It's so hard to just sit down and talk! As the years go by, the characters have matured, but inside there are still the same knots of doubt, the same timid confusion.

This wedding… She was somehow wrong, ridiculous. Especially her friend's act, there was a kind of desperate emptiness in it, as if she was going there not for love, but to put a check mark.

And the only thing that somehow reconciled with this picture was that my mother was alive and was able to see it.

That's it... It was his redemption. He finally closed this chapter, relieved the burden of guilt that had been weighing on his shoulders for years.

And the moment those years of commitment ended, something changed in him‑there was this new breath, a freedom that hadn't been there before.

He walked towards Lu Feng's office so freely, so easily, as if five years of separation had disappeared into the very air around him. Waving his cloak, he seemed to shake off the burden of time step by step.

But Lu Feng, with his head held high and his back straight, tried to hide the scars of resentment from us. But it was all too obvious on his face.

I have so many thoughts in my head that I don't understand how to put them together into something whole. Instead, individual scenes pop up that they don't want to let go of.

And for some reason, the first among them is the reaction of Yichen's mother to Zhou Lan.

"A girl is good"

Then the news about the wedding

"Marriage is good"

Not "I'm happy for you," not "congratulations," but "it's good." And she repeats these words over and over, like a mantra. But I still can't figure out who they were addressed to.

It was as if she wasn't happy about the events in her son's life, but was checking some internal list of the right life and checking another box.
Everything is going as it should go

That's why her last words seemed so important to me.

At the wedding, she smiled and applauded along with everyone. But in the last minutes of her life, she could no longer close her eyes to what was happening right in front of her. She no longer saw the image of her son, who had fulfilled everything she expected of him. There was just a man standing in front of her. Tired, thin and unhappy

Perhaps that's why she chose an apology instead of gratitude. And I do not know who needed these words more, Yichen or herself, but I want to believe that at least at that moment she saw for the first time the price he had to pay for fulfilling her desires.

And that this short confession made this difficult period of Yichen's life at least a little less bitter.

The wedding ceremony became another scene that stuck like a splinter under the skin.

Because despite everything that had happened, despite the mistakes, the resentments, and the consequences of that morning that had changed their lives forever, the person Yichen still imagined standing next to him at the altar was Lu Feng.

After such painful turning points, there may be a desire to find someone to blame, devalue the past and convince yourself that everything was a mistake. But Yichen is not trying to rewrite his own feelings. He recognizes the pain, recognizes the consequences, but does not give up the fact that he loves Lu Feng and still sees him next to him.

And this probably hurts even more than the fact of the wedding, which became a way for Yichen to close several painful issues at once.:

— to fulfill her duty to her mother
— to distance herself from Lu Feng
completely — to give Zhou Lan the opportunity to move on

And if you think about it, she turned out to be the only person in this story who really managed to let go of the past.

Five years of fictitious marriage can hardly be called a happy period of life, but it was during this time that she consolidated her position in the family business, was able to leave behind feelings for Yichen and meet a man who truly loves her.

Compared to the rest of the characters, it looks almost amazing, because Yichen's mother passed away with regret, Yichen himself continued to live with a sense of duty, and Lu Feng existed for years in longing and expectation ... and only Zhou Lan was the only one who was able to get out of this story without looking back.

And I'm even glad that there's at least one person here that my heart doesn't ache for.

I found one detail with the ring very interesting.

After their first breakup, the ring just lay there, and when Lu Feng put it back on Yichen's finger, it turned out that it was already small and difficult to put on.

And I found it very symbolic.

Their first relationship also seemed to "no longer suit" them as before. After everything they'd been through, something had already changed, become cramped, uncomfortable, and left traces, but the ring was still intact.

But after the second breakup, Yichen literally had to saw through it to remove it, and it almost feels like a reflection of their relationship.

The first time they broke up against their will, and despite the pain between them, there was still an opportunity to save everything, but the second breakup had already been initiated by Yichen himself, and it was he who seemed to leave a real scar on their relationship.

