at the emotional state in which Yichen made it. And just the line with the airport looks to me like one of the strongest references of the whole series.
The moment when Yichen drives away, leaving Lu Feng standing on the road and staring after the car, feels like an almost mirrored dive into the very heart of the characters' painful past. Perhaps that's why Yichen can't just turn away and drive away: looking at Lu Feng's motionless figure, it's as if he's facing his own pain.
There have not been many situations in which Yichen has taken a really firm stand in history, and his attempt to catch up with Lu Feng when he was being taken to America is one of them. Back then, Yichen was still ready to act. He jumped at the opportunity when his brother opened the door for him and ran to Lu Feng, not thinking about what his parents would say later and how he would have to deal with the consequences of this impulsive act. He just knew that if he didn't do something, he would regret it.
That's why it doesn't seem accidental to me that before putting on the ring, Yichen remembers only one specific moment: the day the whole school found out about their relationship. A day when the whole world looked at him disapprovingly, and Lu Feng walked by his side and took the brunt of it.
Yichen remembers not just some warm memory of their love, but the feeling of security he felt next to Lu Feng. It's as if memory brings him back to the very foundation of their bond, to the moment when they both still believed they could be each other's support. And now Lu Feng turns out to be a man who needs this support as much as Yichen himself once needed it.
And now Yichen seems to see himself in Lu Feng. Someone who has experienced the anger and disappointment of others. The one who was ready to run after the car, even realizing that another scandal was waiting for him at home. The one who ended up alone on the road and couldn't change anything.
Therefore, it is difficult for me to see only love in Yichen's return. Too many things converge at this point at the same time: the old pain, the fear of losing each other completely, the feeling of incompleteness, and the memory of one's own helplessness, which still remains alive years later.
And in a way, Yichen returns not so much to Lu Feng as to the part of himself that remained sitting on the sidewalk ten years ago.
It rhymes surprisingly accurately with Yichen's feelings after their first quarrel, when Lu Feng insisted on intimacy.
Yichen feels confused and insecure. Again, he doesn't understand where to go next. He wants to go back to Lu Feng, but it's like he's not sure if they're on the same level of feelings right now.
And, of course, Lu Feng finds him again.
Only then, the cause was a sore ankle, and now a nosebleed, which gives Lu Feng an excuse to take Yichen home again.
Perhaps Lu Feng was thrown back into the past for a moment, just like me. Where he screwed up, but still knew how to listen, apologize, and compromise.
And that's exactly how he seemed to me here.
He blurted out everything that had accumulated inside Yichen. It was confusing, awkward, and sometimes even desperate, but he honestly explained how much he was confused about his own feelings and how little he understood what to do next.
And it seems to me that at that moment, Yichen saw in front of him not an adult Lu Feng with all the burden of their common story, but the same boy who once carried him home on his back and just as excitedly tried to tell about his feelings.
I think that's why it was at that moment that something inside Yichen finally fell into place.
There is something very touching about a person being willing to open up to you from such a side, and Yichen cherished this memory in his heart. š„ŗ
I watched the scene twice: first I looked at Lu Feng, and then at Yichen, who swam like that.ā¦
And I immediately had the feeling that his thoughts were no longer here, but in that very night when Lu Feng was also babbling to him in embarrassment.
In general, I'm in love with how many subtle details have been scattered throughout the plot. Not only the characters, but the story itself speaks to the viewer.
I really wanted to have time to write the analysis through the title of the drama, but there was such a volume of material that I didn't have enough time. And even without the finale, it's not entirely clear what other turns of this spiral await us at the end of the journey.
In their youth, they didn't really know how to talk about what was going on between them, but they felt an inner attraction, and one pillow was an excuse to close the distance.
Now they both occupy their edge of the pillow in order to maintain this delicate balance, because at this point they do not know what to do next. Lu Feng no longer dares to take the initiative, so as not to hurt Yichen, and Yichen is confused by this unusual atmosphere, where Lu Feng does not persevere.
In this scene, it was especially felt that their relationship could no longer work as before, and the new mechanism had yet to be adjusted. There is too much emotional burden between them now, which sets the boundary, and no one is ready to cross it first until they receive confirmation of reciprocity.

Also, the scene after the restaurant in my eyes was a reference to the dinner that Lu Feng invited Yichen to when they first met in the office after separation.
Then he asked Yichen for a drink of water, but in the end he stayed for dinner and for the night, and now he immediately left. And at that moment, confusion crossed Yichen's face, because he no longer understands how to build communication with this version of Lu Feng.
And by the way, if I was naive back then and decided that Lu Feng hadn't gone any further than kissing, then watching enough at this point makes it clear to me that kissing wasn't the only thing.
Not only Yichen's heavy awakening, but also the fact that he woke up in his pajamas, which he gave Lu Feng, hints that he not only managed to spend the night in the fourth episode. š«£
In general, while I was writing a lengthy analysis for the last episode, I went over in my head once again how Lu Feng's desire transformed from "I want Yichen to feel love for me" to "I want Yichen to feel something for me," and the NC scene only helped me put together the full picture
Lu Feng was never a patient person, and under the weight of years of separation, this skill sank more and more. This applies not only to sex, but also to communication in relationships in general.
So, for the first time, Lu Feng also put pressure on Yichen, although he was not yet ready for intimacy. And what seemed self-evident to Lu Feng in a relationship was not so for Yichen. Lu Feng was once again ahead of Yichen in terms of feelings. In such a situation, Lu Feng's ego was the first to react, which made him pull the blanket over himself, but when he saw how excited Yichen was, his own feelings faded into the background.
Back then, it wasn't just his own desire that mattered to him, but also how Yichen felt. And instead of continuing to insist that he was right, Lu Feng starts listening. He lets Yichen express everything: dissatisfaction, resentment, feelings. And the very "pervert" that Yichen throws at him does not become a reason for anger, but on the contrary, focuses Lu Feng more on Yichen's emotions. Lu Feng listens, apologizes, and very confusingly but honestly talks about his feelings, explains why he was so impatient and why he didn't pay attention to Yichen's worries.
But over the years of separation, Lu Feng's patience sags even more. And when Yichen hurts his ego during a fight over a guy from a club, Lu Feng loses his temper. If earlier even the accusation of perversion made him look back at himself, now even the phrase "I will hate you" doesn't work anymore
It was as if at that moment he no longer cared what that feeling would be. The main thing is that this is not indifference. The main thing is that Yichen will feel something for him.
It's sad that Yichen had to go into a coma in order for Lu Feng to learn patience.
And looking at Lu Feng's tears, I hope that he also feels this burden and will never allow himself to be the one who hurts Yichen again.
Once again, my attention was drawn to this pendulum on Lu Feng's desk... I know that this thing works as a barometer of Lu Feng's emotional state, but I can't prove it.

And I agree with @HaiLouYin's opinion that this is the first time that Yichen chose himself.

I don't know about you, but for some reason it seems to me that Brother Yichen allows himself to be loved, and
