98 years old, and they already have Apple laptops and problems in social networks. networks appear. And the problems are very urgent, serious and hurtful. Lane's experiments are not so much interesting in plot as immersive in their own atmosphere, dark and with a sepia effect. It's like you've already seen it and lived in it. This is a different world, like a dream, during which it seems that this is reality. I love Lane. How wildly I wanted to reconsider *___* But it's already full of holes. I found something supposedly "similar." I hope you like it.
@Mtyz: Boogiepop wa Warawanai: Boogiepop Phantom - the atmosphere is really similar, but I didn't like it. Dennou Coil - it turned out to be more childish, but curious. Texhnolyze, Mousou Dairinin, Shinreigari: Ghost Hound - haven't watched it yet.
@beyond_nil: cyber-punk or science fiction is a lot of titles. What I have listed is close in terms of the depressing and gloomy atmosphere or other indicators
@platina_vi: http://www.animespirit.ru/anime/rs/ova-rus/1701-kii-metallicheskij-idol-key-the-metal-idol.html I advise you to take a look at key the metal idol too, old by release date, but very atmospheric (not found on MyShows) Thanks for reviewing this anime.
it seems to me that it is difficult to comprehend the details of what is happening when a third (or even half) of the information is in hieroglyphs, which XL Media did not want to translate in any way: ( or was it some kind of advertisement?.. a lot of things have remained unclear to me.
@zdrt: I turned on the second eye at the same time, where there is a subtitled translation with all translations of Japanese texts, because it was also annoying that it was unclear what was hidden behind the inscription.
Personally, the ending was a little bit leaked for me, I expected more from Lane Lane's monologue. Or I'm drawing too strong a parallel to Evangelion Lane. I still did not understand the symbolism of the bloody shadow. As I understand it, the network and the 7th protocol are a subsystem of the real world, in which Masami settled in the form of a subprogram, who created Lane in order to turn this very world into a collective conscious using an electromagnetic field (Schumann resonance), which constantly affects people. But how did they change people's memories? If the lane is software, then everything is clear with it. If she was able to run the emulator of her indoor car in herself, then she could manage the technical devices in the area, but not the memory. Or is it all those notorious synapses of the brain? She studied for a long time, but she was able to rewrite everything - how? Okay, it's fine on the whole. It's confusing, with something superfluous, but it works. I've never regretted watching it.
In general, you need to go through the game first, because that's where you can really find out who Lane is and the whole mess. In the anime, the plot is superficially touched upon, turned upside down, all sorts of unnecessary aliens are introduced, and a lot of information is cut out. Although as a separate psychedelic anime, it's very much my favorite, huh. For those who are hooked, however, I advise you to read about the game, although it is not passable for people without knowledge of java.language, but still.
I came across this anime many times and didn't want to watch it because of the drawing. It was in my teenage years. Even if I had taken up this anime, I would not have understood it at that moment. Now I have the right age to view it and to comprehend this creation. I've had the OST Lane in my audio for a long time, it's great, and overall the anime music is good. At some points, it really seemed to me that Lane was breaking the fourth wall and communicating directly with me. In the 90s, this topic with computers and other minds was very relevant, and I have already seen similar anime, for example Animatrix. Now I have a lot of anime from those years in my plans. It's strange, but at the moment, I'm more interested in this drawing than the current one.
For me, the last one and a half episodes have pulled the anime. At first it was very difficult to watch, everything was filmed deliberately unfriendly to the viewer, these long plans, the long silence, the white sky, stretched with wires. It doesn't really matter how Lane deleted herself and rebooted the world. Lane will always keep an eye on us, no matter what year it is.
Most of the anime seemed to be boring enough and the plot was difficult to grasp, too surreal. But the last two episodes have fully revealed the genius of the work. Especially the monologue. I would also like to mention how much I was impressed by Alice's words that if there is no memory of something, it never existed. Until recently, it seemed that I would not recommend this series to anyone, but as it turned out, I was wrong. Good food for the mind 👌
Two and a half hours to watch the series and another 3 hours to watch and read various interpretations in order to settle what he saw in his head.I can't even imagine how people 20 years ago, after watching this anime, managed not to go cuckoo.