The ring wouldn't come off on its own, and it had to be cut.

Of course, after his divorce from Zhou, Lan Yichen repaired it to wear it as a pendant, but the trace of the spike will not disappear anywhere.

@innsight: I love this detail with the rings.

I just remembered the scene where Lu Feng took off the ring and looked at it thoughtfully while sitting in the office.
It turns out that he was looking at the crack.

Once upon a time, this ring was a symbol of hope, which he carefully kept all the years of separation. A touching reminder of the man he once dreamed of returning to.

But now there is a scar on the symbol of hope, reminding not only of love, but also of the pain that this love brought.

@innsight: Yeah, I also listened to this fragment several times while I was looking for a gif, and there were even thoughts of finding Chinese subtitles, so that for sure it was possible, and that's why Yichen plucked up the courage to go to his meeting. It's hard not to grasp the meaning of such a name.

I also noticed that Yichen has always been wearing glasses for the past five years. Even at home. But when he came to the office to see Lu Feng, he took them off before going into the lobby. Probably because Lu Feng likes to see his eyes.…
And the second time, Yichen was confused and was no longer up to it.

I also couldn't ignore one visual moment during the meeting between Lu Feng and Yichen in the office.

Lu Feng looked like he didn't care, although it was obvious that everything was boiling inside him at that moment.

And when changing the frame, this infinitely rotating pendulum is superimposed on it several times.

Against the background of Lu Feng's outwardly relaxed and calm image, he is perceived almost as a visualization of the emotional storm that Lu Feng is desperately trying to keep inside.

@innsight: It illustrates very nicely how their relationship is going to take another turn.

Again, a chance meeting at work, again Lu Feng holds Yichen's profile, waiting for the moment when he enters the office and realizes who exactly turned out to be his boss

And with each such chance meeting after separation, the degree of tension between them grows more and more. First, there was a forced breakup and misunderstanding, and now there is a full—fledged painful breakup of relations, where there is even more unspoken

There may be some nonsense written next, but I've been having a thought about "distancing myself from Lu Feng" for some time, although I'm not sure how fair it is.

There is a very obvious red flag in this story, so noticeable that it almost overshadows everything else. Therefore, the fact that Lu Feng hurt Yichen is not even questionable. But the more I think about their relationship, the more often I get caught up in some of Yichen's own actions.

Lu Feng's feelings are always on the surface. He constantly talks about love, demands confirmation, is jealous, and is afraid of losing Yichen so much that at times he becomes suffocating and openly oversteps boundaries. His emotions are too loud, too impulsive, and that's why his toxicity is impossible to miss.

Against this background, Yichen seems to be the exact opposite. Very reserved and emotionally closed. He seems to leave a lot unsaid. She can respond to a declaration of love with a smile. He can keep silent where Lu Feng needs words. And every time Yichen does speak out about his feelings, Lu Feng's reaction looks as if he has received the most valuable gift in the world.

Sometimes it seems that Yichen did not always allow Lu Feng to feel loved and confident in their relationship, and because of this, Lu Feng seemed to be constantly stuck in his fears and doubts.

Even Yichen's sister occasionally added fuel to the fire, saying that Lu Feng's feelings were like unrequited love.

And yesterday I thought about the conversation on the stairs at the hospital for a long time.

It was probably the moment when they really should have taken a break. Yichen needed time to get over the news of his mother's illness, and Lu Feng needed to cool down before facing his main fear.

He is afraid of being a person who is loved less than he loves himself. He is afraid one day to hear that he has never been the one who is truly chosen. He's afraid of being a temporary person in the life of someone he's made the center of his universe.

And when Yichen asked for a pause, this fear finally broke out. And then, instead of trying to calm Lu Feng down, explain his motives, or at least give hope that they would try to find a solution together later, Yichen said the most painful words possible at that moment. He picked up Lu Feng's obsessive thoughts and revealed that he had been in love with someone else for a long time, that he wanted to leave, and that their relationship was over.

