At first I empathized with Mia and then..
Well, we are waiting for the second part and I hope they will reveal the topic with a hand there
The plot is not formulaic, the actors are coping perfectly, and the characters are spelled out very well.
The film was able to surprise me several times with what is happening on the screen.
You can dislike, judging by the comments, someone liked the film, but this will not change the fact that the film is raw and not finalized, although the idea is cool
UPD: there is a limit of 2000 characters, but I got more, I'll divide it into 2 messages…
1) Did the daughter kill her father?
She did not kill him, a friend of gg found him, who had lost a lot of blood, but alive.
2) Did everything really end well or did it just seem that way after death.
For the other characters, it really ended well. What gg sees at the end is just accelerated events that took place in the hospital while she was wandering like a restless spirit.
3) How did the mother become obsessed?
It's more a question of whether it was her mother. Probably not. It seems that the dealers mentioned that the previous owner warned that evil spirits could impersonate familiar people.
4) Why did Maloy suddenly come to his senses?
As the brother of the previous owner of the hand had said, they just had to wait, because over time the power of the evil spirits would weaken and the kid would be able to return. And he didn't come to his senses right away. Again, a lot of time has passed, as hinted by his dialogue with his mother, that he is far behind in his studies.
5) Mia took the boy out of the hospital in a wheelchair and didn't bother anyone at all, no one even noticed.
Well, yes. Shtosh, there are conventions...
6) Why the boy's mother was angry at first, and then abruptly calmed down, show us how she came to this!
Why she was so kind to gg is generally understandable, after all, gg is clearly a childhood friend of a girl from this family, they always hang out together and gg really became part of the family too. As a loved one, I have already forgiven.
Well, that's for anyone. For me, the above explanation is enough and has nothing to do with the essence of the film.
8) Was the mother's suicide? Did the mother tell her daughter that she didn't kill herself, was she lying or was it true?
Returning to answer No. 3, someone whom gg saw as her mother was not her mother. Suicide, most likely, really happened, but the mother whom gg saw lied to her all the way. This becomes clear when "mother" begins to persuade gg to kill the kid, and after all, dealers repeat more than once that if you kill a possessed person, then his soul will forever remain with evil spirits. Finally, the intentions of the mother are confirmed at the end, when the mother and the spirit in the stroller begin to laugh maliciously in unison.
In general, the film still leaves open the question: did gg jump under the wheels herself or was she pushed by a friend? But logically, a friend would hardly have acted so radically, and an independent jump fits well with the beginning of the film, when she also did not want to finish off the kangaroo.
PS
I don't understand where people see a hint of a sequel here. IMHO the story in the movie is completely complete.

The Cole and Duckett sequence is meant to show what’s in store for the film’s main character, Mia (Sophie Wilde), and her group of teenage friends. However, Danny and Michael Philippou have even shot some form of a Duckett prequel that they hope to release at some point.
“We actually shot an entire Duckett prequel already. It’s told entirely through the perspective of mobile phones and social media, so maybe down the line we can release that,” Danny Philippou says.

Then, at the end of the flashback, Mia's words in a trance, in the first part of the film and addressed to Riley, came back: "Now he's standing behind you.", "He likes you.", "Run.".
That is, all this time there was a certain "he" who had plans for this kid, who, in fact, apparently, was bringing gg to his goal?)
PySy: Personally, the ending came straight to me. They finished the story beautifully and concisely.
And the ending...🤦♂️I didn't understand anything, everything needs to be thought out, there are simply no answers to a bunch of questions that have arisen
Okay, maybe he's not a megastar, but you can't call him "nothing" either. And the presence of a decent plot makes it head and shoulders above all films, the advantages of which end with screamers.
I will definitely advise you to watch it if they ask me to name a couple of horror films for the evening.
"Two, three, demon, come" - the full-length debut project of Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou turned out... debut. With all the pros and cons of a relatively expensive project by the standards of the genre, bailed out to newcomers, the authors of the YouTube channel RackaRacka, known primarily for budget, but high-quality geek-themed videos. Those who more or less followed the trends of YouTube probably saw them ten years ago " Harry Potter vs Star Wars ". Rumor has it that then the twins switched from nerdy themes to short horror films (and even took a small, but still participated in the filming of the Babadook, another thundering Australian horror), but to such an extent I am unfamiliar with their work, so I can't say how much their first steps in we have been successful in this direction. However, there is a feeling that their current employment with the adaptation of the Street Fighter game is much more suited in style to what and how they were doing. But I digress.
Let's immediately throw a stone into the garden of localizers, which with a light hand (hehe) even in the title, one of the little intrigues was destroyed - and the film is not rich in them without that. In the original "Talk to Me" (that is "Talk to Me") not only describes one of the steps of the instructions for communicating with spirits, but also, in my opinion, leads to one of the dramatic themes of the film - the need for people to talk, who have experienced /are going through a difficult stage in life, and who need to both speak out themselves and listen to relatives or professionals. Yes, of course, the appearance of the coming ghosts arouses some suspicions, but what is so immediately, eh? However, an unambiguous answer to why "demons " act exactly as shown in the film, still does not loom, even knowing the ending.