5 hours wasted. Another anime from the series "NOT for people like everyone else", but in fact just pseudo-intellectual nonsense, for those who supposedly pretend to understand. They also compare it with Evangelion. Yes Lane to Evangelion as to China. It would be better to make one game and that's it. The whole series throws pieces of meaningless information at you, which in the end leads to nothing. The ending is just as pseudoscientific as everything else. From the series. Now I'm going to throw in all sorts of meta references, deep meanings that have nothing in them, and then people will sort out this nonsense for years and call me a genius. Pfft. Lynch's films have more meaning and depth. Don't waste your time on this. Seriously. It's better to see a Ghost in armor or an Ergo Proxy
I'm not defending Lane, but lol, if we talk about Evangelion, then this is not the top at all and not something worth setting as an example, especially when the creators admitted that they took Christian symbols simply because it looked and sounded cool.
The atmosphere of this anime is good and raises very interesting topics! In the end, everything is more or less on the shelves, but this is not a masterpiece, as they try to claim it. A "masterpiece for all time" should still have a balance. For example, it's one thing to immerse the viewer in the atmosphere, but it's another thing to convey the thoughts that you want them to understand. The atmosphere initially attracts with its monotony, but the plot is given in very ragged portions. And as a result, by episode 5 you stop paying attention to the atmosphere, because you want to be given food for thought and somehow move the plot already. I'm not against monotony, especially if it plays into the hands of the atmosphere, but the authors are very passionate about it. As a result, there really isn't much lore itself, and it turns out the authors had 2 solutions: either to think even more about the interactions of characters and worlds, both online and real, which would obviously solve issues with the dynamics of the plot and, oddly enough, would immerse the atmosphere even more; or to stretch what is and give the story in small portions with inserts and psychedelic fragments that would mask the main plot twist. In general, the authors took the second path. The standard of anime that the authors should have looked up to is ergo proxy and ghost in the shell, they perfectly immerse themselves in the atmosphere of cyberpunk, give enough information to think about, but when anime itself wants to convey a thought to us, they do it without hesitation and directly, either it's the thoughts of the characters, or through actions. Therefore, when I say that "Lane experiments are not for everyone, but for those who know how to reflect," I agree and at the same time disagree. Anime raises interesting topics and it's worth reflecting on a few thoughts, but it's too "blurry" in the end. As with art, for example, take paintings painted by an artist: they convey the mood with strokes, softer or clearer, the lines give information about the plot, and make it more mobile or static, but when we pay attention to the painting itself, we see exactly what the author painted.
Lane, if you're nowhere and everywhere at the same time, then you need to hear me. So, Lane, you've erased yourself from my memory like shit-I remember you perfectly. Although throughout the anime, I had the feeling that I had forgotten or missed something. Maybe Lane was already doing chemicals back then... 🤔
I will not look for deep meanings in the ending, build theories and so on. I'm just balanced satisfied with this piece. I've enjoyed opening at least 13 times, and that's a lot!
P.S. Well, I'm glad for Alice that everything turned out well for her. Lane, give my regards to Aliska!
A dream where the echoes of the future seeped into the past.
I was born in 1999, so my childhood fell on the second half of the noughties and I did not find the early years of the spread of the Internet in Russia, but I still got that near-mystical, near-game perception of this new technology, when instead of a sense of knowledge, people felt curiosity, awe, and even fear of the Internet. It was in those years that many famous crypto enthusiasts were born, social networks had just begun to grow, and many large providers had just started their business. And so Lane's experiments are actually an amazing thing, because she perfectly captures this atmosphere of the early Internet. It was about the same in Kurosawa's Pulse and another film, the mood of which is so very different, but they are so similar that it's better to talk about it another time. In fact, I'm not even sure that I understood at least half of what I was saying, and in the end I felt discouraged, but it doesn't matter, it was this amorphous feeling of the late 90s and early noughties that was enough for me. I think I miss them..
And this title also has a great opening, which also came directly from those years. It's been a long time since I've added anime songs to my playlist, even though it's unusual.
In general, this is a very original thing and a series of its time, which frighteningly fits perfectly into Our time, Our days. It's drama, and sci-fi, and horror, and silce-of-life, and I don't know what else. A unique thing. I'm sure I'll come back to it more than once, it definitely needs to be reviewed.
Terrible anime. Bondarchuk's guns don't just hang. 80% of the screen time is based on them. Be sure that, with a high degree of probability, if you don't understand something at the time of viewing, this piece can be thrown out and nothing for the narrative will change. The anime is terribly long-winded and does it on purpose. For example, one of the episodes consists of half of wordless repetitions of what was in the previous episodes, accompanied by an average improvisation of an electric guitar solo. Maybe we should have understood something in this fragment? And here's the devil. Just because. And that's really quite strange - where does the score of 4 come from here? At least to look at the emoticons, it is clear that half of this work does not like it. I agree with the rating of 4, only if... 4 out of 10. Wasted time.
