Belous doesn't really try at all. With his abilities and kind of foresight, he could have understood where everything was going at the beginning and sacrificed himself. He doesn't have much time left anyway. And so he just stands there watching everyone die and tear their ass off, but nothing comes out. And what good did he change the space? Purely "look what I can do", but there is no efficiency.