And I can't blame Yichen for that.
He was exhausted, scared, and emotionally shattered. In this state, it is difficult to think about the feelings of another person. He, like Lu Feng before, just went along with his emotions.

But that's what's bothering me.
Because Lu Feng is hurting openly, impulsively, and too visibly. But Yichen does it differently, through silence, distance, and words spoken in the most vulnerable moments. Not on purpose, not out of a desire to manipulate, but as if he always unwittingly gets into Lu Feng's most painful points.

And the more I think about their story, the more it seems that both of them can touch each other's deepest wounds over and over again, just doing it in completely different ways.

Someone causes pain loudly and destructively, and someone - quietly and almost imperceptibly.…
For example, you can disappear from a person's life without even leaving a farewell message to someone to whom you recently promised to devote your whole life.

Maybe I'm wrong and I should review a couple of episodes to understand where this feeling came from.

@HaiLouYin: This is the second time, as far as I remember, Yichen has shown verbal aggression. The first time, the trigger for this was Lu Feng's words that he was a man with needs (when a stranger from a bar came to his house). And this is the second time in this series. And in both cases, Yichen said painful things, such as not just to dig in, but to take out Lu Feng's whole soul. After all, the scariest thing for Lu Feng is to find out that there is, was, or will be someone else in Yichen's heart.
HaiLouYin
HaiLouYin
30 May 21:52 #
@innsight: That's right, thanks, the situation with the guy from the bar... and I kept trying to remember where else I'd noticed such a reaction from Yichen.

I usually find arguments more often that Lu Feng is an obvious red flag here, and Yichen is a man who has to endure toxic behavior. This is a fairly standard binary system.
And more and more often I find myself feeling that their dynamics are more complicated after all.

They both allow themselves to manifest themselves in a relationship in a way that is not the healthiest, especially when they are emotional. They don't calm each other down, but on the contrary, they only inflame the conflict more

And that's probably why their quarrels become so permissive. Lu Feng acts impulsively and openly, especially when he feels a loss of control, while Yichen, on the contrary, more often goes into coldness, distance, or very precise painful words. Just because he knows Lu Feng too well. Not only his strengths, but also his deepest fears.
innsight
innsight
30 May 21:57 #
@HaiLouYin: Red flag is not a universal diagnosis, but rather a reflection of personal boundaries, habits, and preferences. What is an alarming signal for one person may be the norm for another. And looking at their relationship, I think Lu Feng and Yichen are definitely not red flags for each other. But yes, their relationship is destructive, as they are both impulsive. Lu Feng has been like this ever since high school. Yichen is more restrained, but he accumulates something in himself and then spits out the most pungent at once.

I do not know about you girls, but at the wedding I started crying, and that slight half-smile that appeared on his face, looking at his happy mother, finally got to me, I just rushed to the bathroom and burst into tears out loud, and I watched the rest of the episode there periodically crying again...
This is a plus minus the place I read to, I couldn't go any further. I watched the 2016 version, I know how the situation with a glass of wine was played out there, I hope they won't follow the novel here either, I don't want such an act from a Fan. It's always much easier for me to think from Yichen's point of view, because he's responsible for the rational side of the story, and Lu Feng's view is pure emotional chaos that finally fits in my head.

Love is not a meter of sacrifice and achievement, and I'm not going to measure who loved more: Lu Feng or Yichen. But before the story gets to the point where the characters enter their third round of pain, I want to leave at least one comment about Lu Feng, otherwise I'm all about Yichen and Yichen.

I will not speculate that all of Lu Feng's actions were the result of obsessive love. There is no doubt that his love for Yichen defines his life. He reaches for it so desperately, as if he's afraid that if he loosens his grip for even a second, he'll lose it again.
But I believe that love by itself does not make a person cruel, but fighting for it does.

