I've never cried SO much over an anime series in my life seriously, the last three episodes are almost the most emotionally powerful anime I've ever seen.
I watched the series - it just blew my head off. Then I found the third full-length film (the sequel, that is) - I actually thought my head would burst! I couldn't think of anything else for another day after that.
I have the audacity to drop a few words about the already "Great and Mighty". In general, I'm probably one of the few who watched Madoka, because this is maho-shojo, which has attracted me since the time of Sailor Moon thanks to their cute costumes and beautiful reincarnations. But most of all, I love this genre for the fact that most of the time you watch kawaii kava, and at the end there is psychedelic and action... I was very pleased with the graphic experiments – a la "Studio 4 degrees", a lot of unimaginable and incomprehensible techniques, like crumpled paper in a compartment with a puppet theater We decided to fit into the kawaii narrative of the originally cute anime. We must also pay tribute to the plot – this is a rare case when there are only 12 episodes at your disposal (and not 26, where you can not turn around too much and not an hour and a half, where you can only crush your legs) and throughout all 12 there is a complete story without fillers and spin-offs with one sole purpose – to explain everything to the end. An explosive mixture of carefree happiness and immeasurable tragedy in one cup of tea. It tightens and does not let go until the very end. I think many people have already seen Madoka, but still obviously not all. And she deserves everyone, that's a fact.
One of my favorite anime. The story is not about "girls who always cope with evil with laughter", where there is no place for drama and horror. Unusual, thanks to its ending, and everything that happens. It would seem that there is no place for deaths and other things to cry over, but everything fits in well. A kind of dystopia in its own way, you might say.
Madoka really stands out from the maha-shojo genre precisely because she, as the quintessence of everything that has already been done, collects the best and also brings a share of new, unusual things. For an anime that begins so simply, pinkly and naively, such an ending is very powerful, relatively unpredictable, interesting, new, sad and at the same time contradictory. Madoka combines the most magnificent plot twists that can be inserted into anime about fairy girls: time loops, complex chronology and narrative system, understatement to the very end, the mosaic of the story, which only in the final develops into a full-fledged picture, magnificent design (a kind of experiment with graphics, which I personally associated with something between Alice Madness Returns and Pandora's Hearts), the cruelty and seriousness of the atmosphere, a certain philosophy and morality of the story. There are few anime like this, and I think Madoka is justifiably considered something more than maho-shojo with cute outfits and an endless plot about all-conquering heroines. In just 12 episodes, without further ado, a wonderful story is told, which I definitely won't regret watching.
At first I thought it would be a simple and rainbow anime about witches. I was so wrong. I may not have cried, but this story has hurt me and doesn't want to let go. Strong heroines and their equally powerful replicas inspire, and together with the ST it turned out to be a masterpiece that will be remembered for a long time for its uniqueness and the way the magnificent idea of the author is presented through simple examples.
It stands out from its genre thanks to an interesting plot, steep plot twists, characters and an extraordinary ending, and time travel is steeply woven into the plot. Overall, I liked it.
A LOT of people said, "look, even if you don't like anime about girls, schoolgirls and maho-sezde as a genre." A lot of hidden meaning, they said. An exciting story, they said. If you are 14-20 years old, you like schoolgirls, genre, dresses and other paraphernalia - you will like it. In general, the plot is not new from the word "absolutely". Only the lazy one did not write about the payment for the use of force / did not take it off. The concept itself... the ancients had about it. They wrote a lot of things)) If someone is at least superficially familiar with Buddhism, they will find many similarities, but if the format of "girls in dresses" is preferable for understanding the concept, then you are welcome. The "butterfly effect" at the end was absolutely expected, and, alas, not new either.
I am writing this comment for those who, like me, are not a fan of the genre, but hear "look at Madoka" from every iron. Don't waste your time :)
@art_wind: Everything is for God's sake. Those who do not like maho-sezde, have read books and watched a lot of things - they will not come in. That's exactly what I wrote about. Read at least with your eyes before "keeping up to date".
I just found out about the name of this genre from the comments) as a child, I liked Sailor moon and so I decided to try to watch Madoka. it's funny, of course, but I don't know if it's worth watching by those who usually don 't like it. The drawing confused me all the way, but it's a matter of taste) but the fact that the story is complete is a fact)
I've watched a couple of anime of this genre, and I'm not a fan. It's been so long, I've never had the strength to watch it to the end. But this anime is something else, it's interesting to watch. The drawing is very abstract, but it has a place to be. Overall, it's a wonderful thing, so now I'll recommend it too :)
I started watching Madoka a few years ago, about the year it was released, but somehow it didn't go well and I abandoned it. now I understand that probably everything just has its time, and so in 22 we met again so..She came as a great shock to me, about on a par with Eva. with the difference that Eva did not have to cry for 20 minutes in a row. it's just something incredibly light and heavy, unbearably sad and nevertheless giving hope. I do not recall that the 12 episodes forced me to get so out of reality and feel some completely unfamiliar level until now. the story turned out to be knocking the ground out from under his feet, although at first it was skillfully misleading, a trap like in Gakkou gurashi. I feel very grateful to the people who are able to create such significant things and present them so easily, to the very soul.
when Mom said that she seemed to know this girl...and when Madoka said goodbye to Homura, promising her a new meeting, and when already in her eternal state she wished her good luck in battle in her new world..These moments are forever imprinted in the heart

I am delighted, prostrated and in tears, etc.
