I was impressed with the pilot episode, the heroine does not cause irritation with her stubbornness, a pleasant-looking woman (: let's see what happens next
If you've watched a lot of detective series/ movies before, then this one will be boring, because somehow everything is without creepy dramas, dangers, chases. A calm, interesting series with an adequate number of female characters, I like everything, I watch it to "relax".
@id18379359: most likely, he agrees to what is offered. If directors see that an actress is good at a given role, they practically do not change their direction in relation to the characters she plays.
This pilot is some kind of outright hack... Completely flat characters - except for gg, only the man detective had an attempt to reveal the character. 90% of the screen time was devoted to the main character, who shows only one expression on her face - a smug grin. Except for a couple of minutes of scenes with my daughter and a couple of seconds of "a la House" insight. There is absolutely no heat, surprise, or any desire to empathize in the pilot (except for those couple of scenes with my daughter, again). The plot runs through the timekeeping along a strict track without giving any free rein to fantasy and imagination. Plus, there are a few obvious blunders... If this had happened in 2001-2003, it would have been quite good, but releasing something like this in 2011 is an obvious hack, definitely. But it's all about the pilot, let's see what happens next.
To be honest, I've watched two episodes... I've never been so bored watching something... But this is a murder investigation! It shouldn't be boring a priori, but the series somehow managed to do it. I can't call it bad, it's just not my thing. It has a strange atmosphere, light, naive, simple, it feels like I'm watching some kind of sitcom, not a detective/drama/crime, there's zero intrigue. But, I hasten to note that he did not cause irritation either. I don't want to punch myself in the face with a facepalm after watching it. The trouble here is rather that he didn't arouse any emotions in me. This is the first time. But yes, the characters, to be honest, don't really catch on, and there seems to be a twist, but it seems...
I got the desire to watch "Body Investigation" after first watching the double episodes of the second season of "Castle" ("Tick-tick-tick" and "Boom!"), in which Dana Delaney played FBI agent Jordan Shaw. And it only got worse with each new review of those two episodes, and I watched them often, because these are my favorite episodes of Castle for all seasons. And finally the cup overflowed and my little hands with eyes got to this pilot episode.
Unfortunately, "Body Investigation" is definitely not a solo album by Jordana Shaw. Not that I expected this, because after reading the description of the series here or on Wikipedia, you can understand this simple truth. But for some reason, I expected a certain "closeness in spirit" of the local main character and the long-beloved Jordana Shaw. More intimacy than I could see in the pilot episode right now.
But if we compare with the pilot episodes of the same "Castle", "Mentalist", "Dr. House", "Bones" - then everything is initially not too familiar and understandable everywhere, but here, in the pilot episode of "Body Investigation", as if more events had happened, more background was revealed, more was laid the foundation. It even seemed to me that the episode was not 42 minutes long, but about an hour.
The victim is really sorry, and her lover looked very broken in the finale of the episode. So there are no problems with the emotional part of the series.
Potentially the most interesting storyline for me will be the relationship between the main character and her daughter, unless, of course, the scriptwriters screw it up in the bud. This forced detachment and coldness of the daughter and the mother's desire to build something on the ashes of a destroyed relationship is a kind of contrast to the relationship between Castle and Alexis, which are damn close from beginning to end and are for me an example of the ideal parent-child relationship.
It's not clear yet who the main character ships with the most, this is a minus :-)
It's a very good start. I decided to watch this series because of nostalgia for Bones, and I'm very happy with the pilot: the heroine got hooked right away, quickly understands the case, loves theories, it's all good. Plus, there is an interesting background: the story of the unintentional murder of a patient and the family situation, the relationship with her daughter. At the end, I shed a tear. So I keep looking, even though I'm always surprised at how well such detective series work for me) I watched a lot of detective stories as a child, and I thought, I need to stop, but I just can't break up with them, I'm drawn to them, and that's it)
It's a very interesting beginning, and the series immediately caught on. Let's continue and see what happens next. I don't know if there are any similar series.
The voice acting of the main character, to be honest, freezes a little...or maybe not slightly (At the beginning of the series, it was just jarring, I hope to adapt quickly. Here's a pilot that seems to be quite good, but after a few viewed procedures (literally just watched the bones, and before that castle) it looks a little weak, but overall interesting. I hope they swing
Interestingly, they have an autopsy: with a bunch of people in civilian clothes in the room, and the pathologist himself works with the body in a bathrobe and with his hair down. And the room is not quite suitable.
The organization itself is also unclear. The building looks more like an FBI headquarters than a morgue.
So far, the characters look very flat. The plot is also lame, but as a lawyer, the head of the company, he easily allowed the epic fail to inspect the house.

But the idea is interesting, I'll keep watching.