When Lu Feng was twenty, he was too weak in front of his family and society to truly protect his relationship. He could only shield Yichen from the gaze of others and kneel in front of his father, helplessly watching as he tore up his passport. Then there were four years of longing, loneliness and pain, which Lu Feng drowned in alcohol.

At the age of twenty-four, he gets a chance to return. More precisely, an offer that he accepts without hesitation, as soon as he realizes that this is an opportunity to be with Yicheng again. He gets involved in the family business and agrees to the engagement, knowing full well that it can only be broken through a reputational scandal, and seizes this chance with both hands.

Lu Feng is willing to do anything for the sake of the illusory hope of being with Yicheng, and now he is much more determined, because the feeling of helplessness has not disappeared anywhere. It still lives inside him, forcing him to become tougher, and this is the first stage of his transformation.

His father is still the external force that has power over Lu Feng, and he is willing to be patient as long as the threats concern only himself. But at the moment when his father begins to threaten Yichen, Lu Feng for the first time allows himself to respond with force. And even in his last conversation with his father, he does not show leniency. In the face of death, many choose compromise, good lies, or at least silence. Lu Feng chooses none of these things. He continues to defend his love to the very end and does not allow himself to humiliate her for the sake of someone else's peace of mind.

In my opinion, such events do not go unnoticed. It is impossible to say the last words to your own father, and then realize that there will never be any other words, and not break down somewhere inside. The man Lu Feng fought with all his life, who controlled him, used violence, and tried to decide for him who to love and how to live, is still his father. And I'm not talking about guilt right now, because Lu Feng is not to blame for his death. I just don't believe it's possible to survive something like this and come out of this story the same person.

And his father's passing away does not become a victory, but turns into another obstacle, because even from the grave he continues to dictate his terms, to which Lu Feng agrees again without hesitation. He works day and night to get himself out of a family that will never accept him for who he is.

But all this struggle is accompanied by a constant reminder that others still consider Lu Feng to be a problem. His own sister does not miss the opportunity to find out that his feelings were never mutual. Yichen's brother does not hide his dislike, and his mother blames him for all the troubles. However, all this fades into the background, as long as Yichen remains nearby.

And Lu Feng wanted only one thing: to feel loved, needed, and important to the person who had promised him to spend the rest of his life with him.:

— I was afraid that I would not have time to celebrate the New Year with you
— another year has passed, Lu Feng... another year
— yes
— you should be with me all year
— yes
— and the next one too
— yes

And then I had to watch a video sequence about how the characters spend the next five years apart with the same beautiful musical theme in the background, because when they face a common problem, they never get the opportunity to solve it together.

Instead, the accumulated tension turns out to be directed at each other: Lu Feng is too shocked to think rationally, and Yichen lacks the inner strength to have an open conversation, and he closes down emotionally.

After all that has happened, the only way out for Yichen is to escape. Of course, he has his reasons, his fears, and his motivation. His story is not limited to the role of a villain. Rather, it shows a person who is not ready for the struggle that circumstances require of him.

Yichen lacks the inner strength to seek a solution together. I don't have the strength to defend my right to this relationship in front of a terminally ill mother. But, just as importantly, he doesn't have the strength to fight Lu Feng himself.

Because Yichen knows him better than anyone. He knows that when it comes to their relationship, Lu Feng doesn't compromise. He sees a goal and goes straight for it. For him, love is something that needs to be fought for to the end, and any concessions look more like a defeat than a solution.

Of course, one can assume that Lu Feng would have agreed to create the very facade of normalcy that Yichen's mother so desperately wanted. However, I can hardly believe that Lu Feng would agree to a compromise in which Yichen portrays a happy family life, and their relationship remains something shameful that needs to be hidden.

But it's pointless to reason in the subjunctive mood, and Yichen doesn't even give them a chance to try to solve this problem together.: He initiates the arrest of Lu Feng, then ignores calls and messages while he is in America, and then simply disappears without a trace. And the last thing that remains for Lu Feng is the words that he is not loved, that promises to be together meant nothing, and that he himself means nothing.

