Netflix has renewed Japanese series "Alice in Borderland" for a third season
Streaming service Netflix has renewed sci-fi drama "Alice in Borderland". The series, based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, will return with a third season.
The project is about an unemployed young man named Arisu Ryohei. He wishes his life would be more exciting, and one day his wish comes true: a mysterious white light appears, and all people except Arisu and his two friends disappear. To survive, the guys are forced to take part in a dangerous game, the payment for losing in which is death.
The plot and release date of the sequel have not been revealed. Shinsuke Sato, director of the first two parts, will direct the third season. Also returning in the new installment will be Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who play the roles of Arisu and Usagi.
The first season of "Alice" was released in December 2020 and was one of Netflix's top 10 most watched series in nearly 40 countries. The second season debuted in December 2022 and became Netflix's most-watched project in all of Japan, surpassing even anime series. The second season entered the streaming service's top 10 in more than 90 countries.

У манги есть сиквел, но он мало того, что был нарисован исключительно под выход сериала, так и событий там на сезон ну никак не наберется, максимум на пару серий. Да и не Джокер там был, а карта попроще.
Есть истории, которым действительно нужно продолжение, тут же буквально все точки расставили. Если так хотели растянуть историю на три сезона, то стоило не вырезать целые куски манги и персонажей (как того же Додо) и получше раскрыть непосредственно игры с Вальтами, Дамами, Королями и Королевами (потому что даже в сериале многие из них остались за кадром). Может, добавить флэшбеки про их прошлое и проч.
Очень и очень странное решение... я посмотрю, что из этого получится, но ожидания прямо минимальные.
