@sai_: Paul Newman voiced the character in the animated film, despite his age, he was 81 years old at the time of the cartoon's release. Two years after the premiere of the film, Newman passed away, and as a sign of respect, the studio decided to remove the character from the following parts in order to preserve his voice in the memory of the audience.
And for memories, Cars 3 used unreleased recordings from the first film and Newman's monologue, in which he describes the beauty of racing without even playing a role, because he was a racing driver.