Of course, Yichen has his reasons for this, but from the point of view of Lu Feng, who has been used to fighting all his life, everything looks different: here they do not even leave obstacles for him to try to overcome, and this is where the second separation differs from the first.

When they were separated for the first time, Lu Feng was completely helpless. He couldn't change anything, couldn't go back, and couldn't contact Yicheng, but then he still had faith that he was loved and expected, even though the letters were unanswered.

The second time, they didn't even leave him that. This time, the man for whom he had been going forward for so many years had abandoned him himself, saying that there was nothing more to fight for. With his disappearance, Yichen takes away the support that Lu Feng was holding on to.

If for the first four years Lu Feng looked at the engraving on the ring and hoped one day to return to the person who loves and waits for him, then for the next five years he looked at the place of the rift. And I wouldn't be surprised if this crack runs exactly where the letters F♡C used to be, which he himself painstakingly wrote out.

And this crack reflects very well what happened to Lu Feng. The first time, helplessness broke him, but there was still hope next to the pain. The second time, he was left with only pain and a sense of betrayal.

And love, as for me, was initially huge. In college, Lu Feng was already obsessed with Yichen and often tried to push the situation in the right direction. But next to that, there was more gentleness and patience in him. And now his love has been missed through years of struggle, humiliation, family pressure, fear of losing him again, and the endless feeling that the whole world is trying to take away his right to be with the person he loves.

Lu Feng's love remains as all-consuming as before, but a man who has been paying for it for years with loneliness and a sense of betrayal from someone he considered his home can no longer remain the same.

And I still don't know how much Lu Feng has changed by his thirties. I don't know how I'm going to talk about him this Friday either... but one thing is for sure — Lu Feng is not the kind of person who goes back on his words.

@HaiLouYin: I totally agree with you, and I support every word. ✊️
I'll tell you more, I corresponded with one of them in the comments after the series with wear, and she wrote a terrible thing, as it seemed to me at the time. That Lu Feng is actually not bad, he just defends his love, and what happened to my mother and brother is that they themselves are to blame (I was only relying on the novel at the time), at that moment I thought it was some kind of broken off and curtailed the dialogue. And now I'm not so far away from her position.🤔🤔🤔

@vera24: so I decided to formulate my pov on Lu Feng now, before the tin starts further, because I'm not sure that I can rationally look at what is happening through his eyes later. To abstract and calmly analyze his motivation as a character within the story. Emotions will definitely come to the fore here.…

It's difficult for me to give a definite answer about my mother and brother. I didn't participate in the discussions myself, but I read arguments that Lu Feng pushed his brother away by accident, he just didn't calculate the force when he fought back. And that a mother could tell her sons about the disease, and not take pills in secret. Then, perhaps, everything would have turned out differently: they would have started treatment earlier, treated more carefully, and Lu Feng would have been aware that there was no need to get into trouble. He would have known that Yichen was protecting his mother's feelings because of her illness, and not because he considered their relationship shameful, etc. etc.

And with a purely cold brain, I understand that this can really be categorized. But when you're inside emotions, it doesn't matter who started the fight first or who knew what. The emotional shock still turns out to be stronger than logic.

So one part of me says: It's a tragic accident, and the other one reminds us that the reasons don't absolve us of responsibility anyway.

And here you can understand Yichen, who at some point simply stopped exporting everything at once: the pressure of his mother, the pressure of Lu Feng, and the thought that now the responsibility for the whole family would fall on him alone.

This fucking dualism is being plugged in.
Lu Feng didn't seem to be purposefully trying to harm him, but Yichen, for his part, also wasn't obligated to get into his position and analyze where he was right, where it was an accident, and where he had overreached. He didn't have time to analyze the situation at all then.