Actually, this is the main problem of the picture. No, I definitely enjoyed it, and, in general, I understand why it paid off ten times, and also got the green light for the backstory and continuation: there is a thick atmosphere here, excellent camerawork (watching the obsession begin does not bother until the very finale), the actors do not fake, there is a few memorable scenes (from the general carousing to the tune of very... VERY reminiscent of the music from the song "These eyes opposite " performed by Obodzinsky laughed a lot, singing along: "that's what fate brought, that's what fate brought ... ", and from the scene of obsession that went wrong, even shuddered). Well, I was particularly pleased with the parallel between drug addiction and demon possession - I don't remember that in the films the victim of obsession was getting high, and consciously, from the fact that an evil spirit penetrates into her, and wanted more and more of a dose. Naturally, with certain sad consequences for others and yourself. It's just cool and unusual. However, unfortunately, in some places it is not twisted, and in some places some things are said right in the forehead. Here in the same "It Follows " (in the domestic translation " It is ", but not about Pennywise the clown), the theme of the curse, which is transmitted from teenager to teenager as a fatal STD (also an interesting and unusual comparison), was implemented much more subtly and be careful. It immediately feels like it could have been done better.
In general, we are smoothly moving from the pros to the cons. As for the plot and internal logic - put out the light. That's right from the beginning to the end. It is immediately clear that the script was written by self-taught people (one of the brothers Philippou and their permanent friend is a co-author on TyTruba). The owners of the hand, purely the owners of Gizmo from Gremlins, pronounce the rules to everyone who wants to be possessed: the obsession is no more than ninety seconds, after which the person needs to be pulled out (hmm, I remembered the movie Comatose here, by the way), candles as a portal, pronunciation of certain phrases. And none of those who want to ask any questions. Where did these rules come from? From past owners? And how do the past owners know about this (we'll come back to this later)? Numerous parties are organized around these same guys. At parties, thrash streams are held (let's call it stylish, fashionable, youth), and there is a live broadcast from the owners of the hand, and from everyone present, and even this is recorded / stored in mobile. At the same time, somehow miraculously, there are still acquaintances from this environment who do not believe in what is happening and consider it a simple hype (like Mia and her friend). Despite the fact that streams are popular, none of the adults are interested in it. And young people don't care - just to get high from incomprehensible suspicious stuff from incomprehensible suspicious types. Listen, I understand everything, but how many strings do not curl, but there will definitely be a socially active author of some channel in the cart (what is popular in the USA now? Reddit?), which will raise a howl. I won't give specifics, but recently a couple of such networks "bloggers ", who beat citizens on video, were pressed very hard just because of the publicity in the cart. And here no one cares. Well, a free society, what else to take from the citadel of democracy: if I want, I will be possessed by a demon on the air, if I want, I will shit on the walk of fame in Hollywood in broad daylight. Returning to the past owners of the hand, the scene is just fire: "What should we do?". Answer: "Go to the ass". "Thanks for the advice!". I exaggerate, of course, but something like this, but you are waiting for some explanations of what is happening closer to the finale. Moreover, the fact that the film could get a prequel and a sequel (where the audience will be given, I hope, some adequate answers to the questions posed) is the same pitchfork on the water, and so the film looks unfinished and ill-conceived in the style of "While it will come off, and then somehow we'll get out". Here, for example, "Saw " is the right example of how to maintain an intrigue, while constantly revealing details as the series progresses. At the same time, the first part is an absolutely independent work, not particularly requiring continuation or additional explanations. James Wan and Lee Wannell, of course, would be the producers of "Talk to Me "...
In general, it was possible to reveal the characters better. In fact, you're worried about one single person here- and, no, it's not Mia. Well, in general, for a horror movie, in my opinion, there is not enough movement. Almost all horror stories revolve around Mia, some kind of collateral damage on a larger scale for her friends would give speed to the film, which periodically slows down quite a lot.
However, if some more intelligent screenwriter is assigned to the Philip brothers and they are not limited to the producers of the Babadook, there is hope that the franchise will really develop into something really interesting. After all, there are very recent examples when dull horror films were perfectly revealed in the second parts: that Mike Flanagan with the second "Widgie " ("Widgie. The Curse of the Devil's Board") that David F. Sandberg with the second "Annabel " ("Annabel's Curse: The Birth of Evil"). True, in both cases, the directors changed, but not everything is so hopeless with the original, as in the franchises listed. In general, we keep our fists (hehe) and wait for the development of the series.
Rating: 6 "give me a paw, Jim, for luck" out of 10
For any horror movie, you can ask the question then " where did this demon come from?", "where does Satan come from at all?", "why is the damn thing killing people?", "why did the burnt dude start appearing to children in their dreams? how is this possible?", "how is it possible that the deceased began to persecute people?" and so on. - these are the assumptions of this genre, the added mysticism, which does not always need an answer, because the characters themselves often do not know the answer, and we see the narrative from their faces.
But not all thrillers/horrors have to be detective.
You can take a look at it once)))
There are no holes and questions about the plot, everything is clear, there are also funny moments of course)) laugh
Actors, plot, atmosphere, music — all zero out of ten. Except that the work of the operator and the editor is normal.
And it is also surprising that many people did not understand the ending, in my opinion, the final was solved relatively interestingly, though too quickly and very primitive, so that even the most inexperienced would understand what happened to the heroine.
In general, I've been waiting for the movie for a long time, intrigued by trailers and synopses. And I got lost time, well at least 1:25
But I liked this movie! I won't say that I was scared, but there were still a couple of unpleasant moments.
An inexperienced viewer should definitely go in, it seems like the topic with demons seems hackneyed and trivial, but this film caught on.
I don't understand those who say that the ending is merged. Yes, maybe I wanted to stretch the moment of the denouement a little more, but everything ended logically and clearly!
Although, I agree that the second part of the film would not hurt to learn more about the origin of the hand and, perhaps, it would not hurt to save Mia :)
In general, the time was not wasted, the horror is not bad for the evening!
