@razork: They say the third and fourth seasons reveal the series. And Doctor Who isn't all sugar from that period either. Yes, if anyone doesn't know, this series is an offshoot of Doctor Who.
It's not a bad start. The atmosphere of the first-season doctors is felt. Who would have thought that I missed those seasons so much. The shooting quality and special effects suffer slightly, of course, but nothing. :)
I haven't watched any episodes of Doctor Who, so I wasn't impressed with the first episode. Does it even make sense for those who don't know what's going on with Doctor Who to look further?
Something vaguely familiar.. I've probably seen individual episodes before.. But it's still pretty good. Immortal captain, cool team, pterodactyl. I think we can take a look, since there are only 4 small seasons.
oh, my God , it hurts so much after 12 seasons of the doctor to start now it turns out that I missed Jack and so many references can be seen immediately, a dozen mentions :(
I started watching Torchwood after season 12 and oh my God, I immediately remembered the cozy atmosphere of the ninth and tenth doctors, which is so lacking in the new seasons!
@Butcher_Caprila: yes, that's why in the 4x13 series of Doctor Who there is a reference to this when the Doctor and Rose see Gwen and remember the maid)
It turns out that the headquarters of Torchwood 3 was all this time in the place where the Doctor recharged the TARDIS in the series "Urban Boom". And since it later turns out that Jack was recruited at the beginning of the 20th century, and he got into Torchwood 3 in 2000 for the New Year, then he worked here for the rest of the time until the second meeting with the Doctor in the third season. That is, during the events of the "Urban Boom" in Cardiff, there were actually two Jack - his younger and still mortal version in the TARDIS, as well as an already immortal later version when he was already working for Torchwood. Considering how much Jack wanted to meet the Doctor after gaining immortality, it's surprising that he didn't do it in the "Urban Boom" series, but perhaps this is due to his knowledge of the rules of space-time (because he worked at the Time Agency before meeting the Doctor) and he didn't want to create a Time Paradox by accidentally meeting his more a younger version; or he was on another mission that day and cornyly did not cross paths with the TARDIS...
So, I got carried away. In general, "Torchwood" initially makes a strange impression after meeting "Doctor Who", because there is a more adult rating and they do not hesitate to show blood, alcohol, and later sex (including same-sex), but even so, for a viewer unfamiliar with the Doctor's universe, some things and references may simply remain misunderstood - from Jack's immortality to that hand in the jar. In general, it is surprising that someone gave the go-ahead for this spin-off for a highly specialized adult audience, because there was a potential risk that it would not shoot. But Jack Harkness drags charisma of course, yes.