But rape is already a direct joint of Lu Feng. And it seems to me that we were shown for a reason that back in college he constantly pushed through Yichen's personal boundaries. Because if you give a person a break once, then he will start to move the boundaries even more

Here I completely condemn Lu Feng, but at the same time I understand Yichen and why he eventually turns a blind eye to this. I've been in a similar position myself, and I can understand how easy it is to convince yourself that "a person is just showing love" in your relationship.

Although this does not change the fact that at such moments you do not feel like a person, but a thing that someone has declared his own. And if another person wants to "show love" like that, then your consent doesn't seem to exist anymore.

And honestly, I'm not ready for another rape scene at all. At least the first one wasn't shown to the end, and I could draw anything in my head. And then, as I understand it, they are already going to show everything from and to

So be sure to leave me a spoiler, in which episode it will be, so that I can mentally prepare.

@HaiLouYin: Okay, I'll leave it)
as for the pressure, you're right, it's quite gently presented to us here after all. The novel clearly shows that Feng, since he has decided that you are only mine, then I will do with you what I see fit. At the time of their first meeting, Ichen was only 14 ((( And he took him there by force of babbling about unearthly love.
The drama also has these pressures, but in a softer way. I moved in with him without asking, again, for example.
And about the photo, I forgot something, was there a scene on the bridge here? In the novel, he told him that as long as we're alive, you're mine alone, and if necessary, I'll break my legs and lock him up at home. It's not without reason, but the gist is this

@vera24: This is the PSDC. And age, too… I understand that in the novel Lu Feng did everything he wanted to do, and then they threw humanity at him: they added more emotions, reflection and understanding that he was still overreacting in places.

There really was no scene on the bridge, as well as threats in the spirit of "I'll break my legs and lock myself up at home" have not yet been delivered. Maybe they decided that it would be more logical to throw insanity and motivation at him first, so that there would be at least some justification for such a tough position

And I also don't know if it's true, but I read that in the novel Yichen promised to wait for Lu Feng from America, and then got married. Although mom had already died by that time, and Yichen, in fact, had no need to fulfill her wish. Unless it was a kind of retaliation to Lu Feng for everything he had done

And if Lu Feng also goes to extremes in the drama, it will be difficult for me to perceive it as anything other than revenge. Yes, Yichen didn't choose him, but he definitely rejected him before that, and the marriage was dictated by circumstances.

And yes, I agree, the moment of the move is a subtle throw-in. Lu Feng privatized the house, evicted the neighbor, threw something out, replaced something to his taste... but the main thing is to make it logical: Yichen does not want to move into a luxurious house, so Lu Feng will sacrifice comfort for the sake of their family happiness. It didn't matter for what reasons Yichen didn't want to live together.

For Lu Feng, this is a romantic gesture, but in fact it is a direct violation of Yichen's boundaries.
And more often this is served as pure romance, and then the alarm was thrown to emphasize the obsessive behavior.

So I cherish the hope that Lu Feng was given humanity for a reason, and Yichen was given a clear motivation.
Maybe Lu Feng will still turn on his head, take into account the circumstances and not be completely cruel, otherwise I don't want to hate him. 😔

@HaiLouYin: Yes, they really threw humanity at him. And what you hid under the spoiler is true, just like in the drama, while he went to sign the waiver, he got married under the guise, and his mother was no longer there. They softened it here, she saw the wedding.
in the novel, Yichen actually dated the younger guy first, and everything was there. So we're still being romanticized here)))

@HaiLouYin: @vera24 But he didn't get married to annoy Lu Feng, he just wanted to fulfill his duty to his mother. He kind of fulfilled her wish. And in the novel and in the TV series, he basically didn't have to get married. His mother lived to see the wedding, and in the novel she also manipulated him, but she did not live to see the wedding. In fact, it would be possible to just play out for mom that he had reformed and started dating a girl. Well, it was Yichen's choice. Cutting off all ties with Lu Feng wasn't necessary either, but he did it, it was his choice.

