@P0lina_Z: maybe because it's not about who killed and why? with the evidence there is difficult and the pianos in the bushes are gigantic. The movie is just not about that.

About this film it is worth understanding that first of all it is not a detective. For the murder takes place only in the second half of the film and the name of the killer, or rather the killers, does not interest anyone. The deceased was an unpleasant person, and therefore the solution is interesting only to a very limited detective played by Stephen Fry, who did not even deign to take fingerprints. The film is rather curious about its ability to spy on the world of the British aristocracy and their servants (the worlds are so different that they even live on different floors). Much later, about this will be filmed "Downton Abbey ", the series will be launched by the scriptwriter "Gosford Park " Julian Fellowes. In the meantime, this is still far away and director Altman shows the story of how suffocatingly stuffy the atmosphere of a British estate can be, and at the same time shows his cinematic erudition from Christie's film adaptations to Renoir's Rules of the Game.

Beautiful house, beautiful people! So many British movie stars in one movie! However, it wasn't until the middle of the film that I began to figure out who was who, there were a lot of characters. I really liked it!
