Young female fighter pilots arrive to the frontline. They have different stories and different fates. They are getting older, falling in love and lose their closest ones as well as take their place in the world of men. The air has become their home. However, at war no one knows whose fate is to live and who is doomed to die.

I didn't like the movie. There is no plot as such. We are shown the military everyday life of pilots, when the feat is performed every day. No one was impressed by the acting, even my beloved Elena Lyadova. The characters of the film do not cause any empathy, as it does not matter what happens to them, and in a film about the war this should not be a priori. In the end, we couldn't wait for it to end with something. I do not recommend it for viewing.

The film was directed by Alexey Herman Jr., whom I didn't know anything about before and hadn't seen any of his films. He also participated in the writing of the script. The story is entirely fictional, but it is based on the real facts of the participation of female pilots in the Great Patriotic War. The film runs for two and a half hours and is very dark and bloody in content. The director diligently paints the horrors of war, showing dirt, blood, and mutilations of soldiers. There is also an action, but it is quite weak, since the planes are mostly shown in the distance, where it is even difficult to make out whether they are ours or the Germans, but mostly the view is directed into the cockpit, right in his face. Almost all the action revolves around Belova and her several friends, although they are almost not disclosed at all. But Belova has a difficult and bitter fate. There are men in the film, but they are either nothing, or scoundrels, or Armless. The narration is very ragged, the dialogues are blunt and it often seems that the characters do not listen to each other's remarks at all. Probably as an anti-war film, this picture has a place to be, but it's terribly boring to watch it, especially with such timing. In addition to the wooden actors and the weak combat component, it is also possible to note the drawn-out plans and the lack of a clear storyline. This is just a set of stories about Belova's Wife and her entourage, which are presented in a very muddy and dull way. I definitely do not recommend going to the cinema to watch a movie, you will simply fall asleep, and it's up to you to watch at home or not. Personally, I was not impressed, despite a couple of interesting solutions.

Thanks to the authors for not forgetting the topic of women in war. Many films have been made on this topic. Here's another one coming out. However, it is difficult to attribute it to the best on this topic. The film turned out to be heavy and, I would say, hopeless. A tragic end was in store from the very beginning, and here it belongs. I got the impression that I was watching a film about WWII, shot in the 90s. There is a lot of negativity. Then they loved to throw mud at everything Soviet. I didn't like the director's work. The Germans, whether they are older or younger, are not my movies. The film turned out to be kind of jerky, ragged, consisting of pieces, there is no smooth smooth narration. Aerial battles are shown monotonously and absolutely not spectacular. It also hurt when fighter planes began bombing German positions in low-level flight. I would like the authors to explain where they hung the bombs there. The ground combat scenes were much better. I didn't like the theme of the military mini-orchestra and didn't get hooked. The episode with the killing of the horse seemed like some kind of game. I didn't like the camerawork either. The film turned out to be gray, there were no impressive shots. I would single out only Sergei Bezrukov from the actors. The female pilots seemed faceless. Elena Lyadova didn't like it either. Anastasia Talyzina seemed to play well, but... I'm still not convinced. 4/10 - below average
