Stylish actor Tim Roth in the role of Lightman is really similar to Dr. House - the genius of the hero puts others on a level below his knowledge. Tough, self-confident, but at the same time, he does not tolerate interference in his work and brings any matter to an end, Laitman does not leave the slightest chance for people who want to deceive him. The first season was the most successful, but the film did not slip into cliches on the wave of success, but looks with great interest. What else I liked about the movie is that in each episode, not one, but several cases are investigated, and these are not necessarily murders or rapes - there may be a simple consultation.
In general, Foxes are, of course, very big assholes in this regard.
You can't do that at the root

But no. Everything is as clumsy as ever. A smart billionaire, instead of calling security and asking her to escort uninvited guests who are interrogating with passion from a private territory, allows himself to be cornered with almost zero arguments. And then he also somehow goes to jail when the prosecution has no evidence except for a voice message recorded on the phone, which also proves nothing. Classics, from series to series.
The series is quite good, the idea itself is very interesting. But let's be honest, against the background of such procedures, it turned out to be very mediocre. The lack of a main plotline personally cut off any interest in further viewing, because I knew that I could continue watching after 3 years and would not forget anything. After all, there's nothing to forget, every episode is a different story, except that the agents of law enforcement agencies change, and who slept with whom.
It's not a complete ending. But if it was closed, then it was necessary. No tragedy.
All the features of Superman Lightman (he writes books, owns a successful company, works for the FBI, was previously listed in the Pentagon, brutally plays cards - he is known throughout Vegas, lived in tribes, works undercover in prisons, repairs motorcycles, raises a daughter, and so on and so on) arrive by the middle of the first season.
Of the big disadvantages (which may have ruined the series, because many intellectuals live quietly for 10 years) I will note the lack of character development and any kind of central line. Well, indeed, the series can be watched in absolutely random order, the 5th episode of the 1st season, the 8th episode of the 3rd, the 4th episode of the 2nd, etc., absolutely NOTHING will change. All the lines that are emerging go deep, and once every 5-10 episodes, a Foster couple comes to mind./Lightman, Torres/Eli, and even Torres/Lightman are just as likely to be forgotten. Torres got a boyfriend, Bach, and he's not here, and he wasn't there, and Eli is looking for a new job, and Bach isn't looking anymore, and everything like that.
And I would also add that it would be nice, in my opinion, if Lightman were wrong and would not be such a mega-cool superman. During the series, it was said more than once that this was an inaccurate science and many people did not take Lightman seriously, but in the end he was always right, and where he was not, he did it on purpose, trying to trap the criminal. It would be much more interesting if the audience wondered how things would turn out in the end, whether Lightman was right this time or not, rather than watching Tim Roth's benefit 48 times in a circle.
The ending makes it clear that Lightman loves Foster after all, and the feeling is so pure that he doesn't want to spoil anything, perhaps when he gets enough exercise and decides what he really needs, they will stop being just friends.
But it was compensated by an interesting relationship. For example, such as Dr. Lightman and his daughter Emily. And Lightman and Dr. Foster. These lines were the most enjoyable to watch. But I hoped until the last moment that Cal and Gillian would finally start a serious relationship, because sparks sparkled between them every time. 😍✨And they're not just friends at all.