@innsight: The creators also decided that it would be more logical for mom to get married, and in the novel, his girlfriend also put pressure on him, I love you, I'll hide you, he won't give you life. Ichen is quite spineless there. He himself doesn't really understand how to live there)) everything is decided for him)))

03 Jun 12:52 #
@vera24: And I'm not spineless at all. It was just that everyone was piling on top of him from all sides. Lu Feng accidentally created a lot of problems. He's impulsive, he didn't even give himself time to think, he did it right away, and then there are the consequences. Even in front of Mom, I'm sure he went to sincerely apologize, but he blurted out too much. Yichen was simply overwhelmed with guilt in front of his mother, in front of his brother. And it's okay that he got married, I think. It would be worse if I did nothing, locked myself in 4 walls and went crazy. In such situations, it is necessary to cool down properly, but he chose to cool down by withdrawing from everyone, hiding with a friend.

@vera24, @innsight: Thanks for the explanation, because I couldn't quite figure out what was going on in the novel. I mostly came across arguments between Lu Feng's camp and Yichen's, and without context, it was difficult to figure out whether Yichen was really such a jerk there, or if this was already a personal prism of readers' perception.

While I was thinking about Lu Feng, I think I felt Yichen's motivation even more. Still, you can't make a deal with Lu Feng. Besides, all the time they were together, he kept saying that he wanted an open relationship and wasn't going to make a show in front of anyone. He did not indulge his family with illusions, and then suddenly the prospect of bending under Yichen's mother appeared.

So Yichen chose the option that seemed the only possible one. It wasn't very humane towards Lu Feng, but Yichen just didn't have enough for more at that moment. Pressure from all sides

And I also don't mind at all that Lu Feng's character was adjusted here and made him not as beaten up as in the novel. Otherwise, it would no longer be a drama, but a pure psychological horror.

And I expected more problems with the girl. She thought that they would make her more bitchy and she would put more pressure on Yichen. But in the end, they didn't really show anything like that: they slept in different rooms, and in the end she even started a relationship with another person. Although, maybe it's all dust in the eyes and she'll still set the heat here.

@HaiLouYin: Actually, it really bothers me that Yichen almost shies away from his girlfriend. He strictly rejected any expression of it towards Yichen. Okay, when was it before marriage, in a fictitious marriage, but why would he be electrocuted by her touch after? When she wanted to just put her hand on Yichen in the last meeting at the office as a sign of understanding and support, he pulled away because he had a mental disorder. But here, of course, there is something else, it is not yet clear what exactly.

Well, this is my opinion, on the one hand, willpower is also needed to commit such an act (marriage), and on the other hand, a head in the sand. His wife took on all the problems and steered herself.
I think that's why they made him so skinny in both places, to show him how puny he is.

@innsight: but it's true... maybe they'll show us what happened between them over the past five years. You're right.: one can also understand the attempt to demonstrate loyalty to Lu Feng, so that Zhou Lan would not have even the slightest illusions about something more. But when everything is resolved, you can return to friendship mode.

I hope this is not a hint that Zhou Lan indulged in something strange during her marriage. It would be better to have a way to show that Yichen was so broken up after breaking up with Lu Feng that even years later he still could not fully come to his senses.

Yichen's phrase came to my mind.:

"The only thing we are sure of is our love. But nowadays, even love turns into a lonely struggle. Lu Feng is the strongest warrior in this battle."

Back then, I thought it was just a remark that Lu Feng would always stand his ground, no matter what the cost.

And now it seems to me that Yichen was talking about himself. Each of them had a period of this lonely struggle, when the outcome of this story depended on the decision of one person. Yichen couldn't stand his battle, and Lu Feng is the one who always accepted the challenge and continued to fight to the very end.

Oh, what's going to happen, what's going to happen next.

The series is rich in events that are staggering. Starting with a ridiculous wedding for three cripples, ending with 5 years in a fictitious marriage!
Why take so long? Why were you dragging on?
Well, at least they remained friends with the lady.
What's there in 5 years with my brother in general? I haven't moved away from the diagnosis based on the photo yet.
