@Сериалы_по_ночам: He probably had a soul, but it wasn't bright enough for the reapers to take it and put it to rest. When he was alive, he was still an asshole + violent death — that's Graveline for you. This may also explain why they are so outwardly unsightly (a reflection of their soul during their lifetime) and why they are so embittered that they "throw pianos at people."

I think he became Graveline because his death was not preordained and his soul was still immature. So all gravelines appear thanks to the reapers.

@Temprorary: but there are a lot of them, these creatures. Does this mean that the reapers are killing a lot of people? Maybe it's just someone's destiny to become a graveline, as well as the destiny to become a reaper?
