Jeffrey Wright walks to success in "American Fiction" comedy trailer
MGM Studios has released a trailer for American Fiction, a satirical comedy starring Batman star Jeffrey Wright.
He plays writer Thelonious "Monk" Ellison, who is worried that his latest work isn't resonating with publishers. One day Monk finds himself in a meeting with popular writer Sintara Golden and hears an excerpt from her book, which is praised for being representative of black culture.
Monk is furious: Golden's book is full of old and offensive stereotypes, and yet it has become a bestseller. Monk jokingly writes a similar novel, but that one unexpectedly becomes a real hit, and the writer himself gets caught in a whirlwind of crazy events.
Along with Wright in the movie played Tracee Ellis Ross, Sterling K., and Issa Rae, and wrote and directed the comedy Cord Jefferson — the author of the series "The Good Place" and "Watchmen".
Critics have already had time to appreciate the picture: in September, "American Fiction" won the Grand Prix at the 48th International Film Festival in Toronto. Viewers will be able to see the film from December 15.
