Ben really pisses me off. - Ever since this book came out, you've been pretending to be different. You go to the opera, you talk to people like him. First of all, what's wrong with opera? Shouldn't she go to the opera already because she's friends with you? Or what? Secondly, "with such people" - which ones is it? With beautiful, kind, and educated publishers? Does she have to date a dumb freak like you? - You have to remember who your real friends are. She just got a young man who accepts her for who she is! But Ben is not a real friend. All he does is ruin Hannah's life.
Ben is understandable. They went through a lot together, he accepted her line of work, always supported her. And then an absolutely lefty dude appeared, and Hannah's head was knocked off again, as in the case of Alex. If nothing works out with her new boyfriend, she'll start crying to Ben again, whom she completely abandoned as soon as the relationship began.
@Tristia: I don't quite agree with you. Ben didn't do very well himself when he was sleeping with Hannah's sister. And she still has a grudge against it. BUT she continued to chat with him anyway, she still drops by his bar. But I don't see him visiting her (as he did before). She didn't give up on him, she even brought Duncan to Ben's bar and introduced them to each other. And Ben met them with hostility.
@Muffin24: He doesn't spoil anything. They both love each other, so as soon as one of them has a relationship, they spoil it with their sour faces) Plus, Duncan is pretentious, Ben is just worried about Hannah, and he behaved normally with Alex. He's right about the opera, too, he's her best friend and he knows she doesn't like it. He probably wants someone to love her as much as he does, just the way she is. And he probably slept with his sister, subconsciously, despite Hannah's attention.
