Although I did not like the Thals, I am glad to have defeated the Daleks. The only interesting thing is how the Daleks still survived. I mean, these Daleks are probably one of the first, because they are not yet adapted to walking on non-metallic surfaces, which means that there can be no question of any flights to other planets, the capture of solar systems. And here, it seems, there are even Talas left who could observe that the Daleks did not survive and did not develop further, but the Daleks are inevitably smarter.
@krivetra: Skaro is not a small planet. I believe that the further revival of the Daleks and their successful evolution may be due to the fact that this group of Daleks was by itself not the only one and not the most evolutionarily perfect. Who knows how many more such cities or underground bunkers of more advanced Daleks there were on Skaro that the Thals had never heard of?
It's not a bad story arc, but, as for me, it's too long. The first half is very good, and the second half is a bit boring. To cut it by two or three episodes would be the very thing.
