I thought that the turning point of this episode would happen in the middle of this season, but MB turned out even better - the quality of the series is quite high, there are many interesting characters and they are trying to reveal them as fully as possible. The soundtrack is great, the actors liked it, the whole story juice is still ahead - we are waiting for season 2.
I watched all the episodes almost in a row, David of course pulled it out. By the middle, it became boring, but the atmosphere of that time and good dialogues did not allow it to be abandoned, but it was delayed, but somehow they were not in a hurry to reveal the characters, only the ending disappointed, everything that was initially clear from the fragments of information was confirmed, and ended at an interesting moment, and continued a year later... well, I don't know yet, a series for the season with non-standard moves that would intrigue before waiting, but if it weren't for this site, then by the second season I would have definitely forgotten that I watched the first one:))) He's missing something.
@Romsas: +1. On episodes 4-5, Charlie wanted to strangle, and the entire second half of the series was practically squandered, because it was BORING. Charlie is an absolutely inadequate companion; David, of course, is gorgeous, but even that didn't help me watch. It all started out interesting, but it ended as always.
@YouAreByMySide: It's just that such series run well, one episode per week. Two is the maximum. More is too much. And then 13 were watched at once in a couple of days. This is not the kind of series to cling to the plot, the cliffhangers, the characters so much that you can watch it in one gulp.
@Nikquest: It's just, you know, there are TV shows where the pilot episode is boring. It's not quite there, but at some point the plot itself, the dialogues become nothing. Even if you look at one at a time, it's boring. You're right, neither the plot nor the characters.
The plot is developing too slowly for a 13-episode format, neither Manson nor Hodiak has been fully revealed, and indeed all the characters have a lot to develop further. I only remember the atmosphere and the good actors, but the plot was disappointing. Generally so-so, but it will do for the off-season.
I hope there will only be a few seasons, so as not to make things worse. As it is, the end of the season is promising. I hope it will be extended, although I hardly feel it.
It's a good series without any unnecessary words, except for not very clear points. Until the last facepalm about Hodiak's son, I understand the good intentions, the desire to bring the truth to light and for everyone to see about the atrocities of the war and what is hidden, but my God, how can you be so naive that the government and other bodies will not hush it up and shut up all those who disagree, well? Moreover, such stubbornness to the last, although on the one hand it is worthy of respect, but on the other hand it is Sisyphean work in the absolute. The detective is in some ways a direct copy of his previous alter ego Hank Moody. Charlie's ideology is some kind of nihilism of those years, coupled with his own foundations in his head, raised to a new faith, it's a pity for a girl with a child, it's a pity that because of such extravagance and ignorance and improperly provided help, the child died. As for the rest of the series, it's not bad and interesting. There are moments of a very pleasant atmosphere and a real feeling of that era, carefree, hippie, clothes and hairstyles, cars, the surroundings of some places, the Vietnam War. And yes, the sound perfectly and colorfully conveys the atmosphere of the series and gets to the point with the time interval, wonderful tracks.
I don't share the general enthusiasm for Duchovny, as I don't find anything special about him, just like in all the other actors. The series is quite interesting, although there are a couple of big "buts" that prevent you from enjoying the series to the fullest: the transition from one storyline to another is not very well expressed in the series, as well as some lame character disclosure. Speaking of storylines, it's too harsh, so much so that you blink your eyes for a couple more seconds and think: "Charlie? But Hodiak was just here...", and then it dawns on you that the piece that was shown to you so that you wouldn't forget the hero was really just a piece. It's just that compared to TV shows where there are several main characters who are at a distance from each other, the change of scenery didn't catch your eye and didn't make you strain to figure out what was going on. But the characters' characters are revealed somehow inexcusably sluggish: as for me, they talked about them for thirteen episodes, and then decided to push everything to the second season. No, no one is saying that all the characters should be served like this on a platter in the first episode, but was there anything that could be offered to the audience in one season? On the whole, the main idea is interesting, and for me personally, it's enough to close my eyes to everything else for at least forty-five minutes. The second season is taking place, so we are waiting.
