It's interesting, mysticism, and even Christian) Crosses everywhere) An intriguing beginning) in general, they probably only need an elephant man in this circus)
I can't count those distant days in 2007-2008, when my hand was reaching for this project, and those when something stopped me. now, ten years later, the world of "carnivale" in that dusty time is a breath of fresh air in our stuffy times. and after all, the dusty cauldron is not only a sad episode of America in the thirties, so accurately depicted in "carnival", but also our whole life: emotional and moral drought and complete ignorance, a kind of "sand blindness". Daniel Nauf and his team managed to recreate on the screen a world that would seem painfully familiar to us, but at the same time completely unknown: so, the eye clings to every symbol and frame, memory tries to fit all the lines and monologues, and the mind puts all these assembled puzzles together (each prophet is in his own House!).
there are no stories about artificial intelligence and virtual reality here, here is the life that is not so fashionable to talk about in the cinema now – a classic confrontation of good and evil both between people and within themselves, framed by a whole mythological universe, which is so interesting to understand after watching the whole project to make sure once again. Daniel Nauf is a master, and "carnivale", standing with one foot in spiritual and religious teachings and theories about the creation of man, and the other in the life and everyday life of ordinary people, was not only ahead of its time, but also scared away viewers who were not ready at that time with its originality. The only joy is that Nauf is still telling us what we would have seen if HBO had allowed the project to continue.
if from the very first episode you feel that the atmosphere has swallowed you up, that you have forgotten yourself for 50 minutes, then I have only one piece of advice – watch, watch, watch and be prepared that each character will take a separate place in your heart (or in the infernal cauldron).
A fascinating beginning. The picture, the costumes, the characters, the music...Everything attracts Special respect for the opening credits. I love this format!
