Overview

This pioneering documentary film depicts the lives of the indigenous Inuit people of Canada's northern Quebec region. Although the production contains some fictional elements, it vividly shows how its resourceful subjects survive in such a harsh climate, revealing how they construct their igloo homes and find food by hunting and fishing. The film also captures the beautiful, if unforgiving, frozen landscape of the Great White North, far removed from conventional civilization.

a film that shows the unique life of an Eskimo family in the modern world. Flaherty spent 16 months among them. Hunger, cold and hard work for survival did not remove the smiles from the faces of the Eskimos. Perhaps people used to be much happier, despite the difficult ways of survival. + Eskimos kiss while rubbing their noses. They chew boots to soften the skin and can build a needle in an hour. a very roomy boat.