@abmania: Because the plot needs to be continued. In the last episode, a very thick hint was made, and even more questions appeared. So far, there is no apparent reason to stop at one season, so most likely it will be.
@4w25: If you don't know, the longevity of the series depends primarily on ratings. Therefore, if you see that the story is not finished, it has absolutely nothing to do with whether there will be a sequel)
The series is so-so, it's worth watching (7 out of 10). It would have been better if NBC had posted all the episodes of Hannibal, and Aquarius was shown on schedule!!!
A very, very high-quality TV series, which, for all its advantages, manages to be eerily boring and monotonous. If it wasn't for David Duchovny, I would have dropped out for 2-3 episodes.
+ The series is like a roller coaster - one episode is eerily boring, the next is just gorgeous and dynamic. Then again, a couple of episodes of the average guy, and then one good one. The series is generally not bad, but in some places it's just tedious and drawn out, I had to rewind a little. 3/5. + To be honest, I don't like the Manson line at all. Not only is he a sick bastard, but there's also a lot of him. Too much. And there are a lot of his oddities too. I would have cut the moments with him and his family 3 times and it would have been great, because I rewound mostly the moments with his gathering. The usual police business at the station and undercover is much more interesting. + Perplexity was caused by Emma's parents, who, after she ran away for the second time, gave up on her, did not go looking for her, granted her independence, left her with a pervert at the age of 16, the mother seemed to have forgotten everything and calmly slept with Hodiak, and the father with Manson, sharing him with his daughter. Dad is generally a rare specimen. Several times during the series of his actions except as *WTF?* nothing else was called. It was even a little shocking. I understand that my daughter is walking, but show me a parent who would forget about the child in a second, as she decided to stay with Manson. + Actors and characters: The main character is not a favorite in the series, but he is quite pleasant.
I liked the guy who's always undercover (Gray Damon). I saw this actor only in the Secret Circle as Faye's boyfriend and as the teenage classmate of the main character in Unhappy. It opened up from a completely different side, which is very encouraging. It's a pity he's not with Charlene, they'd make a good couple.
Claire Holt is as happy as ever. I hope that her character will be given more airtime in season 2. The twist with her at the end is, of course, unexpected.
A series with deep meaning. It's a bit boring to watch, but sometimes there were moments that I watched without stopping. And I repeat for many: I watched it because of David Duchovny, but at the end of the season the essence of the series was revealed and it became interesting to me. I don't know if I'm going to watch the second season, but the first one opened my eyes to many things that I hadn't realized before.
For me, contrary to all expectations, it turned out to be only a three-plus. The series really wasn't the kind that could be eaten up in a couple of days, but sometimes it was too much to handle one episode at a time; you either had to skip it or watch it in chunks. The situation was saved by a good caste and Duchovny, who sometimes amused me a lot by turning into Hank.
It was shot superbly, done superbly, I kept hoping that at least from the second half of the season it would be hot, but everything was also boring and smooth. The characters are either half-revealed, or not revealed at all, or incomprehensibly necessary. Everything was successful only with Manson and maybe with Shafe.
I really want to compare it with "True detectives", but here "Aquarius" loses almost everywhere.
First, about the latest episode! She's nothing, they just stupidly didn't give anything new, except for a lot of questions, such a directing move is very old-fashioned, to throw as many questions as possible!
I watched the series entirely because of Duchovny, the series was shot normally, the scenery was beautiful, but the content was weak, boring, the series was a plug between major projects, unless there was some cool old series left!
The first two episodes got me interested, then it got a little boring. It's normal to look at the ironing in the background. Manson's line is like semolina porridge, we realized a long time ago that he's a bastard, and we're all smearing him with honey. This cherry is like that monkey in two turns from the joke, but at least in the end it was decided. Her dad, Ken, is very annoying, he's still a closet skeleton. Brian's wife is interesting. Just like Charmaine. Probably Duchovny's fans will really like it, I just watched it, just watched it.
I liked the whole series in spirit. More precisely, the first season. But the birthing scene and the blades in Manson's hands...personally, I have a huge fat disadvantage - for me, this is the line that should not be crossed even in the cinema.

There will still be another season. Duchovny really pulled the series.

And so the soundtrack is cool :)))
