Apple TV+ has renewed the comedy "Platonic" for a second season
Apple TV+ has renewed the comedy series "Platonic" for a second season. The show starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne was originally supposed to be a mini-series, but high ratings allowed the creators to continue.
"Honestly, we had talked about [doing more] during the first season, but I get really nervous about how it’s going to be received. I’m not a count-your-eggs-before-they-hatch guy. I’ve done that thing where I drive around Friday night of opening weekend for my movies and go to the theaters and there’s no one in them. I really just wanted to see if we were happy with it when it came out — and if everyone else was happy with it. I was kind of nervous about how high my standards were for what we were doing, and I wanted to make sure that we could actually do it. And then once I saw that we could, I was like, ‘OK, we should keep doing it", — shared Seth Rogen, who also serves as one of the producers on the project.
The series is about Sylvia and Will, former best friends who have been estranged for a long time. Sylvia is happily married and raising beautiful children. One day she learns that Will is getting a divorce and decides to check up on her friend whom she hasn't seen for many years. So they begin to communicate again, but soon their friendship becomes all-consuming and breaks the carefully constructed balance of their lives.
The creators and writers of the series are Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, known for the movies "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him to the Greek". In a statement, they warned that "Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either".
